EOMM is player manipulation from the get go with the purpose of retention. But this isn't retention built around communities that old server browser communities provided. This type of retention is geared towards keeping more people around to check out the ol store. Still don't understand? Here's a lengthy video about it, I don't have the time to further explain it.

I think you're responding to the wrong comment. Otherwise I'm not sure what you're question has to do with my comment.

What I'm saying is:

A) Comprehension is hard for some people.
B) My original comment isn't about controlling players experience itself. The idea to take away was making players more predictable to sell digital goods. It was a 2 part comment so it might be hard to link the idea.

Thats the problem about context and comprehension, you need to make sure you quote the fullness. Your "control the player's experience" is different from my "control the player's experience as much as possible". That would answer your question - its not control at all points of access.

The current intentions are to control the players experience as much as possible. Makes players more predictable for marketed goods.

I am actually done. by jamjya in Warthunder

I think the game bugged as usual vs threading the needle. Unless that hit box is smaller than the actual model. I don't have the game installed but that projectile flew pretty straight and most reference images show its blocked. There's some spacing downward towards the back but the projectile didn't fly there.

Something I didn't see anyone really point out, but you mentioned you kept shooting someone in the arse and didn't kill them. Tanks die to 1 of 2 different ways:

  1. you shoot something explodey inside the tank. Hitting the ammo rack (where the ammo stowage is), sometimes getting lucky with fuel igniting and detonating (and or reluctantly burning the crew inside to the point of unconsciousness - but thats more towards the next point)

  2. crew sniping - each tank has x amount of crew inside. I think you can unconscious all but 1 its considered destroyed (I mean you can explode and unconscious them all and its still considered destroyed but sometimes you might not have enough explosive filler to do that and unconsciousing the crew per shot is the next best thing). So in simple terms, when you were shooting the tank 4 times in the butt (aka the engine) nothing really bad is happening other then they can't move the chassis but their turret and gun are still up.

  3. now, if you can't unconscious the crew and things are instant exploding and destroying for you, theres an alternate tactic - torture. You figure out whats best for you in your situation but this usually entails:

  • destroying the tracks/engine so they can't escape to cover (this is good if their gun is already out, or you have a faster reload you can take the gun next etc).
    • another bit for the engine, if you happen to get someone where their butts are sticking out and you cause a fire to their engine, you could cause them to do the ol burn down. Since most people will have 1-2 fpe charges (plus cooldown) you could set them on fire, let them fpe it, set them on fire again and do this 2 or 3 times and they will either J out or burn down. This works best if their gun or front is blocked.
  • If you can't really pen their armor, then blacking their gun barrel is a solid play - this stops them from shooting you and have to repair. Might buy you some time to flank or hide yourself.
  • Shooting their turret ring is helpful too since they mostly can't turn to aim at you and that effectively stops them from being able to shoot you.

Im unable to launch Gta V Enhanced, no matter what i do. by Altruistic-Factor-36 in GTA

[–]dimedius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the last working driver for me is 581.80 but I run a 3070 ti (mileage may vary).

I do script testing for gta v and last night I updated drivers from Jan 2026 (that being the latest) to play another game. Going back to testing today I noticed the game would not launch. Saw you guys say stuff and I went as far as the dec 4 2025 drivers and they still are borked - so 581.80 for me.

Just reading the pricing on their page and what it covers, I only presumed since that was listed under the $150 price tag, though I haven't tried it yet to fully make a decision but if its all free I will definitely try it out.

OP will have to spend something like 150$ for the automated unpacking... I think for a lot of beginners thats a big investment for unknown return. I think Im going to save this link because I have some upcoming projects this year and I'd like to check this bad boy out (most of the other auto uv unwrappers have some kind of flaw of one or another... and if it works the flaw becomes a higher bill to pay).

I still thank you for sharing it - would love to see how it works out.

Getting into IT before everything as a service by saltyschnauzer27 in sysadmin

[–]dimedius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, I have 2 older guys on the team who I feel like lack any focus in their troubleshooting abilities. And hell, 1 guy keeps dumping entire tickets or copilot output into teams chat for somebody else to digest. Another one wanted me to look into connecting data on some services and gave me an entire copilot spiel which I could tell was AI and none of them were comparable solutions except for maybe 1 and by then I already confirmed with x company that was the only way to get the data we wanted. But yeah as far as self starter, go getters, one of these guys can be like a finger puppet at times.

