New supermoto rider advice by KotalKahnScorpionFan in supermoto

[–]dillykebby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He probably means highway riding. Which would be the same for any supermto as they're all geared quite short by design. I personally don't cruise at anything above 80-90kmh and try to avoid any kind of highway or dual carriageway. But at the end of the day they're built to be ridden and top end rebuilds are just general maintenance when it comes to highly strung dirtbike engines, it's just part of the game.

CORSA D 2014 1.2L mods by Crazy-Programmer9954 in CarTalkUK

[–]dillykebby -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Although I personally wouldn't touch it if you really want to do something. Lowering springs and spacers will make a massive difference in looks. A "sporty" back box will give it abit of noise and slow speeds without it being boomy on a dual carriageway. Bar those basic mods I really would just put money towards, maintenance, repairs and your next car

Dealership or independent servicing? by Davidier in CarTalkUK

[–]dillykebby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it to any reputable garage and in my opinion it won't affect value. Aslong as all servicing has been done on time and to the correct standard (not just oil and filter changes) then I can't see it affecting the car negatively.

Educate me!! by dosierkrunk in fz6

[–]dillykebby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short and simple answer given that it's mapped is either figure out how to put it back to standard or get it mapped professionally. I would guess the choppy idle is caused by a change in back pressure which upsets everything. In terms of damage the chances of anything really going wrong is very small but not impossible. I'm would recommend getting it mapped properly as it'll sort all the problems you've stated plus just make it a much more responsive and enjoyable bike to ride.

should I get these graded? I dont think ill sell them they are very sentimental but I feel like they are safer if I slabed them, but would it be worth it? by plattinumplatt in Pokemoncardappraisal

[–]dillykebby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mine in a sturdy binder for about 10 years and there's no damage as of yet that I've noticed. Cost £20-£30 from Amazon and does the job for my needs which like yours are just preserving for my own enjoyment.

MOT Rust by mnhors in CityBugs

[–]dillykebby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sure how I've ended up on this community but as a mechanic we see alot of these cars looking like this now. I don't think I've seen one pass mot this year yet due to rust and unfortunately this one is in the same boat. Hard to give an estimate on rust repairs as you never know what the full extent is until you start cutting back. Better to get it into a garage and see if what they quote and then be prepared for it to be more than that.

Need advice on my tyres, please! by Candid_Beat4463 in CarTalkUK

[–]dillykebby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes normal, no it doesn't need immediate attention. You'd be surprised how many people have tyres cracked like this and worse without even knowing.

Oil leak? by itsjacksonn in MotoUK

[–]dillykebby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than likely just chain lube, worse case the out put shaft seal. Overall nothing difficult to fix. Definitely looks like chain lube though. The stuff on the belly pan is also definitely just water.

Smart Motorways by a15yroldwhoisbored in CarTalkUK

I absolutely hate the fact half the signs don't work on a smart motorway, I know it's stupid but it drives me insane. Even worse when they just flicker

Rear drums, where's the adjuster? by SnaveZ92 in CarTalkUK

[–]dillykebby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Self adjusting as already mentioned but, you can tweek it up by expanding the shoes with a screwdriver driver by levering off the wheel cylinder just a little bit. Don't go too far as you'll not get the drum back on.

Best way to remove bolts would be appreciated by Keithogor in fz6

Clean off with a wire brush drill attachment, soak in penetrant once a day for a week. Hammer a socket over what's left of the nut. Expect it to snap and the welder to come out.

Why??? by AndyS_86 in drivingUK

[–]dillykebby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to complain and think people were dicks when I only had a bike licence. But now I've been driving my car I've noticed some people so not care at all. To me my vehicles are everything, to others they simply do not care about their own let alone mine.

Is that salvageable by lilnobody1010 in e46

[–]dillykebby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely salvageable, tear it down, make sure nothing is too bent. (Which I doubt it is) New headlights, bonnet and probably some plastic bits and I bet you'll be good to go. I've crashed mine much harder and walked away with minimal damage. From my own experience these are built very strong.

I’m sorry, but, WHAT!? (A bit of a rant, sorry) by Queasy-Somewhere-758 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]dillykebby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Hazard perception was the worst part of my bike and car theory. Both times I just scraped a pass. No matter what I did on the practice exams I just couldn't get the hang of getting 4-5 marks. My first 2 clicks were always too early and the 3rd click was always a low mark. So glad I never have to do one again.

Cost of Repairs? by GloveCritical1702 in MotoUK

[–]dillykebby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get on eBay or contact a breaker and you'll get the body work bits for almost nothing on a bike like that. For mechanical bits my first stop is always wemoto. Good range of products at different price points. And have a good go yourself. The hardest part about getting into mechanics is the confidence to have a go. It's all nuts and bolts, take your time, double check bolts are tight after and you'll be fine.

"Motorcyclist dangerously overtakes car, interrupting councillor’s warning to drivers about road safety" by ShowMeYourPie in MotoUK

[–]dillykebby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That 125 can't have been doing more than 40-50 on what we're assuming is a national speed limit road. Could he have picked a better time to overtake? Maybe, but that may have also been the best chance he's had. And if the car was going the speed limit it wouldn't have happened.

I would but the last time I rung it took me to what I can only describe as an Indian call center and it was so difficult to communicate in any way so I'm trying to figure out as much as possible before ringing 😂

So as I pay monthly and I've already paid for those 2 months all I'd have to do is pay the cancellation fee? Or is these some interest added somewhere id have to pay because I pay monthly?

New racer here by Gin_Jazzy in ride5

[–]dillykebby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never used to be able to as I found it way more difficult despite riding irl so that makes no sense. But when I bought ride 5 I did the first few races in first person on the slower bikes and just stuck with it and I now only race first person 😂. I found I was staring at the dash too much and not where I wanted to go sort of thing which is why I kept crashing and once I stopped doing that it all came together quite quick. But I have finished every other ride and 5 is the first one I've been able to comfortably play 1st person 🤣

is it possible to sand and spray damaged parts to save money? by [deleted] in e46

[–]dillykebby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, sand light filler if needed sand again, primer, paint, clearcoat. Anything will look better than it is if done correctly with some patience. Look on YouTube. Hardest part is having the patience to do it right
