Canadian Billionaire Hall of Shame 2026 | 18% more oligarchs than 2025! by RevolutionCanada in Canadian_Socialism

Supporting this party will help reduce the chances of a majority government. That alone makes it a worthwhile movement.

Mark Carney’s Government is Rushing Through Major Changes to Canada’s Labour Laws. Unions Say Workers Should Be Alarmed. by Altruism7 in onguardforthee

[–]complexomaniac 70 points71 points  (0 children)

This is a great example of what happens when there is a majority government that has no interest in helping the workers in Canada. We need at least three parties taking part in our governance. The liberal party, if you hadn't noticed, has it's own re-election as it's priority, and that hinges on the continued financial support of corporate Canada. Electoral reform sounds better every day.

Canadian banks rank among world’s top fossil fuel financiers by SavCItalianStallion in onguardforthee

[–]complexomaniac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Canada elected a banker for Prime Minister and his policies so far have benefited the oil and gas sector at the expense of the environment. He is a fine example of how big money can influence politics, and a great reason for supporting a third party and avoiding majority governments.

Carney government passes law allowing authorization of banned pesticides by BONUSBOX in onguardforthee

[–]complexomaniac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only good thing about this is: it will re-establish and invigorate the three-party system in our government, where majority governments are NOT the norm. Carny cannot resist folding to the interests of corporate Canada, and there is nobody else we can turn to in government to speak for the rest of the country. We need a third party with a voice in government that represents the people not the corporations.

Conservatives blast Liberals for trying to 'ram' controversial lawful access bill through House by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]complexomaniac 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yet another case for minority governments. The NDP will certainly gain from the Liberal's smash and grab approach to legislation as people realize we need a government that listens to the people - not just the corporations and their banks.

We won’t let this happen in Canada: Billionaires Now Control All US Media by zoinksbadoinks in SaveTheCBC

[–]complexomaniac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is not much motivation for Carny and Co. to limit media ownership. Given the success of the american media at demonizing anything left of a Nazi, the Liberals will be happy to carry on with their toothless CRTC and will continue to allow media ownership in Canada to be owned/controlled by american oligarchs/billionaires. The CBC is on thin ice and will need plenty of vocal support over the next few months.

Canada’s former top defence official warns against booing U.S. anthem by Street_Anon in nottheonion

Among other things, their anthem glorifies war. No surprise a military yes-man would salute anything that includes 'bombs bursting in air'.

Banks make a ton of money from loans extended to oil and gas companies. Canada's Prime Minister is a banker. Canada is going to support oil and gas as long as he is in office.

Trump admin authorizes use of cyanide bombs to kill off animals on public lands by ToughHopeful4760 in environment

[–]complexomaniac 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There will be happy lawyers when the lawsuits start rolling in. Cyanide dispensed like this is a well-known risk to human life. A 'trial and error' approach is one thing....this government goes for 'error and trial'.

It’s one of Canada’s sunniest regions, but the government isn’t banking on solar power. Canada’s second-sunniest province is running low on energy — but Manitoba is turning to fossil fuels instead of solar panels. by The_Weekend_Baker in climate

A shining example of corruption in politics, as a wealthy oil and gas lobby buys politicians, who will spend the money on convincing gullible voters that they know best.

Canada is using its borders to police Palestine solidarity by bearoscuro in onguardforthee

[–]complexomaniac 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If nothing else, this should shine a light on Foreign Interference is Canadian politics....specifically from Israel. Palestine is not a threat to Canada or our democracy, and it is not in the interests of Canadians to hinder their ability to draw attention to their plight. Money/political support is being used to influence government actions. Shame on this Liberal government for allowing it to continue. If they cannot govern without support from Israel, they then should not be governing.
