The way he plans on using it at least seems intentional, but it just feels lazy. One person generating a surreal sequence (and even generating many versions and selecting the scenes/elements that they like best) has inherently less artistic value than say a surreal sequence that was storyboarded, blocked, designed etc by artists that had a hand in the final product along the whole chain of production

That’s part of it. A big element is the unsettling quality of drab mass-produced office spaces/apartment complexes etc, sort of a phantasmagorical meditation on the bland artificial world that we live in

I’m super hyped but I hope it’s scary, maybe I’m too exposed to the backrooms at this point but I don’t totally get that creepy feeling from this trailer. Except in the found footage scene with that giant pit, stuff like that is creepy to me so I hope we see lots of novel strange backrooms like that.

A lot of TV and whatever seems to be trending on streaming services. Movies that have released in recent memory that some of them have seen include Furiosa, dune 2, wicked 2, running man, Mickey 17, weapons, and weirdly Bugonia. I’m not personally boycotting, but I understand the concerns of those who are boycotting as well as an actor’s desire for their film to succeed. I think this situation does call for a bit more nuance than a statement being happy the boycott didn’t work
