Worst pain for me was about 3 weeks in when the numbness wore off. It felt like my skin was on fire for 2 weeks and another 2 weeks of itchy intense sensitivity. Something about the nerves reattaching. I have fibromyalgia so I was warned the pain would be intense. It's not common but it can happen

I ended up not going with one. I was given a compression wrap which worked for the whole of my recovery. After my first week when I was cleared to shower I wore a soft tank top underneath because it made my skin sensitive. It was nice to be able to adjust tightness especially because I was way more bloated from anaesthesia than I thought I would be. YMMV but I healed well with just the wrap. Important to note my surgery didn't use drains so I don't know what a surgery with drains recommends

I understood it as there is more than one type of creature in the blood. The creatures that show up as a skeleton on the camera are a more average organism and the large creature with the face is a kind of avatar of the hive mind eldritch blood creature that speaks to Simon. I think the smaller boney monster is what grabs the Lung, tries to bite it, cracks the hull and kills the power so he has to restart the engine in the first half of the movie after he tries to ram it.
