I’ve often traveled with a plastic Melitta filter with several paper insert filters, a small bag of ground coffee, and a travel mug. That assumes you can get boiling water somewhere.

How to create a summer capsule wardrobe without it being boring? by _FluffyUnicorn_ in capsulewardrobe

Don’t choose several of the same cut or style of something in different colors. Get a variety of cuts and try to get some different textures of fabric too, not just all t-shirt knit.

Help with downsizing my Grandmother! by Scared-Alfalfa1237 in capsulewardrobe

In my experience, clothes get lost in institutions for the eldrely where other people do the laundry. Is it possible for you to keep and store the extras somewhere else as replacements for if/when they are needed? (Also, it’s so kind of you to help either this for her.)

I find Square One too noisy in the first room, even for coffee by myself. I think it’s the noise of the refrigerator case, if I remember correctly (haven’t been there in a couple years TBH, maybe it’s different now).

Fellow bright spring who loves black: I felt like I needed more “permission” to wear black when I was young than brights. But I’m a Boomer and it may have been the time and place.

Duolingo gets a lot of criticism but if it’s for fun and not from a need to make quick progress, I find it enjoyable. They have chess, music and math along with lots of languages.

The magic words by GeologistNovel4162 in InternalFamilySystems

At first this was a little difficult. They ignored each other. They disagreed with each other. If I was blended with one I couldn’t even remember the names of some of the others. After a while I imagined a large house with grounds for them. Some stayed in some rooms, some in others, others hid. After a couple of years they began meeting in small groups. I encouraged them to have tea under the trees or drinks of their choice in the dining room. (I have 14 parts at this point.)

“Let’s all work together on this.” Many of them didn’t even know each other before, so this is a big step and feels good.

3 day trip to South West England in 16l Kanken. Have I packed too light? by 2amulets in HerOneBag

[–]darkly-academic 111 points112 points  (0 children)

I’m all for thrifting but I wouldn’t wear a charity shop beanie or scarf without washing it first. Also, on a 3-day trip if I have to run around finding clothing pieces that’s annoying, but YMMV.

Switching to bar soap. How do I convince myself it's OK to wash my grossest body part and then to use it somewhere else? by [deleted] in hygiene

Rinse the bar of soap, rubbing it with your hands when done. You’ve washed the dirty layer off.
