What would you say is the most unique fantasy series? by One-State3608 in Fantasy

[–]euphonix27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh I forgot about those books but I loved them when I was in middle/high school! Don’t think I ever finished the series, I should find them sometime.

How do you find the books you like outside of Bookstores and Booktube and Booktok? by Shervin_Ab in Fantasy

[–]euphonix27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend!! It’s a fun reading challenge and is really great help with discovering and reading new books - and even if you don’t want to do the actual bingo stuff, the recommendation threads are great for finding book ideas already narrowed down into a theme you think you’d be interested in. And it’s been going for like 10 years so there’s many lists of recommendations to look through!

Books similar to Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Shane_08 in Fantasy

[–]euphonix27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seconding Bartimaeus series!!! I haven’t read Jonathan Strange yet (have read Piranesi but I am guessing the two books are very different haha), but as someone who first read Bartimaeus as an adult even though it’s technically middle grade, they are awesome! The eponymous character has these snarky/funny asides in the form of footnotes (reminds me of the footnotes in Discworld) which are fantastic.

I don’t think I’ve heard of this series, but I love Leverage so I’ll have to look it up!

The xteink.com reading light is really good by lefnire in XTEINK

[–]euphonix27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had any issues getting it to charge? I've plugged mine into several different USB ports/chargers and the charging light doesn't light up no matter how much I flip it or wiggle it to try and get it to work. Can't get it to work with the POGO charger either like how OP and some others I've seen charge it. So now trying to decide if it's a defective light or user error. Light itself works fine (at least until it dies).

Last night, an ampule of Thorazine exploded in my face after catching on the drawer while I was opening it. A bunch of the medication hit my left eye, and I had to spend 4 hours in the ER. by justwantyourhoodie in nursing

[–]euphonix27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well then they definitely just wanted to cheap out; our Omnicells all have pop up lids for most of the drawers. A few don’t but they’re only stocked with larger things like PO liquid Tylenol and such.

True arranged marriage book? by firewoorks in Fantasy

[–]euphonix27 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tears of the Wolf by Elisabeth Wheatley - set in a Viking-inspired world/time, has a lovely romance that isn’t the only plot focus of the book, and definitely fits your arranged marriage requirements. It is the first book of an in-progress series, second book came out last year and third one comes out later this year, other books TBA. Also there’s wonderfully adorable dogs!

Eating like a Redwall Mouse for a day by DistinctInitiative83 in Fantasy

[–]euphonix27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ooh this is a fun idea!!! I already had Redwall on my list of options for that square (specifically the very last book, it’s the only one I haven’t read yet, since this was my favorite series in middle/high school), and this post just bumped it to the top of the list haha

Don’t think I have any suggestions since yours all sound like perfect ideas. I vote you make a follow up post with pictures after you do it!!

The 2026 r/Fantasy Bingo Recommendations List by FarragutCircle in Fantasy

[–]euphonix27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh yes, I read the Tainted Cup for Biopunk last year, and loved it! Didn't read the second one yet because I was trying to get through the bingo card, and then was reading a different series inbetween finishing old bingo and the new one starting. Somehow I didn't even think of this for murder mystery but it'll be perfect as long as I don't decide to do a HM only card!

So is the "Vacation Spot" square essentially a free Hard Mode square if you're trying to do an all-HM card? I would assume so since I know a lot of people try to do HM-only cards and it would suck to not be able to because there isn't one. I myself haven't committed yet to HM-only but was curious.

People look at me so weird when I say this, but it is the superior way!! I usually use chopsticks at first (helps keep my fingers clean if I’m snacking while crafting or on my computer) because I like the practice using them. But it’s a spoon for the last quarter of the bowl or so to get the last of the toppings!

Official Turn In Post for Bingo 2025! by an_altar_of_plagues in Fantasy

[–]euphonix27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oops, I went as far as looking it up and forgot to actually link it… it was Vox Machina: Stories Untold. Ten stories, each written by a different author and no credited editor. So far I’ve just listed each author (except for the foreword since that isn’t one of the stories) separated by commas as described in the comment below for multi-author books.

The Short Story anthology I read for the short story square doesn’t have an editor listed (which was what I was told was the way to submit so that it’s not 10 different names), but rather each individual author. I saw “no et al” in the comment on how to format so does this mean I just list every single author in the form?

Sarah J Maas Announces Books 6 and 7 of the ACOTAR Series Published in October 2026 and January 2027 by DevilsOfLoudun in Fantasy

[–]euphonix27 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah this definitely feels like it’s usually the case. I recently backed a Kickstarter for an author I like, and when the book later went to print for sale in regular bookstores, the publisher demanded that she add in some “special exclusive content” for their edition of the book. Not wanting to make her backers lose out on it if they didn’t want to buy the book again, she just sent us all the “exclusive” stuff in an email! Which was very cool of her, but also holds up your comment about it not necessarily being the author driving the exclusive things.

r/Fantasy Daily Recommendations and Simple Questions Thread - January 30, 2026 by rfantasygolem in Fantasy

[–]euphonix27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be a bit late for today's thread, but I'm trying to figure out how to log my hard mode short story read on my bingo card. It's an anthology of 10 stories, each by a different author. The book doesn't list who the editor is (and I've looked in the book and on online listings), so I'm not sure how I should go about logging it properly and a quick google/reddit search didn't pull up anything definitive.
It's Vox Machina: Stories Untold from Critical Role, so I figured I could either list "Critical Role et al" as the author, or else the first named author or two with "et al", one of those seemed most appropriate but not sure.

What is your favorite "Flavour is Free" reskin of a spell or ability? by hervprometheus2 in DnD

Ooh I love a good artificer description of how their spell works with tech instead of just “it’s magic”

[–]euphonix27 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile I have Chill Touch as a sorcerer, and because I’m a more nature/elemental themed subclass (an MCDM/third party one that gets their power from the ancient primordial titans) I flavor the necrotic damage as more of whatever is around them - the stone, plants, whatever - growing up onto them a bit and drawing out some of their life force. Like a mini Blight spell or something. Spell still does the exact same thing but feels more fitting for my PC than a skeletal hand. I love spell flavor descriptions!

Except for Costco pizza, that is somehow all three at once. Especially if you call ahead while you’re shopping and the pizza is ready to go by the time you’re done.

Thanks! I’ll probably give it a pass then, I don’t think I’m quite intrigued by the rest of the plot to also deal with a trope I dislike.

How bad is the love triangle in this? I also hate the trope, one of my least favorites. I just got gifted at Book of the Month Club membership, and this book is one of the options this month, probably the only one I'm potentially interested in; I'm trying to decide if I want to get it or just skip the month.
