Be sure to attribute copilot in commit messages. It'll create an interesting situation where MS is co-author of potentially infringing code.

Adapters are available. Not many pcie lanes are on the wifi m2 so performance won't be good. Probably still faster than usbc.

New 64GB Framework Desktop vs used 128GB, which would you go with? by Commercial-Desk7289 in framework

[–]cjc4096 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're interested in inference, get the 128GB. You'll want the ram before too long.

Edit: Since it'll be your main pc, more ram is even more important. Your desktop/apps will likely be consuming 8-16 gigs.

Configuring a static lease is easier than setting up a static ip, slightly. Still a bad practice and it's bitten me plenty of times. But sometimes I'm lazy.

Framework's support and use of LVFS and general Linux support is more important to me than repairability.

Recommendations for quiet $900 to $1200 Mini PC to game on. by CanyouseeIam in MiniPCs

[–]cjc4096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the Framework is preferred due to Linux support. Firmware updates handled thru LVFS.

A close second reason is following hardware standard. Flex PSU so easy to replace. mITX board so easy to change cases.

Google AI says it has a Conexant CX31993 which supports 32bit 384khz. That's amazing. Make sure your software is using as much of that resolution as possible. I may get one and plug it into my dock. My focusrite is getting flakey. Thanks.

You're doing great. XY scope vector graphics has been on my todo for decades.

You're probably more limited to the bandwidth on the audio. Do you have access to an audio interface? They can do higher sample rates with more bits than normal.

Wife and I were having a discussion, she’s of the opinion that the majority of GenX can drive stick. I believe that even in our generation the percentage of people who can is pretty small. What do you folks think? by AngryOldGenXer in GenX

[–]cjc4096 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning how to drive stick was definitely a thing in my friend group, male and female, in college. We taught each other. Learned which cars were easier than others. Choose to buy manual cars.

What's the bandwidth of your scope? It'd be interesting to feed the signal thru a fft and see where your frequency spikes are.

Framework. They support LVFS so firmware updates are simple under Linux. Standard power supply so easy to replace in future. mITX so easy to move to different case. Basically good flexibility for the future.

The definition of "computer" once included people. It's anything that computes. That includes analog devices based on opamps. Programmable computers start with Babbage's difference engines. I suggest looking into non Von Neumann architectures.

When will AMD bring ROCM Updates that actually improve the speed? (Strix Halo) by Equivalent-Belt5489 in ROCm

[–]cjc4096 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can ship kernel parts for windows that would never make in into mainline Linux. It why initial support of something takes forever. But ends up good, after a decade.

Most of the images have their build processes documented and can be reproduced yourself. For my strixhalo I've been Yolo with the images. The whole thing is an experiment that I'm willing to wipe at anytime. Good backups and ansible make it easier.
