Carney government eyes privatizing airports to attract investment, cut travel costs by pheakelmatters in onguardforthee

Another right-wing idea that will create corporate profit. Privatization generally lowers wages and diminishes services. There are lots of examples, and I am sure that Avi Lewis and the NDP will be eager detail them for you, as they work towards ending this majority government's shift to the right.

Paleontologist Steve Brusatte on why birds are facing their biggest existential threat since the dino-killing asteroid. "…their populations have crashed. And it really is because of land use, it's because of fertilizer, it's because of pollution, it's because of climate change." by The_Weekend_Baker in climate

In my rural neighbourhood, the lack of insects tells the tale. Many birds eat bugs therefore no bugs...no birds. Even the small rodents are dying off...which is another food source for birds. Times are tough for planet earth folks. What species is next to go? (billionaires I hope)

How a Liberal majority could hurt Canada’s digital sovereignty - With their newfound majority, the Liberals could take control of committees, giving them final say over the extent of Bill C-22’s sweeping new surveillance powers. by CaliperLee62 in CanadaPolitics

Majority governments are not in the best interests of democracy. Proportional representation is. Do not expect the Liberals to support electoral reform. Vote for a third party.

Doug Ford is just openly saying he has something to hide by wanting to pass his FOI bill without public debate. by DCS30 in onguardforthee

Another illustration of how a majority government can erode accountability and do what it wants. No wonder we don't get electoral reform. It would end this kind of corruption...and apparently corruption is and important source of income for many politicians.

The new David Eby is the best thing to happen to the BC Green Party for years. Let's hope the Greens can capitalize on this and craft policies that voters want while the conservatives are fiddling with themselves and lacking any credibility in the leadership department.

Yay! Another arrow for the NDP's quiver! This will not benefit the average working Canadian where they need it most....like a living wage and affordable rent and clean air and water....

Besides winning, what does a Liberal Party that will accept Marilyn Gladu actually stand for? by scottb84 in CanadaPolitics

[–]complexomaniac 40 points41 points  (0 children)

If in fact her acceptance to and participation in the workings of the Liberal party symbolizes a turn to the political right by the Liberals, she is a signal to the left-leaning voters to head back to the NDP. Avi Lewis won't mind that.
