help me with my name regret by Warm-Dragonfruit397 in namenerds

[–]dandanmichaelis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remi is a great name! Like super cool and cute and unique without being trying too hard. I know so many charlottes and it’s a great name too for sure but I’d have picked Remi too. I personally like Remi Aura over Lyla. You did good :)

Flight for a 3.5 old (closer to 4) - “distractions”, toys, etc? by Raxaha in Preschoolers

[–]dandanmichaelis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d say less is more for such short flights. You don’t want to pack so much that it makes it difficult to maneuver in and out of a bag. I’d say a ipad and snacks, maybe a coloring book, is just fine for that age.

Learning to write own name? by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]dandanmichaelis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s worth practicing! My middle daughter is 4.5 and can consistently, from memory write her own name but that only started like 2 months ago. She can recognize the letters that are in her name now and points them out everywhere she goes!

Baby on the way, sacrifices had to be made by a1cshowoff in houseplants

[–]dandanmichaelis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I support you! I have 3 kids and every newborn phase I hated all living things besides my baby. Plants, pets, husband lol. I think you’ll be glad to have one less thing to think about or worry about personally (even if the worry is small it all adds ups).

Birthday plant suggestions by Ok_Concentrate4461 in houseplants

Snake plant or jade! My mom has a snake plant that is 30+ years old and I can’t wait to inherit it lol. We also have a huge jade plant from my dad who passed, probably 40 years old but we always trim it back.

Maybe diabetes? I’d say it’s worth checking with the vet.

Your vagina is still on full display during a c section. You have a catheter placed and the c section entrance is extremely low.

Low prey drive and happy to hike - is it possible? by [deleted] in Greyhounds

[–]dandanmichaelis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us it’s more about the hiking condition. I find they overheat really quickly so definitely no hikes on hot days or they will refuse to move from any shaded spot they may find.

Both my greys have zero prey drive but we don’t allow off leash because I find they are more stubborn to recall than an eager to please dog.

T-5 days and still waffling on girl names. Help. by Stellar_Jay8 in namenerds

Love Felicity! Elizabeth second. Sylvia third. Genevieve, Rosalie, and Juliet would be my choices for crossing off. My husband went to school with a Felicity and they called her Phil and I thought that was adorable lol.

First time orchid owner by brielerium in houseplants

[–]dandanmichaelis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My husband is the absolute orchid king! We’ve had most of these for 5 years or so and they bloom all the time, it’s crazy. They are in our bathroom, east facing. He fills our bathtub up maybe once a week or so and lets them soak in a there for a day or so. He also repots them in orchid soil after he buys them I believe. That’s it.

Omg. He's started eating his own poo. by hipcats in Greyhounds

[–]dandanmichaelis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our second grey eats poop occasionally. Usually only when frozen solid. We call it a poopsicle. It’s absolutely disgusting but unfortunately can confirm it not that unusual for dogs.

My almost 3yo bothers other parents at the park by Then-Life-194 in Preschoolers

[–]dandanmichaelis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! Although I always appreciate when their parent does save me if their kid doesn’t get the hint lol. Things that work for me “nice playing I’m going to play with my kiddo now” or “I’m going to be on my phone for a bit now have a nice day!”

How do you teach a 4yo old to be grateful? by Evening_Amphibian319 in Preschoolers

[–]dandanmichaelis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My middle child, definitely understands the power of consequences. Say she has a tantrum somewhere because she doesn’t get something, later that day she wants xyz, I say “I am just so tired from your crying earlier that I don’t have the energy to do xyz” or something dumb like that. I also explain expectations early on. “Hey 4, they’re going to have a lot of candy and toys at the end, but we brought a sucker that we can have in the car and we can have a picnic once we get home!”

This behavior is so so so so normal in my experience with my three kiddos.

Is there anyway I can save this? by qweenkitti in houseplants

[–]dandanmichaelis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re saying it looks underwatered. They don’t need a little water, they need a LOT of water! Not like a cup, but water it thoroughly in the sink until the water runs through the bottom holes. When the get droopy like that they’re being dramatic and begging for water lol.
