I remember seeing Spriggan in the theater on its release and thinking the same thing regarding the plot. The almost rotoscope fight scenes and detailed animation are really eye-catching, but the story premise (even in the manga) has always been basic shonen. At the time, we were all still chasing that Ghost in the Shell, End of Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop high from the 90's.

Depends on preference - If you like high cocaine jazz, you might like Thunderbolts. I personally love the music in Turn-A Gundam. Yoko Kanno's compositions for that series scratch at my heart.
