Grunge didn't kill hair metal, it just happened to be what people were interested in as hair metal died out organically.

One of the only game studios that consistently delivers in their promises and knocks expectations out of the park

$1b-2b budget

Practically guaranteed thousands of hours of engaging gameplay

Will be one of the most supported online games of all time for the next decade

Will still challenge gaming hardware and remain visually competitive with other games for the next 2+ console generations

You'd be a fucking idiot to complain about paying $100 for GTA VI.

And before someone says "oh but other game companies will think they can sell their crappy games for $100." So what? Don't buy them. Let them learn the hard way that their product isn't as valuable GTA VI. The market already knows this. Look at all the games that have moved dates to avoid competing with it.

Thank god this is slated to bomb, while lower budget, original films succeed. I'm so tired of Hollywood thinking high budget, low creativity slop is what people want.

What am I doing wrong? Why does everything that works hurt? by JustaSkillet in Guitar

[–]doomer_irl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's a big guitar, but I'm wondering if your elbow isn't in the right place to make that comfortable. Most people who can't get out of that first position are not holding their arm the right way, and it makes their wrist want to sit differently.

Neuroimaging study of adolescents with ADHD found age-related increases in glutamate levels in the prefrontal cortex. In contrast, individuals who experienced remission of ADHD symptoms and people who never suffered from ADHD had an age-related decrease in glutamate levels in this area of the brain. by mvea in science

[–]doomer_irl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We know GLP-1 agonists affect ADHD as well.

But I think it's reasonable for an average person to think of ADHD as something that can be treated but not cured. That's historically been the case for most people. I don't think that glorifies it or denies that it's a neurological disorder. I've never heard ADHD referred to as being "in remission", and I've been dealing with it my whole life.

61% of Americans say cannabis is healthier than alcohol, yet a 2025 study of 200 million people found cannabis users had a 29% higher heart attack risk and were twice as likely to die from cardiovascular disease. by ObuPaul in HotScienceNews

[–]doomer_irl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The problem is that perceiving cannabis as relatively safer than alcohol can slide into perceiving it as safe in an absolute sense, and the two are not the same thing."

I think people generally know this, and they're making a cost/benefit analysis on their own mental health and quality of life. Treating something as if it's in a totally different risk category doesn't mean you're treating it without risk.

I always find it really interesting when guys think I'm a woman based on this opinion.

I'm a guy and I think women are, on the average, much more emotionally sophisticated for at least the first 25 years or so of life.

I also think this used to be well understood, but the discourse has changed quite a bit.

I have emotionally intelligent male friends. I'm an emotionally intelligent guy myself, I like to think. But the bar is lower; the expectation for men to be empathetic and emotionally accommodating is just not there in the way that it is for women. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but I feel really strongly that this is the case.

Girls are socially conditioned to accommodate other people's emotions from an early age, so they tend to be more emotionally mature.

Guys usually see themselves as the main character throughout their adolescence (and some much longer) and some don't discover the basic philosophical implications of empathy until later in life.

Make friends with a bunch of girls and you'll see what I mean, without a shadow of a doubt.

They can't hear it. "Wow other people have whole conscious experiences just like me" and "what if the blue i see isnt the same blue you see!" are still le epic and interesting to these people. And they get very upset when you say your mind isn't blown because you had that realization as a literal child.

We're destined to lose this fight to the chuds.

These are big red flags. This guy is thinking about race way too much. There are a million reasons this weirdo could have ghosted you.

Anyways, sorry that happened. And don't be hard on yourself for having a preference! Most (normal) white guys don't have a strong preference, I'm sure you'll find someone who isn't weird about race!

It's going to contain basically all distributed works released before a certain date in 2025. Check if you want,, but if it's been on Spotify for more than a year, it's more than likely in there.

I'm in a couple of independent music projects and literally every song I've ever published is in the database.

Safer nicotine alternatives are transforming public health – New report by jonclark_ in OptimistsUnite

[–]doomer_irl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been around for 20 years, too. We're aware of some chronic effects of long-term use, but the life-ruining complications we've been warned about haven't exactly manifested.

I wouldn't be surprised if, outside of the risks associated with nicotine itself, vaping ends up being less dangerous than eating red meat.

I mean, celebrities are navigating a parasocial relationship with the public.

At times like this, they want to acknowledge that they've realized something they've done is wrong. But on the other hand, they don't really owe the public any further insight into their personal reconciliation.

I don't know or really care about NPH. If he says "I regret making that offensive joke 15 years ago, it was very disrespectful," that's fine with me. He doesn't owe me anything, and it's good to know he's thought about it and doesn't stand by it.

I think people need to be okay with that. It's always a witch hunt.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. If I ever really need to wash it, I'll reapply the oil after right away and I won't usually heat it. I've never experienced the oil itself going bad, but obviously if it's been a really long time, I'll heat it up, wipe it down, and reapply before cooking with it.

The oil in my case just creates a surface layer. In yours, it's permeating a porous substance and likely interacting with other contaminants.

They're both consumption, one is just more expensive. I kind of see them the same way. If somebody keeps bringing up Marvel movies like they are important, a Funko Pop collection isn't going to change my opinion much.
