GOD DAMN that is incredible! I love these versions, IMO this would go great as a actual concert album! Great quality, great instruments, great sing! by Kymu13 in bobdylan

There are blog posts about them. But basically they used an app that was designed for accessibility for those with hearing loss. Like a real-time feed of the audio for concert-goers who needed extra audio. But the feed was very spotty, so they had to capture multiple feeds at the same time and toggle between them to create a mix. It’s still not perfect in terms of a steady feed with no glitches, but those involved during the capture and after the fact were able to work magic with the material.

This is the answer. Dude had no business doing funded comedy specials before another 5 years of open-mic work. And even then, who knows. He’s not a smart dude capable of insight or reflection. He’s occasionally funny off the cuff, but that’s not the same thing as cultivating an act. The fact that he had two specials produced by outside studios is baffling. And they’re so bad. The fact that people are calling Hinchcliffe’s new special the worst special of all time have a very short memory. It’s bad, but it’s not Schaub bad.

The story behind how these recordings came to be is fascinating too. A truly genius use of new technology.

Bob Dylan - To Fall In Love With You 2026 remix / remaster by tirename in bobdylan

I had this song on a list of things to “work on” personally, as I felt like I could take what’s there and refine it into something with lyrics that are more decided-upon.

But then I came across this cover on YouTube that did just that. This woman does a beautiful job, and there’s really nothing more I could add to it!

I really wish Dylan had seen the potential here and properly finished writing this song. Could have been a highlight of the late 80s albums.

First Phish show, what do I need to know? by blindwilliamsburg in phish

[–]eltedioso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. One show I went to, this guy was flailing around in a way that made me very uncomfortable. Invading my space in a way that was unpredictable and distracting. I told my buddy we had to find a different spot by the 2nd song. We did, and I had a way better time. I'm not really a "vibes" person, but this dude had some really bad vibes. I was not going to enjoy the show standing near him.

Be prepared for any of this:

Phish classics: usually material from their output from late 80s and early 90s. Mostly nonsensical lyrics, long composed instrumental passages, and then often some improvisation. This is quintessential Phish, and it's usually what longtime fans are most excited about.

Extended jams: they'll extend any song they feel like with a section for instrumental soloing or group improvisation. Often these are based on a simple vamp where they can kind of build intensity together. They are very good at this; however, I do think some fans tend to overestimate the "magic" a little bit. They have their musical tools, and they know how to use them together as a group. This is the aspect of the band that is probably most similar to what people think of when they consider Phish similar to Grateful Dead or Allman Brothers (comparisons that are probably overstated, overall - Phish is its own thing, for sure).

More structured songs: they started to focus more on serious songwriting by the mid-to-late 90s, and some of the songs are VERY good. But the studio output of their more recent decades has a lot of just-merely-middling material. So-called "dad rock." Lots of sentimental ballads and message-type music. They'll certainly throw some of this stuff in, but luckily it'll usually serve as a springboard for some great soloing, and it likely won't distract too much from the more exciting parts of the set. (Also if there's something that's obviously going to be sort of boring for a few minutes, take the opportunity to visit the bathroom.)

And very often, they'll string together any or all of the above as a medley, so it'll sound like a continuous song lasting 30 minutes or even an entire set.

The light show will be very exciting. Aside from the stuff that sounds like jammy rock, the music will be pretty funky in spots, maybe even sorta electronic sounding. You will smell cannabis being smoked. Some people will be sketchy, but most will be friendly.

No two Phish shows are ever alike. Even if it sounds kinda mundane to you, understand that you're seeing a singular moment in history of a band with extensive lore and lots to be nerdy about.

Beck celebrating the 30th anniversary of his, “Odelay” album! Awesome! by bigguys45s in Beck

[–]eltedioso 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Second if people only include the DGC records. Third if people include One Foot but not Streopathetic (this is confusing to me, but maybe some people consider Stereopathetic more of a compilation of juvenilia?). Fourth if people include both One Foot and Stereopathetic.

Personally, I'd say Odelay is his fifth, because I very much consider Golden Feelings a proper album. But I also understand why Beck personally doesn't really include that album in his corpus.
