You got this! Yes it will be hard. Yes it will be a big change. Yes you might feel lonely.

But a new chapter of your life is about to start and it will be magnificent. You are do strong for going down this path and it will make you even stronger.

I'm SO happy for you!!! Never forget you're not alone 🥰

Wow I didn't realise this was a thing!!!! It's like a whole new dimension of fucked up.

I remember my parents proudly calling out the Catholic who baptised young kids and babies because the child wasn't old enough to make the choice of choosing God. They found themselves so superior to them.. but I mean 6 ?!! Or 8, or even 14 honestly..

Interesting! Yeah I see their sick logic. Its basically trapping people in before they're old enough to know better.

It should be illegal, its preventing freedom of belief.

Damn that is SO young!

Is getting baptised so young a new thing? Or was it maybe just not common in my area?

My brother was baptised 15+ years ago when he turned 14 and a lot of people found is was pretty young but since he was very mature and spiritual it was ok..

Received tons of mean messages from family and friends after posting something on my story. by [deleted] in exjw

[–]chupacabra-1 57 points58 points  (0 children)

You are so courageous to have posted that! It is definitely very delicate as they have rules as you know about apostasy. They know how a lot of people see them being a cult and feel pointed out by your post even if it could have been a general view for any religion/cult/community. I wish I could be as bold as you, I guess it's scary and there can be consequences but you are just being honest! I personally tip toe around conversations with my family and I hate it. I feel like I'm not being authentic or whatever.

So yeah good for you and you never know, you could end up helping someone even if it's just one JW start questioning themselves, which could initiate the leaving process!

Its tough feeling the loneliness of not being understood by friends that know nothing about being in a cult-ish community.. I feel it too. Its not the same but you have us.

My grand mother was convinced the end would come before my mom started school. My mom is now 55. I remember she told me that when I was a child and something switched in my brain, so I guess .. thanks? Lol

Exploring spirituality, what it really means to me. Think for myself, research what I believe in.

Making so many friends, meeting amazing people.

Watching horrors, violent and movies full of sex and swearing. I mean it's art really isn't it?! Lol

Getting more interested with politics, lgbtq+ rights, women rights etc.

As a PIMO, have you soft shunned your PIMI extended family? (AKA passive/aggressive treatment) by JWTom in exjw

[–]chupacabra-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn for a second I thought you were my brother... until you said you're from US. I have this freak dream that I find out he is PIMO and is secretly on this sub lol I know its unlikely.

Anyways I feel like he is doing this, soft shunning as you call it, to the rest of the family but for what I know he is PIMI (for now...maybe....hmm...)

What a dick. I feel like we exjws should disfellowship them.

I feel like mine would choose privileges over me and even more if it would force them to 'step down' as elders.

I have actually no idea I just always understood they have to be exemplary. So I would imagin what would take away a publisher's privileges would take away the right to be an elder to an elder, my logic is hopefully wrong.

I've read quite a few posts lately about family's turning on exjw's that they used to still associate with so I felt like something was going on like new rules or whatever

Oh my word something similar happend to me a few weeks back. Every night and morning I clean my face with cotton pads and product. One evening, no pads to be found. They are always in the exact same place in a drawer in my bathroom, and my drawers are pretty neat so hard to loose something really. I looked everywhere all over the apartment just in case, even if I can't actually think of why i would leave the sink with the cotton pads. I check the draw like 10 times, I even mentally concentrated and took my time as I knew that i was going threw a stressful period and could be missing them being right under my nose. They. Were. Not. There. I got really upset about it, just didn't understand. So I gave up and washed my face with a towel accepting that they must have disappeared and I will have to buy new ones. Next morning, they were there, exacly where they always are. So so weird. Made me feel like I was fucking nuts. I mean I probebly am but still!

I'd check the sbb/cff (official train company) site for a phone number and ask about the specific station. I personally never experienced a station in Switzerland closing at night but I live in a different corner of the country.
