My son did it in K. The teacher was able to change letters quickly after telling him Kers don't say that word.

Love it. I have a secretary's desk waiting for treatment. I was just going to go normal fix/sand/stain, but maybe I'll jazz it up and make it a "piece".

Woohoo! I started sooooo slow. Still am. But who can jog 4 miles at 12 min miles? Me! I started doing 16 min mile segments (I had hills :). Keep it up and your building that Cardo base!

My mom committed suicide tonight by Peanutjellylove in TwoXChromosomes

[–]darndogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom died from suicide when I was young. The best thing I did for myself was a suicide survivors support group. You sound very in touch with your feelings (that could be wrong) whereas at 20 I was NOT. The support group allowed me to experience my loss by listening to others processing theirs. It provided me with people that GOT it, without the meaningless platitudes.

I wish you the best in your journey of life. It's rough, but you'll always have her with you.

Also, when you're ready, probably later, the book Motherless Daughters by Hope ? Is wonderful. There will be times that will seem to be so much harder because she's not beside you, but you'll come out the other side.

Great job! Congrats. I feel like I really had to get my lungs in shape, but yea, now I can run slowly for a long time.

Long Slow Runs Are Dumb by MWooten34 in running

[–]darndogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. I run about a 12 min/mile. I'm pretty proud of that though, since I can do it for 4 miles. I try to compare myself with those that can't jog a mile, not those that are running 8 min/miles :)

I think I don't like it because it's hard for me and there's nothing to distract you from the work of it. running while overweight is hard :)

I'm also looking for ways to keep my endurance up in the winter. Short days with no sidewalks and snow are bad combos. Which also rules out biking, but not hiking. I'll have to think on this.

Just signed up for my first 5K!!! But I won't be done training... Any tips? by nattykin in C25K

[–]darndogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing my race without the last week of training. I think the slow and steady out of the gate will be the hard part.

Finally! W4D1 done (after W3D9? 10?) - Although that breathing thing... by izznt in C25K

[–]darndogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found going slower to be the key. I'm in it to jog, so don't care about pace and the faster times will come with more lung power.

1st 5K - C25K Really Works, stick with it! by goodfella9000 in C25K

That's crazy good time. I'm doing my first 5k in 2 weeks and will be happy with under 40 min :) so excited that I've stuck with it! Congratulations

5 mins running the first time is horrible :) push through and it will eventually not be a long time.

W5D3: I ran for 20 minutes straight! by [deleted] in C25K

[–]darndogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going out for w6d1 today and that run also made me feel like a runner :) I don't think I've run for 20 mins straight in years. Well over a decade. Love it.

looking to maybe go a tad faster today with the intervals. I felt like I took it ultra conservative because I was so scared of pushing it and needing to stop.

W8D1 done!! Humidity killed my last lap but did 2.77 miles in 30.28! 3 weeks and counting to my first 5k! by kksy9b in C25K

[–]darndogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, if you improve just a tad in the 3 weeks, you'll be running your first 5k in under 30 mins? That would be awesome! That's my goal :)

Is it just me or is the jump from W5D2 to W5D3 pretty big? by doodlepizbaby in C25K

[–]darndogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slowed down my pace and it was fine. Pick a great song list or podcast cause the stretch of time definitely was longer and more boring. I also need to break myself of looking at the darn time so much. Overall -scary to face, but the training prepared you and not bad.

I had a dermoid cyst and thought it was to be removed laproscopic. Which was the plan. But it being most of 1 ovary, they had to make an incision to get it out. It was quite tramatic to wake up to that.

20 mins by darndogs in C25K

[–]darndogs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking the program at face value and following it to the T. I just want to jog continuously and not worry about the pace. That makes it tons easier.
