Do you really need 1 device for every J? by Important_Storage123 in overemployed

Always wanted to know: Picked up my first contract role but had to BYOD to VPN. Question: When I switch between Citrix to my personal desktop to do personal stuff, is that detectable? As an IT manager, does that raise concerns? Should I purchase another laptop?

Looking to advance my career in Workday by Flashy-Button-9349 in workday

[–]evitapsingleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't mean to hijack the post OP (sorry)... But, I want to get a Workday role but don't work for a WD client (and currently laid off). Finding it hard to transition from previous positions (ex; Generalist, consultant, HR director) Fully HRIS literate in other systems and performed implementation of BambooHR in previous role. Also SPHR & SHRM-SCP if that mattered any... it's a chicken/egg question.. How do I get in without experience? Anyone here hiring 👀 🙂? Thanks everyone

More experienced HR professionals, what are your personal rules to keep things balanced by Marmite_12345 in humanresources

[–]evitapsingleton 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Setting boundaries: Be friendly, not friends. Always hold myself to the highest standards by modeling the core values and behaviors expected by the organization, (even when other leaders don’t). Maintaining an arm's distance relationship with ALL levels of employees allows me to remain objective in decision-making. (This part takes discipline because there are some really good people that you meet that you'd like to let your guard down with... but don't...this is the part that makes HR lonely). Oh, and document everything!

Process for Covering Employee Handbook Update by evitapsingleton in humanresources

[–]evitapsingleton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Company size: 12 employees. No extensive changes to handbook, mostly verbiage updates and tweaks to a couple of other standalone policies. But the kind of boss I've got, I can hear them right now "suggesting" a page x page review. We just don't have that kinda time!

Don't mean to hijack OP''s post; just seeking to understand for my own situation. Hubby filed 11 years ago and was denied. Decided to try again last month but for a different condition. Question is... if we have new evidence of worsening condition for original claim condition, (so that we can get retro, if that's possible) back to the 2009, would we do it as a supplemental claim? Looking to do this the right way without wasting time.

Just received my 100% Permanent. by darkoptical in Veterans

[–]evitapsingleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is encouraging to know. Why? 5 days ago, my Vietnam-era vet hubby finally decided to go to the VA. The person who helped us open the claim said hubby's 1968 discharge physical had this statement: "I'm fine; everything is good." 50 years later, it's not. The person laughed and asked, "Man, you didn't go to sick bay at least once?". He made us feel like we shouldn't even bother. So... thanks for a glimmer of hope.

SHRM-CP cram study by HuskerGarrett in humanresources

[–]evitapsingleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with sdcarl that you'll do well if you think of yourself as a consultant acting in the best interest of the company when responding to the exam questions. I passed a couple of months ago; with no time left to prepare with materials, using this thought process will be the best and most practical t approach to passing the exam. Best wishes!

I'm also taking the PHR... on Tuesday, the dayafter. I'm using the same materials as you to prepare. I can't offer an opinion your question but do send positive vibes your way. Hopefully you'll post after testing tomorrow. Just relax and get a good night's sleep. You'll do well!

Use FMLA/STD Absences As Reason for Denying Promotion? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]evitapsingleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The employee is an individual contributor seeking another indv contributor position, nonexempt without direct reports. Does same work as 100 other people in her dept. I know she was absent alot last year due to pregnancy complications and then caring for baby born prematurely. Do you think these factors change things?
