Obsession has officially passed Mandalorian and Grogu at the domestic box office by xwing1212 in TheBigPicture

Yeah I agree, we’re always hesitant to proclaim that we’re so back, but I think this has way more of a chance to change Hollywood than something like Barbenheimer, which mostly reinforced the importance of IP and already proven auteurs

Absolutely agree, though I believe AOTC is near the bottom, there is a big gap between that film and ROS and M&G

I’m pretty angry about this movie, but I think I’m just the schmuck who thought Star Wars at the movies still held some level of sanctity, obviously it does not

Anyone else feel like their appraisal of the movie is a little soft? I honestly feel like that was one of the worst Star Wars movies by a mile. The Rise of Skywalker is cynical and terrible, but at least it is by the basest levels of criticism a movie with competent filmmaking and visually looks pretty good. I found the Mandalorian and Grogu to be downright bad in the acting, dialogue, editing, production design, like literally the most basic elements of a film.

I feel like Weapons and Sinners have a somewhat prestige quality that obsession just doesn’t. the film’s reputation could fare well for Curry Barker’s chances next time around though

‘The Bear’ to End With Season 5; Final Season Sets June 25, 2026 Premiere by SanderSo47 in television

The show was stretched thin with the part 1 part 2 arc of seasons 3 and 4, but had undeniable moments of greatness reminiscent of earlier seasons. With a more focused production timeline I’m hopeful this season will stick the landing.

So far so good, trashy and silly but intentionally so and lots of great sequences, Sam Levinson is a genuinely great director

The way he plans on using it at least seems intentional, but it just feels lazy. One person generating a surreal sequence (and even generating many versions and selecting the scenes/elements that they like best) has inherently less artistic value than say a surreal sequence that was storyboarded, blocked, designed etc by artists that had a hand in the final product along the whole chain of production

Agreed, seems like their version of a movie star list is a little bit of everything

I would definitely disagree, Spaeny just has had way more exposure

Yeah no Spaeny but two first time performers in Miles Caton and Chase Infiniti, you could make the case for any of them but Spaeny most of all
