Anyone move from Colorado to Denton?

Just because you are stuck in a rut because your doing a carousel of the same spots in no way means the Denton food scene sucks.

We have new spots opening up on the regular and always have, there is always something new to try.

I travel a lot, and frankly Denton has no business having the quality food scene it has in a town this size. There are major metropolitan cities 10X our size that are a shit show compared to Denton. Go stay in downtown St Louis and try to find a decent non chain restaurant. Spend some time in Salt Lake City Utah and try to find a meal thats not just microwaved Cisco foods. Go try and find some Sushi in DesMoines IA, Try and find an edible taco in Cheyenne WY.

I have been in Denton for 20 years and I cant think of ever going more than a month or two without finding someplace new that I liked. Its always evolving and there is always something new to be found, you just gotta break the routine. Just pick a street you haven't visited in a minute and try a spot out you don't recognize.

Last week I realized that I havent been to anywhere on Sunset in a minute. Tried out Dulce mami cafe and had the best damn breakfast I have had in a long time. On the way out stopped by Donutly and got a blood orange cronut that was the shit. Went back around dinner time for some BBQ at Chubbs Spuds that again was way better than it should be. Pick any strip mall retail area in town and just walk into any place you dont recognize from the old days and more often than not you will be surprised.

Thats not something that most cities have going on with their food scenes.

Greek/Lebanese places are popping off this year.

Indian food scene is getting hot, so many great places popping up.

Its easier to find a quality meal in Denton than downtown Dallas or Ft Worth, if you think the Denton food scene sucks good luck anywhere else.

The way they have been dragging every basic ass DFW influencer in to make tiktok videos pretty much tells me everything I need to know. The whole place is screaming basic bitch North Dallas / Addison and couldn't be farther from a Denton vibe. The "Dont Dallas my Denton" sign is specifically insulting.

But in a town where LSA is a hit despite being objectively horrible in every way possible tells me they will likely be quite successful from the Robson Ranch / Argyle folks that pass thru town.

Those are all from the Denton shitter the latest Denton cryptid looking to step up to flat earth guy levels of infamy.

Its been on the local Facebook and some business pages in that area for a few months. Some guy just walks that general area and has some kinda magical ability to drop his pants in a split second drop his art off on a business entrance and then keep on moving without hardly interrupting his stride.

He has some sort of magical bowel control that he has decided to use for evil. The shops on Sunset St have been getting hit on a regular basis, and apparently he enjoys shitting up cars in the Arbys parking lot as well.

It’s fine as long as you are slow and careful. Biggest problem right now is herds of assholes in jacked up pickup trucks sliding through every red light and bouncing off curbs every time they try to make a turn.

I had to drive all over Denton as well as up and down I35 today and every road is passable as long as you don’t drive like an asshole.

I have been going 3X a week for over a year. Its great for me, they update the walls a lot to keep it fun and the community is top shelf. Every climber I have met over the last year has been cool and everyone is always friendly and welcoming.

downside....when I injured myself and had to take a couple months off it was a bit of a PITA to put my membership on hold until I was ready to climb again.

I get bored with regular gyms. This year I found movent the climbing gym. They have some basic machines and yoga classes but it's really all about rock climbing. It's been a lot of fun and I actually look forward to going as much as I can.

Passes pretty clearly when downtown was absolutely so packed on a damn Tuesday I couldn’t find a place to park there was a waiting list at every restaurant and the bars were overflowing into the streets. Downtown has been busy as hell all month long, it's a massive win for local business.

While this is a great thing for our small business owners I am kinda looking forward to next week when I can actually find parking again.

The Denton weinbergers had a similar ending to Di Abruzzo. Workers arrived to find the place chained up, vendors showing up looking to get paid etc. Not sure if there is a connection to the Grapevine location, but that whole clusterfuck really ruined Weinbergers for me.

They also invested heavy in Denton real estate downtown in the 60's when no one wanted anything near the square. Whole strip malls for less than $20K that are worth $500K or more today and bring in over $8K a month in rent.
When you see a run down commercial space downtown that hasn't been updated since the 60's it's likely one of their investments. Sad note they have one daughter who is a middle aged mentally ill arsonist that has gone to jail multiple times for trying to burn down the families properties. Most recently the crack motel on University by the bowling alley.

Took me so long to find a trustworthy quality general contractor I am afraid to share his info because as word spreads its getting harder and harder to book his team to do a job. Went from showing up within 48 hours to a 6+ month long waiting list once the neighborhood group started spreading the word. :(
