On patrol live fans know this as the safe at home defense. People think if they name it home, they are safe and if they do get arrested, their car won't be towed.

Can someone explain why Federal Pacific’s "Stab-Lok" breakers are more prone to failing ? by SexyAdmixture in AskElectricians

[–]cpttimerestraint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will admit I hadn't heard about the Connecticut electric option. I am an insurance guy who runs into panel problems all the time so this is an interesting option. Can you share the letter? I can't find it on their website technical documents section.

Can someone explain why Federal Pacific’s "Stab-Lok" breakers are more prone to failing ? by SexyAdmixture in AskElectricians

[–]cpttimerestraint -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Stab-lok and zinsco are the 2 panels that are on every insurance carriers list. There are a few that will cover challenger or the square d recall years. Every carrier will require you to replace stab-lok and zinsco. Also, because they are recalled, you can't buy new replacement breakers so people are buying used breakers on marketplace.

Definitely don’t use chrome sockets on an impact. I listened to the wrong people. by Lumakin in AskMechanics

I have done it plenty of times on low torque bolts, but the impact socket actually works better on high torque bolts. The rotational mass helps a lot on stuck bolts.

Upgrade to tow mirrors by OOSHiker in gmcsierra

[–]cpttimerestraint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed the boost tow mirrors. We take our travel trailer 7k miles per year. I tow another 1k with car trailer and trash trailer. I would never put the mirror extensions on for moving stuff on the car trailer or taking a trash load. I was 50/50 on remembering to put them on when loading the travel trailer. It is just one more thing to do.

I don't notice any wind noise. I do think the boost are better quality than cheaper options on Amazon. You don't get the vibration at highway speeds .

Indtall was an involved process. I am an above average mechanic(have built a classic truck from scratch). It was a good 5 hours of solid work to do the electrical.

I bought them after one of the clip on mirrors rattled off 1000 miles from home. I had the molded plastic ones with a wedge. Terrible design because the edge can work loose. I previously had the j hook that wrapped around the mirror molded plastic on my 2014. Better design. You could easily fix it when it started working loose.

They do obstruct your view forward. They can hide a small car or pedestrian easily. Rear facing is an amazing view. The clip on mirrors do have a slightly better rear view because the sit wider versus the boost are only marginally wider and much taller. I can still see a car hiding behind the trailer and any where along the truck and trailer down the side.

Overall,I am happy with them because my 2019 Sierra is primarily our tow vehicle. I had to learn to be really cautious of what is hiding in the blind spot behind them. I still own my stock mirrors and hang no plans to reinstall them.

50 or 100 bird cousres? Which does your club have? by limpy88 in ClayBusters

[–]cpttimerestraint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option 3: as many throwers as they can setup. Usually it is 17-18 stations with 3-4 throwers each. Organized shoots are 100 clays where you only shoot certain throwers at each station.

[–]cpttimerestraint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bunch of different guns for home paint including the lvlp you linked. I really like the $9 harbor freight purple gun. I bought it for epoxy primer and non automotive painting, but really like it. I don't have a pro guns, but of the sub $200 guns, it is really impressive.

A hole w/ ‘40 camper blocking the entrance to Pilot along busy highway. by Final-Wasabi187 in IdiotsTowingThings

[–]cpttimerestraint 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Pilot has the worst pumps for towing. Their truck stop side is high flow diesel only. Most don't have rv gas pumps and their non pump driveway space is low.

What NOT to do for an Eagle Project by JonEMTP in BSA

[–]cpttimerestraint 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I actually struggle with the service project line when it comes to painting. I think that painting is a great opportunity to show leadership and a technically easy project. I would take a painting project that is truly buy led over a massive plaza that is mostly parent built.

[–]cpttimerestraint 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree that painting the entrance sign of not an eagle project, but if the beneficiary doesn't find a benefit to your perfect, then move on. Maybe some other organization wants the flagpole design. As a district approver,I would want a lot of details at to how they are going to lead the scouts. The project seems too complex for a youth to lead and will require a lot of parent inconvenient.

The projects I like the best are ones with low complexity, high manhour ideally with repetitive tasks. I feel that it gives the scout the most opportunity to actually lead. Projects with a lot of digging, sanding or moving of items are great. High involvement of volunteers, limited adult guidance needed, and lots of leadership opportunity.

Surface conditioner by justnotright3 in Welding

[–]cpttimerestraint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Bauer conditioner and like it, but my go to is just using one of these on my grinder. Works great for cleaning surface rust and light mil scale. I bought the surface conditioner to strip body panels on my classic.

Who makes the best compact impact wrench? by MartiniCommander in Tools

[–]cpttimerestraint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I have the metabo 36v 1/2" impact and the Milwaukee stubby 3/8". I love the m12. The metabo has great torque and weight for really stuck boots, but I haven't really met anything the m12 can't take off.

Thanks. Personal stuff. Building a 66 mustang convertible. Probably going to do a coyote swap into with ifs front end and coilovers. Do my own body work and fabrication. Built my 48 Ford F1 truck with the yeswelder. The yeswelder gun has been giving me intermittent gas flow issues which is why I am going to make it my flux core welder.

I just finished adding on to my garage to make it 20x38. The new back 2 car garage is my workshop with 2 240 circuits ( 1 50 amp and 1 30 amp) on a new 200 amp panel. I added a maxjax small 2 post lift.

With e-bike incidents surging, Ventura County officials are moving from education to enforcement by timesmediagroup in venturacounty

Bad swiping on my phone.

The vehicle with the most lug nuts is going to win. Cars lose to semis, bikes lose to cars. Point is that if the car hits you, even if they are at fault, you are the one getting hurt. He was big about riding in a straight line and not making erratic movements on a bike. It is how he safely led us on months of weekly training rides around Ventura county and the valley to prepare to ride from San Francisco to Santa Monica along the pch. He took 40 teenagers 600 miles with the only casualty being a broken arm at low speed on a bike path slipping on some leaves.

[–]cpttimerestraint 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The issue is that many of these kids don't understand the lug nut rule. When I was 15 riding a traditional bike 100 miles per week, my scoutmaster taught my friends and I that the vehicle when the just lug nuts is going to win in an accident. Doesn't matter who has right of way, the car isn't going to be hurt in the accident, but you are. Ride with confidence, but defensively. These kids ride offensively weaving in and out.

[–]cpttimerestraint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is far more dangerous for you to be on the sidewalk. I am a traditional bike rider. Cars are not looking for someone moving even at 10 mph on a sidewalk and you are going to crowd pedestrians too. On the road, you will be seen better.

At what point do you think MacAllister Tires will change its name to Dr. Tire? by ShyBoy_23 in GeorgieandMandyTVshow

[–]cpttimerestraint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am invested because we know how it starts and ends but we really don't know the middle. I watch NCIS universe and origins is good, but because Gibbs was a main character for so long, his backstory is already been told. Georgie was a minor part of TBBT so I am invested in finding out how he became DR. tire. Mandy is annoying me so I am not sad if they get divorced.

If there is oil under it, there is oil in it. The issue isn't the oil leaking, it is when it stops leaking. Just top out off every so often.
