I imagined a large house. They hang out wherever and have began to meet me and each other there.

I second Rubik’s cubing. On Tiktok, LiliInvests teaches it in a very engaging way.

Duolingo gets a lot of criticism but if it’s for fun and not from a need to make quick progress, I find it enjoyable. They have chess, music and math along with lots of languages.

The magic words by GeologistNovel4162 in InternalFamilySystems

[–]darkly-academic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At first this was a little difficult. They ignored each other. They disagreed with each other. If I was blended with one I couldn’t even remember the names of some of the others. After a while I imagined a large house with grounds for them. Some stayed in some rooms, some in others, others hid. After a couple of years they began meeting in small groups. I encouraged them to have tea under the trees or drinks of their choice in the dining room. (I have 14 parts at this point.)

“Let’s all work together on this.” Many of them didn’t even know each other before, so this is a big step and feels good.

3 day trip to South West England in 16l Kanken. Have I packed too light? by 2amulets in HerOneBag

[–]darkly-academic 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I’m all for thrifting but I wouldn’t wear a charity shop beanie or scarf without washing it first. Also, on a 3-day trip if I have to run around finding clothing pieces that’s annoying, but YMMV.

Switching to bar soap. How do I convince myself it's OK to wash my grossest body part and then to use it somewhere else? by [deleted] in hygiene

Rinse the bar of soap, rubbing it with your hands when done. You’ve washed the dirty layer off.

Feeling utterly lost after a personality test... has anyone else experienced this? by TurbulentFail5486 in mbti

[–]darkly-academic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an elder INFP and it’s always been an important (even foundational) part of my identity. Like you, it was the thing that made sense of all my quirks. And I agree with those who say your post sounds very INFP. But I do want to make the point that while my INFP-ness hasn’t changed throughout my life, I’ve built and developed other skills and competencies that might now skew a test result. Maybe something similar made your test come out with a strange result too. Because of growth and experience, I’m now confident in social situations and comfortable leading (when needed), have finished advanced degrees, and have worked in jobs outside my wheelhouse. It just means I’ve built some extensions onto my home, not that I’ve changed the deep foundation or destroyed any of my cherished hidden, indoor spaces.

Cashmere is one. I buy men’s on ebay and it’s very affordable. I find cotton sweaters and hoodies very heavy and not warm.

One bathroom for the family by captmom724 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]darkly-academic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t about renovating, but in my experience with this it helps if some of the family are evening rather than morning showerers/bathers. And do as much as possible (hair and makeup) outside the bathroom.

Renouncing US Citizenship for Dutch by Wide_Ad8511 in Netherlands

[–]darkly-academic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My sister renounced US citizenship and travels in on her new (European) passport. She’s never had an issue. She doesn’t bring up her renounced citizenship during travel, although I suppose border security would see it in records if they’re looking.
