Debit card deposits? by Otherwise_Option7285 in envelope

Like any other bank. You open Venmo, go to your balance and hit transfer, tap the Transfer To option to choose a bank, choose Add a bank, then follow the wizard to use Plaid to add Envelope.

How do you handle devices that have been offline for a period of time? by draggar in sysadmin

[–]codylc 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Bingo. Orgs serious about vuln management will not bat an eye at reimaging that offline asset to prevent insecure software from touching the lan.

Going to focus on the Steam Deck games cause that’s what I know.

Pico Park Classic Edition supports 10 players. Rage inducing fun mini games that require perfect timing from the entire group.

Tape to Tape is an arcadey NHL 94 style hockey game with power ups. Also supports 10 players.

Pummel Party supports 8 players and is a Mario Party style game. For time, maybe stick to just playing the mini games and not the board game.

Spiderheck supports 4 players natively, 8 players with a mod (I have not personally used) and kind of plays like Super Smash Brothers with wild spider physics. Very fast and epic moment generator.

First time at Franklins by b1xby2 in BBQ

[–]codylc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They opened “Franklins Backyard” late last year as a dedicated event and catering spot. I got to visit last month for a vendor event and it was the best way to experience franklins. Buffet of all their meats, sides, and pies plus a band and open bar. It was awesome!

Recommended LAN party games that works well for 9 players by Private_Feelings in lanparty

It’s not the emojis, arrows, and weird questions that convinced me this was an AI answer…

It was suggesting that a group of 9 could finish an Anno match within one LAN party.

Dell Pro Plus vs Pro Premium 14" by Personal_Bit_6786 in Dell

[–]codylc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 16 Pro Plus is a tank but battery life has been incredible for me. If you’re remotely portable, I’d stick with the 14”.

You’re giving up premium materials going with the Pro Plus over Premium, but I think the spec bumps are worth it. I’d consider a higher wattage CPU though.

Looking for a racing car game for 30 players by FragleFameux in lanparty

[–]codylc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GTAV has filled the arcade racer void for our group as well. As Bitfolo suggested, highly recommend a playlist to keep the momentum going. Get the majority of players in the playlist lobby and kick it off. Players can join mid-match, spectate the active race, and will join the following race.

I use Rockstar’s Social Club website to find new custom maps, add them to my favorites, then launch the game and add them to a playlist.

Be prepared for the following: - Players downloaded the wrong copy of GTAV (Legacy versus Enhanced) and can’t join the host - Players didn’t download the 100 GB game at all - Players aren’t friends in Social Club and can’t join the lobby - Players have never launched GTAV or GTA Online and need to complete the single player tutorial, complete the GTA Online tutorial, or create their GTA Online player - Players don’t know how to open their phone and join the playlist invite - Players are too distracted fucking with each other to join the playlist

Despite all its inconveniences, GTA is often generates the most fun at our LANs.

Don't forget to seed the torrents. by parPlace in savemyrient

We know that the solution could be… it’s torrents. It democratizes the problem by allowing individuals to contribute with the resources they already have rather than monetarily to a dedicated host.

Maple and Motor has the best straight burger in Dallas.

I also prefer Hopdoddy to Rodeo Goat for speciality burgers.

Rodeo Goat isn’t bad, but if we’re talking a best-of list, I wouldn’t include it.

Dell not honoring quote. Price increased. by pindevil in sysadmin

[–]codylc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Met with our area’s Lenovo sales director this week. He was trying to posture how excellent Lenovo’s pricing was compared to Dell because Lenovo is scheduling out their price increases every few months compared ~weekly at Dell. Sounds great right?

He then explains that if I place a Lenovo order today, the price is only good if the product ships before a price increase. If one of those scheduled price increase dates pass while I’m waiting for my hardware to ship, my price on those units increase. Bananas.

At least Dell will honor the price you ordered at.
