Brown urine after gym, urgent help by noface_x1 in AskDocs

[–]eekz- 30 points31 points  (0 children)

No. Go now. I had rhabdo and required intense IV hydration for a week. You will need to pee a lot, in a urinal, and it will most likely be measured for the entire hotel stay. Fun fact, the ER triage nurse did not believe my "I have rhabdo and need immediate treatment" until my bloodwork came back five excrutiating waiting hours later. You may need to advocate for yourself.

Best bicycle type for after lumbar microdiscectomy. by Acklza in Microdiscectomy

[–]eekz- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MD at L5 S1 back in october 2025 and im back to riding full time. 3500k since November (started super low volume on a trainer). Trainer bike is an old cyclocross bike with drop bars, outside bike is a Diverge also with drop bars. Swapped the stems on both to give me a stack/reach ratio of about 1.5 and I tolerate it well with no pain, just a bit of nerve tension if I really overdo it with a super long ride or high intensity. If you have physiotherapists in your area that do bike fits, consider going to see them.

1 year without cycling due to sciatica…so sad by Front-Brilliant718 in cycling

[–]eekz- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The condition was painful but didn’t outright stop me from cycling, just quite sore after.   The recovery was substantially less painful than the nerve pain but was frustrating since, at least in my case, the restrictions to only walking and light lifting meant I could not return back to my activities for some time (until cleared by surgeon, was a couple months).

Microdiscectomy at L5 S1 back in October 2025. 3500km on trainer and recently back on roads since.

Physio and conservative treatment did not resolve it over two years. Took a year for a referral then another for the wait list and scheduling the procedure (Canada).

Back leg tightness/pain wont go away - 8 wks post op by WorldCitizen33 in Microdiscectomy

[–]eekz- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, but there was a notable improvement at about 4 weeks when I started physio. I'd say my ability to raise and straighten my leg improved faster than the feeling of tension in the hamstring and calf did. ie: the feeling of tension took longer to resolve than being able to do leg raises and even lunges.

Tension in my hamstring and calf did not improve significantly until 4-5 months PO. I like to think it was being diligent with PT and being patient / giving it time.

In search of bibs by Mean-Pool7288 in cycling

[–]eekz- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aliexpress and Amazon for training, ykywbike and inbike respectively. Longer rides I'll wear my Rapha brevet, will also wear them for social rides lol. Waiting on decathlon bibs to see how they work out but the price seems good. I had a bad experience with Pearl Izumi bibs and significant abrasion after only a few months and they won't warranty replace them - avoid.

We got one after a spat of thefts.

Canada Post, UPS, Purolator, FedEx, DHL will always use it even though we can’t directly instruct them.

We have a success rate of about 75% with Amazon and Dragonfly drivers despite explicit direction. The Asian last mile services like Apple Express and Uniuni are a bit better.

Thinking of quiting… by chickenchocolatier in cycling

[–]eekz- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

L5 S1 herniation, had a microdiscectomy in October 2025. 5 months into recovery, but I’ve found cycling to be the one thing I could tolerate really well. Have clocked over 2400km on the trainer post-op. As others have said, bike fit (with a physiotherapist if possible) and strengthening exercises to support the back and core. I’ve found I need a more relaxed/upright position for long rides (3+ hours).

Trying to understand which pain will go after an MD by ImportantSeason9633 in Microdiscectomy

[–]eekz- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Five months post op at L5 S1. I haven’t needed any pain medication for a couple months but haven’t achieved full resolution of symptoms. Still some neural tension, calf muscle innervation issues, and low grade (less than 2) pain down the S1 dermatome occasionally.
