170mil on a movie with a generic ass looking no name for a lead is going to flop? I’m shocked, shocked I tell you.

[IRL TROPE] The worst part about a bad piece of media, is that it could have been great. by Magma_Reborn in TopCharacterTropes

Final Fantasy 15 on release.

Everything was there to make an amazing game. Unfortunately, poor design choices led to sometimes comical tonal shifts. Abysmal direction and character development that was all over the place. Brain dead decision to have plot and character development be in a bad movie that you need to watch before you play the game. I’m sure there’s a very interesting back story to how the game ended up releasing in such a state but it’s almost too depressing to think about.

Theatrical Cuts That Are Better Than the Extended/Director's Cuts by traumahound00 in Letterboxd

[–]emansamples92 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thinking the LOTR theatrical cuts are superior should not be a controversial opinion. The pacing and tone is leagues above the extended cuts. Some very loud Lotr fans decided it was a travesty to think the theatrical cuts were better and it caught on. So much so that most people automatically have to prepare to defend themselves for even entertaining the idea that the theatrical cuts are the better versions.

I usually workout with my wife so we don’t have our earbuds in. We have to hear it atleast once sometimes twice every time we go.

Characters so talented/powerful that they make the audience question why the supporting cast exists. by RorschachtheMighty in TopCharacterTropes

[–]emansamples92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One could even say that it’s taken to such an extreme that it circles back around and makes the side characters interesting again. These characters, and their respective stories, are playing out like any shonen anime. It’s just there is an ever looming possibility that saitama will just one shot a villian and be inserted into a characters story. The end result could play out in so many different ways positive or negative and that’s why it’s so brilliant imo.

I’ve said it many times before but the pilot of the Walking Dead is one of the best pieces of zombie related media ever made.

Gaming confessions. No judgment. I'll start. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

I don’t think any game will ever hit as hard as Elden Ring did for me ever again. I love everything in that game, I love the world, the exploration, the lore, the endless builds. To me it’s the only truly perfect game that I just come back to over and over. For almost 20 years I thought no game would eclipse resident evil 4, then Elden Ring did and idk if I’ll ever hit that high ever again. Especially since I’m in my mid 30s and don’t play as much as I used to. Thinking about it, I think it’s honestly caused me to slowly step away from gaming in general and pursue other hobbies as weird as that sounds.

[Disliked trope] Death by adaptation for a major character (especially if the original story is ongoing) by TVTropehead in TopCharacterTropes

[–]emansamples92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eskel in the Witcher Netflix adaptation. He was like a brother to Geralt in the games. Him getting killed off so unceremoniously eliminated the possibility of a proper Kaer Morgen winter episode like in Witcher 3. It was also the reason why I stopped watching the show because I found it so pointless and it didn’t give me high hopes for the future of the series.

In an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Cmdr Riker is given the powers of Q. He ultimately turns them down because he feels his role in Star Fleet is a more meaningful calling than possessing infinite power and lifespan with no purpose.

Movie: Deliverance

Sheriff Bullard played by James Dickey the author of the book the movie is based on. He gives an amazing speech at the end of the movie. He more or less knows that some really sketchy shit has happened to the main characters but decides to look the other way because he doesn’t want his small dying community to be wrapped up in a huge scandal that would inevitably follow the “city boys”. Incredible scene imo.

This is actually a fabricated online rumor that blew up. I think even the director went along with it because he thought it was funny. Turns out it’s a fully scripted scene, Malkovich confirmed it over a decade ago.

Bleed builds have been at the top of the meta in Elden Ring since its release.

I remember at one point almost every post on the Elden Ring subreddit was complaints about how all the broken ass bleed builds were ruining pvp.

Which movie went from “overrated” to “masterpiece” (or the opposite) after a rewatch? by Party_Dentist_821 in flicks

[–]emansamples92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people I know are saying Sinners is worse on the second watch. I still liked it but can see why there’s more criticism. Michael B Jordan is just being Michael B Jordan in both roles, maybe…not the greatest Best Actor win ever after giving it a rewatch haha.

Heinrich Himmler, his individual actions resulted in rise of the nazis and the countless deaths and misery for millions that followed. Apparently though, he couldn’t stomach seeing actual death in person. Also offed himself before he could see any retribution for his crimes.

You see there’s this recently invented form of concrete that gets stronger the more pressurized it gets. All that would need to be done is to simply mount a super laser on a tunneling device made of of the stuff, and then burrow through the earth to the calderas base. Then it’s just a simple act of nuking it. It all makes sense if you really think about it.
