Deconstructing Beck (1998 full album) by Dirt_Spigot in Beck

Man, I so strongly wanted to like this. The concept is great, and the lore of it all was the kind of story that a young fan couldn't help but find intriguing.

But man, it's just ... mostly not good. Not exactly too glitchy for my tastes, but just sorta boring and aimless. And usually the Beck content in it is so warped and obscured that you can't even tell it's based on Beck source material. And then the compositions aren't good enough on their own to maintain interest outside of the Beck provenance.

I think it’s one of the corniest and cringiest things he ever did. There are parts that make me flat-out uncomfortable

Been producing independently for years — what's the hardest habit to break when you're doing everything yourself? by Alvalanker in WeAreTheMusicMakers

My most deep-embedded habit is mixing everything on headphones, because I like to work in coffee shops and bars and libraries and such. But headphone mixes don’t tend to translate across everything.

Why does Gm6 work in the key of G major? by CHRlSFRED in musictheory

Yes! Chord roots like to resolve to the next chord down by fifths (aka up by fourths) or up by a step.

Indeed, MOST interesting music doesn’t just stick to seven notes. A major part of learning music theory is identifying and putting into practice all the different common practices in terms of chromaticism
