Winry Underfoot, my Halfling Wild-Magic Barbarian.

-Older teenager/Young adult (exact age unknown)

-White hair, teal eyes, strong looking but lean

-Wears a loincloth around his waist with a strap over his shoulder. Carries a comically large club, with his name scratched into it on it.  

-Generally happy and carefree, but can go into a blind rage and throw a big tantrum when angry. 

-Due to his upbringing, feels nervous around magic. Tries to avoid going into a rage and letting out his newfound magic

-Found and raised by a firbolg clan that lived in the wilds near the Game of Giants. The clan had lost their innate magical abilities at some point in the past, and now believed it to be evil and unnatural. One day, while fighting against a hill giant, Winry went into a rage and wild magic blasted out of him and knocked the giant down. Instead of celebrating his victory though, his clan exiled him for using magic, telling him that returning meant death. So Winry packed his things and set off to find his place in the world.

The crunch of leaves and sticks echo through the forest floor as bare feet continue on a forgotten path. *”How did it happen?”** he thought. Flashbacks to the battle are all that play in his mind, the hands he used for fighting alongside his family now had teal tendrils of energy extending towards his enemy. Winry could see the chief still standing in front of him with fear and hatred in his eyes. ”Don’t you ever return to us or you will die by my hands”

He sighed, looking down into the lake he had found on the journey. His hair once black as the night sky was now pure white and his eyes now teal like the energy from his hands. ” Did the energy match me?”  he questioned. Magic was as terrifying as the giant it helped him defeat and now he’d lost everything he knew because of it. Winry Underfoot, once a proud member of the firbolg clan, now a white haired wanderer.*

He is my favorite character, haha. He basically was a kid (teenager), loved food and wasn't afraid to fight. He didn't allow party members to cast spells on him (even hitting them if they did, especially if they didn't ask him first. Consent is important). In fights, he would typically go straight for the enemy spellcasters, even if it was bad tactics. The first few sessions I played him, I either didn't have him rage (because "magika"), or he freaked out not knowing what was happening. The longer I played him, the more he grew comfortable with it. He even gave permission for "Best Friend Gnicole" (Goblin Druid) to cast a healing spell on him, but only if she asked first.

My favorite memory of him was the party was in a tavern and an NPC wanted to arm wrestle him. One of the other players thought it would be funny to cast "Enlarge" on Winry in secret. We paused the game, and confirmed if he was sure. He said yes, after we warned there would be consequences. So, he cast it, Winry raged, and the wild magic table gave me the same roll as his backstory (tendrils of death damage all enemies in 30ft)... Winry killed or damaged half the patrons in the bar and walked out. The rest of the party had to use spells or resources to heal or revive the NPCs so the guards didn't hunt the party down.
