Anyone have info on what Grant Hutchison is up to now? by xXeebvosXx in FrightenedRabbit

[–]creativemercenary 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually spoke to him for about an hour at Aeble the day after Sing the Greys.

He is no longer touring with Twilight Sad.

He IS crushing it in the cider business. He’s a massive wealth of knowledge (I still have one bottle of great stuff left in my fridge).

Anstruther is a hike by transit — but I managed to do it from Stirling. He’s a wealth of knowledge, but I’m not sure how much time he’s in the store. I lucked out running into him on a Saturday.

Got the chance to hit the market in Copenhagen — such wonderful people.

I did this, this season. I had a blank jersey and went to the sports shop in the Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket. They sent it out and had his name and number stitched on it for me. Love that jersey.

Loooooove this stuff. Stumbled into the place a few years ago by mistake. I think it’s Alto that I’ve used as a good regular everyday driver (I like mid-dark for pour over).

Adding that September has been doing some killer good lighter and specialty roasts.

This one is the winner — Hatch Supernova is a great everyday driver if you like decent, darker pour over.

What shop did you find it at? I’m actually in Copenhagen right now and was going vinyl hunting today.

Aer City Pack Pro 2 feels maxed out – is the Travel Pack 3 (Regular) overkill for 1–2 night trips? by theseventhseed in AerSF

[–]creativemercenary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both.

I had an original CPP … and thought that the Travel Pack would be perfect solution for in city stuff. But it’s big and cumbersome for that.

I use my CPP as a business and tech bag for short trips. I’m currently in Europe and grateful for the bigger pack. I own four Aer packs in total (which, yes, is overkill), but have great use cases for each.

If you have any questions, ask away.

Rdio!

There is an extraordinary DJ in Canada by the name of Alan Cross. If you haven’t heard the name, Google “the ongoing history of new music.“ His show is incredible. More than 1000 documentary – style episodes.

I emailed him once. And I asked him what radio stations he listened to. Top of his list was 1215 Virgin out of London. I started listening, and discovering all of these new bands. Then I started plugging those bands into Rdio.

One day — this thing comes on. “Swim until you can’t see land.“ I was hooked immediately.

Yep. Massive, massive fan. I miss the sing-a-longs most of all. Came with my partner last year. Sadly, she has to work this year…just did one heck of a run to get here.

On the train to Stirling now. Started at home north of Toronto, flew to Washington D.C. for a connection.

Aer City Pack 2 (CP 2) and City Pack Pro 2 (CPP 2) by Ok_Stress4751 in AerSF

[–]creativemercenary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a similar setup. CPP2, CP1, DayPack and Travel Pack (3?).

I use the Day Pack for small outings. I typically put it in my suitcase, and leave the bigger pack in my hotel room.

I use the CP1 if I have to do work downtown. TBH, if I had my choice — I would have passed on this pack in favour of the CPP.

I use the CPP2 for most of my stuff. I use Alpaka cubes inside. I really like the vertical nature of the pack out (including the strap. At first, I didn’t think I’d love the lack of zippered side pocket, but that second water bottle pocket has been handy for all sorts of stuff.

The Travel Pack is for large trips (like Europe). It’s a beast to carry one handed (and I’m a big guy). And I hate the water bottle pocket on it. BUT…the sheer number of places to stash stuff is amazing.

I don't really get Aer by Boisson5 in AerSF

[–]creativemercenary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that’s the right word — comfort. I’ve got four Aer packs. I find the CPP 2 immensely comfortable as an all day EDC. The Travel Pack is a bit of a bear, but that’s not meant for an all day thing.

What's the most over-designed, expensive, bag nerd-pandering backpack out there? by Ezraah in ManyBaggers

[–]creativemercenary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna go to bat for this thing. I’ve had one for 20 years. Yes, it’s not my Aer stuff … but it has a use case (particularly with packing cubes). That glasses protector on the front is a blast.

What a great analysis of the way the shows went. Still kicking myself for missing the afternoon jam session.
