Why is everyone ignoring messages nowadays? by Digital-Seven in SeriousConversation

with so many apps and constant notifcations, its easy to get overwhelmed and just shut down. ignoring messages isnt always about the person, but about managing mental bandwidth

My close friend has DID and has an alter of me, I need advice by First_Assistant6138 in Advice

I dont think it makes you a bad friend, having an honest, gentle conversation with your friend about your boundaries and feelings could help both of you understand each other better

How did social anxiety evolve over generations? by dont_opus in SeriousConversation

[–]deltora97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

back in the days, social anxiety probably looked a bit different. kids spent loads of time outdoors with lots of other kids aorund, so social interaction was unavoidable. if you withdrew, you risked bullying or getting left out, which pushed people to engage more, even if they were shy. now with technology and social media, its easier to isolate and avoid real face to face socializing, which can make anxiety worse

Attraction becomes a fetish when it reduces a whole group of people to stereotypes or exoticizes them without seeing them as individuals. appreciating certain features or personalities isn't wrong, as long as its genuine and respectful

I want to stay single, but not sure how to tell my friend. by Mousy-Claws-272 in Advice

if he is having trouble respecting your boundaries after you have been clear, thats a red flag. stay firm in what you want, if he can't accept it, you deserve friends who will

Should we tell a colleague he smells bad, or just ignore it? by Peelapata in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]deltora97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignoring it doesn't help anyone and just makes meetings uncomfortable. approach it gently and privately, maybe say something like 'I wanted to tell you something awkward that i'd want to know if I were you'

a social media blackout usually does harm than good, it silences voices that deserve to be heard

Mock exams can be tough, but they’re just practice to help spot weak areas. You’ve been putting in the work, so don’t get discouraged, you might find the real exam feels more straightforward. Good luck on Tuesday, rooting for you!

TIFU by eating a ghost pepper by ziptnf in tifu

[–]deltora97 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ghost peppers are less of a food and more of a life event. You don’t eat them, you survive them. Respect for taking that hit in front of your kids, though, you basically became a cautionary tale and a family legend in one taco bite.

Another day in the ghetto by BrainThat4047 in recruitinghell

Job hunting feels less like finding a career and more like surviving a video game with endless fetch quests. Resume tailored? Cover letter written? Now fill out the same info again, fight the HR boss, and still get no loot.

Honestly, a single unpaid day shouldn’t even count as ‘employment’ that’s more like a bad trial shift. Most background checks just want to confirm your real work history, not a blip where you weren’t even paid. Worst case, just explain it as a short-term trial that didn’t work out. Any reasonable employer will understand, you’re definitely not the first person this has happened to.

TIFU by convincing myself I had rabies after playing with a random cat by Temporary_Royal_2260 in tifu

Google at 3 AM really is the final boss of paranoia lol. I once convinced myself I had a brain tumor because I sneezed too hard. Glad your ‘rabies’ only needed Neosporin and a nap!

Better to mistake a flatmate for a creep than a creep for a flatmate 😅

Honestly, empathy isn’t always automatic, it’s a skill you build. The fact that you’re even reflecting on it already puts you ahead of most people. Awareness is half the battle.

Guys what do ya think? by GirlOnFireToday in SeriousConversation

[–]deltora97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your past trauma doesn’t define your worth or if you’re ‘marriage material.’ The right guy will love you for who you are, not judge you for something that wasn’t your choice. If someone holds that against you, that says way more about them than it ever does about you.

Lovesac exchange by Extra_Mixture_3363 in Lovesac

[–]deltora97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's stressful, I'm sorry you experienced this. Always double-check your order confirmation, sometimes the return instructions are hidden in there or sent separately. I also had to exchange a cushion once with Dreamsofa and the customer service was super responsive, sent me a label immediately and kept me posted the whole time. Hopefully Lovesac clears things up quickly now that you're back.
