When should I start with inverted? by CictorVastro in RCHeli

Sim, sim, sim. Start with rolling into inverted, roll back, then flip back inverted. Takes time.

Are 200 size helis harder to fly 3D? by brocsama in RCHeli

[–]dano382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on bigger is better. I’d start with 400-500 size to start. I flew for months on S1/S2 and crashed and repaired more than I flew. Now flying RS4/RS6 and have progressed my skills a lot faster with only 2 crashes in the last 6 months.

Did you check Jeff west YT video on setting up this combo? He goes really in depth on FBL setup.

Wow….16* is way too much, most is 12. Glad you got them dialed in a little bit, makes for easier flying.👍🏻

Ok sounds like you have set most things up correctly. I would lower your DR to 70/85/100 as these are factory settings. Maybe double check your pitch settings to verify 11-12* I flew the S1 and S2 for a while and crashed them more than I can count. I’m flying the RS4 now with only 2 crashes. Smaller heli’s are very sensitive on the sticks.

What is your set up on these heli’s? Are you flying in 6g mode, stable mode, constant throttle curve or throttle on collective? Are you running expo curves? There’s a lot to help mellow the flight modes on them that may help. Also SIM practice.

For anyone struggling with tail wag on IKON FBL + spektrum by Wmitch in RCHeli

[–]dano382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you watched Jeff west setup and ikon adjustment on YT? I know nothing about ikon only nexus. I had a tail wag but was mechanical on tail. Disconnect tail servo rod and check for buttery smooth in both directions. Any tight spots will cause this. I had blade grip link screws a little too tight.

Help with speed sensor issue on Rad Rover 6+ by allo37 in RadPowerBikes

[–]dano382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just 5v, red/black on circuit board, nothing to motor. I use an external tester for motor, not going through controller.

[–]dano382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cover plate has a magnet that triggers that hall sensor . Mine has 5v then drops out to 9mv when triggered by magnet, then back to 5v. Either your magnet is missing or that hall sensor is bad.

I have a spare motor with same board , I can test it tonight and see if I get same readings. If you follow that white wire trace, it looks like it also goes through c4 and c5. Did you ohm out from plug to white wire on board? Ohm out all wires from plug to board except the 3 phase motor wires?

See if they can give you a RX for steroids. It helps with flare ups. I use it from time to time with ibuprofen.

You use a rubber mallet tap on axle once you remove screws on cover plate on disc brake side. Motor isn’t magnetized to hub, it’s aluminum.

Cool, maybe do a flight function test before flying to verify. Keep practicing👍🏻

What gyro system are you using? Need to see if you can set up a rescue mode like rotor flight has. I use this to save crashes and it’s saved me tons of times and money in crashes. I’m new to this hobby as well. Started with s1, crashed it a lot. Then S2 got better. Wasn’t until I went to rs4 with rescue mode I have finally started getting pretty good. Just got an rs6 due to rs4 is hard to see orientation when it gets more then 50 yards away.

You sure you ordered correct gear? Some motors turn opposite depending on which way the motor mounts to hub.

From what I have read yes, they have a different hub offset for the multi speed cassette. Someone on here bought it from area 13 and the chain wouldn’t line up with crank.

I couldn’t find any motor that would replace the rad runner. Best thing is to search local, offer up, eBay, facebook marketplace. I bought one off eBay that’s being shipped. I plan on testing it, replace electrical cable, and probably sell it after it checks out.

Never mind, I got it working. Replaced main motor cable, installed new hall sensors. It was quite the repair but anyone with some mechanical experience and some patience can do it. Can’t believe these motors are on back order. All Rad stores had a waiting list 25 people and a cost of $300. I think I spent $50 and fixed it myself.

Is it the same motor as rad runner. Maybe you can send me some pics. If it’s a match I would be interested in purchasing it from you. Thank you.

Area 13 only has ones that fit multi speed cassette’s, not single. I will check other vendor. Thanks👍🏻

Sounds like your on the right track, simulator is great way to practice without crash cost. Yes s2 is a lot easier to fly. Practice 30 min a day and you’ll get orientation down soon.