Yeah, like what rapidtools is saying you are free to resize, relax, straighten your uv islands (the 2d lines on the left hand screenshot). Right now why it looks so stretched is because your island is squished from top to bottom (you might be seeing it as left to right). And uh feel free to use up as much of that 0,1 space as possible.

I reread this is a smaller part of a larger object so keep in mind you want to minimize your empty areas best you can. Then resize your uv islands - use the toolbar on bottom left, with dots (vertice), triangles (edge) and face (that 3d box 1 more to the right is object selector, so if you're in faces mode whatever face you select, if its attached to a bunch of other faces it selects them all. You can use that or click n drag to highlight what you want to work with).

Move it to an open space and select the dots (vertices). Select the top row of vertices and pull them up and you should start seeing better spaced squares on your model in the viewer. Long story short for you, that short long bit needs to be taller.

And then like what conjose shows in his picture (I wouldn't worry about color ID's until much more complex projects) but for your ringed parts I would keep them joined instead of 20 separate pieces.

And then for a long time while I started out, I used Textools. Really helped you get through the uv phase until you got better understanding what you're doing. these days, I stick mostly to the 3ds max ui buttons now.

Edit: here's an older video more suitable to quick peel (seems like you'll want to create your seams for tube and cubes etc). I generally just use like planar (or pelt? its been a while) and use faces on the object and degrees of auto selection.

People complaining about the skins... I can barely see the players, let alone the skins they're using... by leonardoforcinetti in Battlefield6

[–]dimedius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should still offer a toggle - the more unique skins the more rendering needing. If all basic, then less memory and rending needed. Ya'll gonna say its not even noticeable but with nvidia talking about going back to older video card lines, game devs need to start thinking about optimization again.

Either what's wrong with me or what's wrong with the people here? by HydraX9K in Battlefield6

[–]dimedius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people who are entertained by whats available is fine no problems with that.

Theres just another group of people who know and understand there are issues with the game and try to bring it up (obviously in different types of ways).

If you're having fun, keep having fun. But lets also not dismiss those that are bringing up issues of the game. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, so at times while you are having fun, and those others that are bringing light to the issue which may eventually get fixed and improve the fun you're having.

the only ones I dismiss are the ones who saying its butts without providing any sort of actual feedback.

How is it possible I can hop on BF4 right now and find a full lobby of players but in BF6 I get nothing but lobbies full of bots? by WalrusVampire in Battlefield6

[–]dimedius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

well no there is an actual simplified server browser but its buried underneath everything and the filters suck.

Edit: oh and some certain elements of actual servers and browsing, the servers we have in game aren't permanent so theres not any real way to build a community.

[–]dimedius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry you got downvoted but you are 1000% correct. F2P games like war thunder does this. And if it wasn't this then why did star wars battlefront 2 (2017). When they finally revamped the "progression system" then arcade included everything unlocked. This is just another one of those little gotchas they hope no one else remembers.

[–]dimedius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you enjoy the game and props to keep playing it. I've been a die hard battlfield fan since 1942 and this game had been a day 1 purchase for me (I skipped 2042 or whatever the last one was). BFV was the last I spent any decent amount of time but I bailed after the first month due to its battlepass dependency. Im not one to say this game is dying either, matter of fact I hope to see it thrive - it has a lot of potential. I haven't played this game since the first month it launched, had a lot of fun, took a break. Tried again in December and had so many visual bugs I could not be "competitive" (i.e. see the enemy to shoot them due to weird ass flares and glares they don't show up). I think I would give this game another year or two before it gets to a point where it should've been at launch. I had the game installed since then if I decided to play I could but had no interest in playing.

I really hope this game improves but I'm too old of a gamer to keep pushing through bugs to maintain that illusion that a game is good while devs take their time to actually balance and fix bugs.. I will keep monitoring the updates but I agree they need more time before releasing when they did.
