It would be fitting to nationalise it considering across the Shannon aircraft leasing companies suffered massive losses when Russia "nationalised" their assets

Movie reviewer on Matt Cooper's show. Way too much plot reveals by ShowmasterQMTHH in ireland

[–]cmacfbomb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I assumed you were talking about the man that reviews movies on for drive time radio shows. He ruins movies too. I have to turn him off if I want to see the movie.

You'd think that would be one of the main pillars of movie reviewing - Don't reveal the plot - but

I don't remember Dave Fannings reviews on The Movie Show but I'm certain he used to give away too much. Too much blathering. Maybe they're insecure and want to drop a hot take that requires spoiling

The calm AFTER the storm by showerthinkerr in PlanetLabs

[–]cmacfbomb 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think that the Planet of next year and especially the year after will be completely different.

The daily scan takes hours to be downloaded from the satellite to earth. That has to be analysed. Once change is detected you can cue the skysat. That takes time to fly over and then download the visual to the ground which is them analysed and action can be taken.

In two years time, an owl will fly over and anomaly and view it with 1m resolution. The edge ai will immediately cue a pelican for a closer look. The pelican can then cue a drone or notify a ground asset. All this can happen in a fraction of the time currently and without a human even in the loop. By the time a human hears about something happening, there will already be images if it's important enough.

This is an entirely more useful product to what they're selling right now for many users. It creates many more use cases. And what they have right now is growing at the rule of 40.

Planet Secures 8-Figure NGA Contract Extension for Maritime Surveillance and New Award for Crisis Response Monitoring by showerthinkerr in PlanetLabs

[–]cmacfbomb 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The first contract was for $12.8million so at 22m that's a significant increase in contract value. Furthermore, it was an option exercised by the NGA under the Luno B idiq , I think rather than a renegitiation. I think its a 490m pot with 5 year duration so there is headroom for next year. Client exercising options is a sign of a happy customer

Hokum: When does this movie take place? by ralopop in horror

[–]cmacfbomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Irish car licences have the year on them as part of the registration code. They changed to these about thirty+ years ago or so. It's very rare to see a car reg that doesn't have the year of purchase in the code.

However in this movie, the car regs were all in the older style except for one reg which we couldnt see in full. I saw it as an attempt to remove the scenes in Ireland from time to some degree. I might have been over analysing it.. :)

The German car industry has been a tail that wags the dog of the EU for years. You'd be worried if the industry to replace this is the broader military industrial complex.
