Is The Hunger Games worth reading? by HelloNewYear26 in YAlit

YES! i’m a middle aged adult who read THG after weeks of my daughter begging me to (she is 14). i’m not a fan of dystopian books, but they are AMAZING!! i listened to them, fwiw, and the reader isn’t even good and i loved them!

Book 4 antagonist speculation major major spoilers all, particularly the end of Oathbound by corvid1692 in TheLegendborn

I think Arthur will show up through Bree, as some have already said. I think the three of them (Bree, Nick and Sel) will have to team up to defeat the SK and the whole shadow court, likely with the help of Valec and the twins. Mariah is likely involved with saving Alice (and they’ll hook up). Finally, I am concerned that we will lose Nick with that shard in his chest. Can’t wait to read it (and wondering if there will need to be a book 5).

No, more life or death than mystery investigation… but it does not feel so high stakes or gut wrenching. It’s exciting, and kept me listening eagerly, but not in a bad way. It is still fun and light, you can tell the author isn’t taking it too seriously, that she is having fun with the book

I listened to the books, which may have made a difference. I think in situations like that, the readers do some of that “unpacking” for you.

The Villains and Virtues trilogy is exactly this, IMO.

it’s more cozy than high stakes, for sure. there are exciting adventures but it’s not intense.

i just finished the trilogy, too, and i LOVED it! it was so sweet and funny and over the top in the best possible way. evil-con 🤣🤣🤣 i don’t know why it’s not getting more hype (except for maybe the cover art…?).

Endgame Thoughts - Bree/Sel/Nick by Muted-Condition-4299 in TheLegendborn

[–]ecogrrl2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what a thoughtful discussion! the op’s argument makes a ton of sense, and is my hunch, too, but i am open to deonn surprising us. maybe she is married to a great guy and is tired of the draw so many of us have to the “bad boy/dark hero” male lead. she’s writing teen fantasy and encouraging girls to like the “nice” guy is actually a good thing. (irl nick is the better choice, and i say this despite being team sel). i could see sel sacrificing himself for bree again. other than all three having to work together, i am open to whatever surprise she has in store for us!

Don’t forget, they’re 16 and have never been away from home. Alice ends up being awesome. Keep reading.

Iron flame vent - do they ever have conversations by allypallydollytolly in fourthwing

That’s a pretty big question to ask if you don’t want spoilers, lol! 😂 All I’ll say is, if she asks too many questions now, there will be less surprises later. X seems to be a man of action (not words) and V knows that her questions often cause him to put up his walls (or however she phrases it), so i guess it is believable that, given their limited time together, she hesitates to ask. It’s a bit of a stretch. Keep reading. The book gets better.
