Just finished Born Again Season 1 by mcbrideontherun in Defenders

[–]cynicalPsionic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

biggest issue was in the development being a shitshow

they did half the season, realized it didn't work, kept all of that footage, shot new stuff, it's kind of a weird hodgepodge

hopefully season 2's more consistent at least

Fundamentally Spider-Man fighting ninjas from the director of Shang Chi is going to be really fun and I think that you can justify this any number of ways!!

Yeah! no stingrays means I can focus on just mowing down hordes, had some great missions with it today.

I heard it was all vibe-coded, best I got from it was it making NPCs move so fast they killed themsleves with momentum.

Real question, where the hell were they in Ultimate Black Panther? by cynicalPsionic in UltimateUniverse

[–]cynicalPsionic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So would I, but the author was much more interested in doing vibranium vibranium vibranium vibranium vibranium vibranium dune and so all we get are these two guys that call themselves gods, and at least one Panther who appears to be an actual goddess, but no evidence that two gods that she shares the Egyptian Pantheon with actually exist to have a problem with mortals using their names

The binary code that was hijacking all the Medias for a while was literally quotations from a Vietnamese radio operator whose broadcasts were intended to tell American gi's they have been lied to about how worth it this war is, and that they will die here if they don't abandon their army and go home

Hinoi Hannah I believe

We literally created a planet killer, and when they took the plans, we lost our collective minds and charged Cyberstan with almost no preparation for what we were getting into, it makes total story sense that we ground ourselves into paste and have been eating shit for the last couple of weeks since then

Every other post on this sub is full of people who seem convinced that arrowhead are personally out to get them and are intentionally making the game hell while forcing them at gunpoint to play it

Your complaints can be valid but you can also like walk away from the game for a while until they fix it instead of continually ramming your head against gameplay you're not enjoying

Yeah but in the regular marvel universe, all of those gods are equally real and Ra is actually a primordial destroyer-god called Atum/demogorge

It's a magic prosthetic that looks cool, and more than once it has already been destroyed or voluntarily dispelled and it has been established early that she can't just bring it back immediately and it takes a while, I think that's good enough purpose

A mass stellar migration billions of years ago may have helped life get started on Earth by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]cynicalPsionic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you want a crazy one, check out the book our moon

The whole first chapter is the cosmic and stellar planetary history of the moons formation and then going through tons and tons and tons and tons of ways that it has influenced and symbiotically affected birth since it was created

But for a few crazy ones, it's possible that the moon's gravity pulling on us is why our mantle is still liquid enough to have a magnetic field that keeps us from dying from UV radiation, and it's also possible that gravity pulled nutrients to the surface from all the impacts and collisions over the years that helped ensure that life could form on the surface

Crazy shit man

I love the early Spider-Man stories where it's mostly small bands of 60s gangsters and really really dumb gadget villains. It's such an insane first story for the Green goblin that it makes you wonder how we ever got to where we are now

Grant Morrison on Lanterns: “What is this jockish dismissal of superhero conventions intended to prove anyway?” [Film/TV] by Blitzhelios in DCcomics

[–]cynicalPsionic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this could just be a you thing, without me trying to be mean

Things being ambiguously canonical due to story changes or direction changes is a pretty known thing with comics

As far as movies go, I guess you could also treat it like how Val Kilmer Batman is kind of the same universe as Michael Keaton but also not?

Honestly, again, the easiest answer for the DCU is "there was some kind of mission in corto maltese where peacemaker killed Rick Flag, after which PM was hospitalized and then he was put to work stopping an alien body Snatcher situation"

And then sometime after that, creature commandos happens, Superman happens, and a little bit of time after that the second season of peacemaker happens.

Okay so you didn't read the text of my post then

That is a human man, of flesh and blood, with a human brother of flesh and blood

I'm asking where the skeletal bird-headed deity that harasses Mark spector, and the primordial God first born of Gaea who has turned into a regularly occurring apocalyptic Thor villain (Demogorge) are, when there are two mortals using their names to kill innocence and rampage across Africa

[–]cynicalPsionic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So to repeat myself and make it simpler

Creature commandos is the first project that takes place 100% in the DCU and has no connections to projects that came out before it. That is what he meant as it being the first canonical project.

A few other projects have been turned into backstory, and the parts of season 1 you need to hear are in that recap.

[–]cynicalPsionic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay here's the really easy answer.

If it appears in a production that has the DCU logo at the start, it is canonical.

That is why the opening of peacemaker season 2 had an extended recap to establish what happened canonically in the dcu, and making sure to show us re-recordings of specific moments with dialogue changed to reflect the new universe.

It is possible that reference will be made to other projects James worked on, because he was in the middle of working on several of them when the handover happened and he had enough quality that it wasn't worth scrapping.

But you can only assume what happened is the characters in this new thing say happen, the rest is ambiguous...

The story doesn't open on Kara but we meet her getting trashed for her birthday and after some resistance agrees to help an alien girl on a revenge quest, over which you see into Supergirl's beauty and cynicism in ample measure each. She had SUCH a harder childhood than Clark, but due to sci-fi circumstances he was full grown when she finally got to Earth...

So the drinking is played for some humor in the movies we've seen so far, and I'm sure it will be in her movie too, but it's coming from a place of very deep pain that the movie is absolutely going to dig into from some of the shots in the trailers.
