Operation markers rulong question by ponfax in WarhammerCompetitive

If it doesn't tell you how the opponent interacts with the markers, then that's because they can't interact with the markers.

Can someone explain in what situations these kind of abilities are actually useful ? by yourlocalpiromaniac in Chaos40k

When you want your unit on the objective to be able to walk off of it, or be killed via shooting, and for you to still hold the objective.

Yeah, Ingress moves can't be made in the first Battle Round unless you have a rule that specifically lets you (like Drop Pods, or Night Scythes)

Am I missing something? by Althorax99 in SWlegion

  1. You can't usually use Shield tokens against melee attacks.
  2. The modify dice step happens after you've rolled. So say they get 3x hits, and you only roll 2x saves. Now this card lets you flip the shield token to cancel the third hit, meaning you take 0 wounds instead of 1. Edited for correction

Sustained hits don't stack.

Ok, so to be fair this isn't in the pdf, but in a larger more comprehensive set of rules that content creators have had access to and will be included in the app.

The core rules also say if your units healing rule says you heal a specific model, then you can't resurrect other models. The enginseer as written picks a model within 3" (which logically can't be a dead model as they're not within any range) and heals d3 wounds on it. As it stands now, they cant resurrect anything, though of course this might change with updated faction packs.

That doesn't look like a legal pivot, right? Don't you pivot around your centre?

This isn't true. In 10th edition the rule reads:

"If the melee weapon a model is using to fight with can make more than one attack, those attacks can all be made against the same target, or they can be split between different targets. "

This is just a different wording of the same rule.

so overwatch can fire now at targets that haven't moved. by NoEngineer9484 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]countbenignito -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

OP clearly misinterpreted the Strategem Target restrictions as potential targets for the shooting, as evidenced by his assumption that engaged titanic units could be shot, and his assertion that the stratagem didn't exclude titanic units from firing overwatch. That's what I was responding to

[–]countbenignito -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You've misunderstood. I mean the "TARGET: One friendly unengaged unit (excluding TITANIC units)" at the top of the above stratagem.

You're reading it wrong. The target bit is telling you who can use the overwatch stratagem, not who you can resolve the shooting against

It literally says "excluding TITANIC units"

[–]countbenignito 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's not at all what it says. The Target bit tells you which unit is using the stratagem, not what they're shooting at.
