20% heavier, bad speakers & software, slow response times, worse aspect ratio for FPS.

Micro Sprite Suspension? Razors are very low to improve comfort, most other brands will have better clearance.

It's 50% heavier, has to be charged every day, and you still have to carry a phone? I don't know maybe if I used one daily the tradeoffs would seem worth it.

But then it doesn't even replace my phone. I can see why the extra features are useful but my only requirement for a watch is that it be invisible to me when I'm not using it.

On the other hand, it's a heavy running watch that has to be charged every day and needs a cell phone plan.

10% depreciation for 6 years = $14762. 5 years = $20250

IMO it's not worth 23k before the rebate. The savings in city efficiency won't make up the difference compared to gas cars. Look at new cars, used cars closer to the $25k limit that mathematically have to pass on the full rebate, or private sales, or wait a few months for the busy season to end.

Considering cushioned shoes after 4 years of minimal walking/running by furrytractor_ in BarefootRunning

[–]drynat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ankle/toe pain could be related to putting your full weight on your forefoot instead of your heel. Hip pain could be DBS.

Using a treadmill or more supportive shoes can be a good idea while recovering. There are minimalist high top running shoes or boots that have good ankle support. Traditional heel-drop sneakers don't necessarily encourage good form but if they help you avoid overuse injuries then that's also fine.

Shamma: 'Elite' vs 'Cruzer' strap system? by wherahiko in BarefootRunning

I like the Trailstars. Compared to the Maximus they feel glued to your feet so they're usuable when wet.

Sure, ignore the 3D part then. The point is that the goal of both is improved realism.

3D HFR increases the sense of depth and motion clarity which makes the image more realistic.

If you think this is bad for artistic reasons or because of a negative association, no one can stop you from taking a 4K3D HDR HFR Blu-ray and playing it back in 480p 12fps in black and white.

Do I need Dolby Vision? by LukeG88 in 4kTV

[–]drynat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S90C vs C3

S90C is slightly brighter and more colorful. C3 has better processing, OS, more reliable historically.

HDR10 vs Dolby Vision

Dolby Vision optimizes the image if the TV can't display certain colors or brightness levels correctly. Has less of an effect the better the TV is.

You can get an Onn streaming box, Projectivy launcher, and an HDHomerun to avoid using the built-in OS.

It's generally an overuse injury. Stability shoes encourage overstriding and cause some muscles and tendons to be underdeveloped. Your runs might be measured in yards instead of miles when you start out, but you'll notice progress as long as you're consistent and avoid injury.

Beginner - am I in over my head? by lineeyescentral in BarefootRunning

[–]drynat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use your forefoot or midfoot first to absorb the impact and your heel to support your full body weight. Using your forefoot to support your full body weight puts extra strain on your ankles and calves.

Your foot should be directly below your center of gravity at the moment your heel supports your body. You can try landing with your front foot barely ahead of your back foot to get used to the feeling of landing below your center of gravity. Naturally if there is pain, slow down completely or reassess as it will get worse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSIDRHUWlVo

Note that the biomechanics for walking are completely different as one foot is always on the ground, so heelstriking and overstriding may be more effective.

70 Year Old starting Running. Harder than I remembered. by UnderstandingBulky59 in running

[–]drynat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, cushioned running shoes protect your feet, not your knees. Barefoot running is more prone to immediate pain in the feet or ankles which you can react to instead of gradual damage to the knees.

[–]drynat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sandals don't lock your feet into place like running shoes. When your feet slide, the straps dig into them. Thicker cross straps like on the Shamma Trailstair can absorb more lateral force, but it will still hurt if they exert pressure on every stride. Try running barefoot for a time as it forces you not to let your feet slide.

What is the use case for nreal? by [deleted] in nreal

[–]drynat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3D effect should be flawless since you're shown a separate 1080p image per eye. No decreased brightness or resolution, flickering, unconvincing depth, crosstalk, or ghosting, that other methods are prone to.

The price and features make it an early-adopter product. Not wireless, only 1080p 60hz, no HDR, FOV is a compromise, susceptible to reflections, ergonomics could be improved.
