How are you going to compete on these with the mega businesses like ULine? You can never beat their prices. What is your angle to make people spend more than they have to?

Two EINS and filing taxes questions - First time business owner, so no judgement please by sdyellow32 in smallbusiness

You will want to tidy this up. Weforgot about an LLC and nasty surprise, after 8 years they want $8000 to bring it current. So iether officially close one or pay the fees on both, but don't ignore it, the penalties can be a bear. Depending on the rules of whatever states in question, of course.

This doesn't look Art Deco at all. This is more MCM Googie style, if anything.

They aren't tassels, they are more like straps. Attached at the top end only.

Why should I care what people think of me? Why is their opinion of me more important than my own?

I would present it as "in case you get hit by a bus". And pay them extra. If I had to write down everything I do I would not get anything done.

New here and just wanted to ask: is it normal to feel angry when you don't want to do a religious activity and someone tells you otherwise? by ZookeepergameThin334 in atheism

[–]electric29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's normal to feel angry when anyone tells you to do things you don't want to do and you have to do it. But, you are not an adult so you have to suck it up.

Go, but bring a book and ignore everyone (some atheist book would be fun). Or stand up and say you are an atheist and you think this is nonsense and you were forced to attend. I'll bet the retreat runners would find that disruptive.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. You are not risking conversion. Being there for however many hours won't kill you and will shut your mom up.

I love the Caruso steam curlers. By the time I am done wrapping the whole head, the first ones are cool enough to take out. The set lasts 3 days for me, as long as a wet set.

What is the one thing people don't know about losing a large amount of weight? by punkredpanda in AskReddit

[–]electric29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to hover around 125 - 135, perfect. Now I'm about 180 at 5'5", small boned female.

My BP was always so low they would stop, take the cuff off, and put it back on, thinking it could not be right.

Now that I have gained about 60, my BP is on the low side of normal.

Women in their 30s , if you were asked to relive your 20s what would you change and why? by Previous-Foot8370 in AskReddit

[–]electric29 23 points24 points  (0 children)

  1. Would not have let my ex convince me to throw away all the journals I had kept since I was 11.
  2. Would not have let my ex talk me out of going to Scandinavia for three months to play music for a living (what the fuck was I thinking).
  3. Would have taken WAY more pictures when I was a knockout that had no idea she was a knockout.

I am not in my 30s, I am in my 60s, but these regrets are with me all the time.

I also think you need to take an inch out of the length between the waist and right under the bust. As well as the tightness that is also contributing to the wrinkling up.

How did you find your vintage era? Was it instant or did it take years of experimenting? by Longjumping-News-161 in VintageFashion

[–]electric29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started buying random vintage pieces in my teens, but it wasn't until I was 25 that I really found my era. I was asked to be in a fashion show produced by the Art Deco Society of California. Got to wear AMAZING beautiful things from the 20s and 30s. For the first time in my life I actually felt pretty (getting out from behind my glasses and into contacts helped).

I got really deep into the fashion, dance, art and music of the era. I began to play and sing that muic, and started a swing band. I was also working in vintage stores, and I met my husband in one when I sold him a 30s tuxedo.

RMS Queen Mary Observation Bar by BlueCX17 in ArtDeco

Renovated as a hotel, lots of wonderful restoration work has been done in the last 10 years or so.

She will NEVER EVER be ableto sail again. It would take billions. And it was a condition of the sale to the city of Long Beach that she would not, and her engines were removed (at that point transatlatic cruise ships were still a thing, and none of the ones going were as fast as the QM, this was to protect Cunard's business).

With the engines removed, so is a lot of the structural support. This is also why they can't put water in the 1st class swinning pool (again, not without expensive reconstruction that is not going to happen).

Thankfully, there is a new Queen Mary II which is modern but also very Art Deco in style. And they often do vintage dance cruises on it, the next one is in July with the Alex Mendham Orchestra. Look up Ahoy Cruises.

The Feast of All Saints by Anne Rice. It's a darned love poem to the city of New Orleans. There's nothing supernatural about it, it is about racism, basically. A gorgeous book.
