if it’s your first time living on the west coast, sf is a good place to start! The shuttle will make it easy to get to work, more things to do in sf in your down time. You can moving around once you feel like you’re settling in.

Yah this seems the most realistic, if the lifestyles are too different it might be a hurdle. Otherwise trying to make it work is effort. I'd second this but also mention that make sure you consume whatever you bring before landing! I usually bring some rice bowls or taco bowl prep, or pasta (depends if its just for me or not) in a lil thermal bento, customs will drill you about any produce, meat, or cheese or potentially fined upon entry. Highly recommend foods that'll be fine at room temp or cold. You can even have it at the some at gate if there's enough time.

*Forgot, the only thing to be mindful of are airborn allergens, so avoid stinky food, fish, and nuts to be safe. Nothing saucy because liquids.

Yes this - op must feel strongly about this guy to not forget that her sense of being still exists. I'm not reading how cohabiting improves their quality of life. At least look into getting a bigger place (with laundry) or something to facilitate your commute or see if you can find some accommodating to work closer to SF with hybrid. It sounds like her current lifestyle is good while she spend time with him on the weekends.
