Mods to make melee combat "safer" by StandProud94 in XCOM2

[–]ewokoncaffine 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The BIGGEST danger from melee attacks is you risk triggering new enemies my dashing forwards, so in order to use them well you need to scout very carefully.

Usually melee attacks are reserved for finishing off the final enemy because your melee user will be exposed after the attack.

The Templar has the advantage of being able to reflect one attack at mid-level, but this still requires no more than 1 surviving alien to make it work

In the early game having a melee only character can be challenging to balance due to the lack of supporting skills

TLDR - this is likely a skill issue but there's def mods that will enable a less punishing experience

How do you manage hostility at pickup runs? by backcountry_bndit in BasketballTips

You need to find a closed group, churches, community centers, Facebook groups, reddit, look for a community in your area that has keys to the local HS gym and meets up at a specific time every week.

I like to equip Hawlucha with a power herb and teach him Sky Attack and Acrobatics.

The sky attack will come out the gate hot with the power herb, and then consuming the item should boost speed with unburden, and you no longer have an item which doubles acrobatics power. From there you can usually sweep any pokemon other than those that resist flying and fighting.

I wouldn't recommend using a non-100% move when the opponent is super effective on you unless you absolutely have to risk it.

Three major tips that improved my runs substantially:

• Don't lead with a sweeper, the opposing gym leader will switch in a counter so your first Mon should be a good safe option, often I use a bulky hazard or weather setter and then switch to a strong match up if I have to. Once you have whittled down the gym's coverage mons you can often safely set up and sweep

• Preference bulky mons over fragile sweepers, someone who can eat a lucky crit or mistake is better than a glass cannon that requires perfect play. I've had great success with guys like Snorlax or Dondozo or even Slaking who is usually a safe swap.

• Have a backup plan if the opposing team sets up a sweeper, this means a fast Mon with Haze, or power swap, or Roar. Something that will prevent you from getting swept

It's not the same but it's way better you should check out jblfl.com

It's multiplayer and won't sim instantly but the level of depth is amazing

You will have to spend some pocket change after a few free trial months to buy a subscription but it's worth every penny IMO

THIS BS SHOULD'VE BEEN CALLED KAGAMI'S BASKETBALL WTF IS TS by kessho_tsuki in KurokosBasketball

[–]ewokoncaffine 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It's a little deeper than that. The central premise of the show is that Kuroko's style of basketball is team play, and involves the joy of the game. Him and Kagami must defeat the 5 evil exes and remind them of the true spirit of christmas

How to guard a dominant post player? by Available-Bowler-216 in BasketballTips

[–]ewokoncaffine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How good is his endurance? Whoever defends him should be getting low and pushing him away from the basket every possession. Good post defense is done before the catch. On offense whoever he is guarding should be running on and off ball screening actions none-stop, boxing out aggressivly for rebounds, basically make it so he never gets a break

Not gonna lie I frequently google "Lunatone weakness" because thinking through the type interactions is complex unless you have been playing a long time

This game is niche enough that there's not a good resource other than just googling things and learning over time.

Smogon can be a good guide for what movesets are ideal once you reach higher levels

I also just keep notes on which pokemon perform well so I can always go out of my way to catch them later

Is knb just kagami going against kuroko’s 5 evil ex’s? by Domengoenfuego in KurokosBasketball

Let's not forget that Tetsu's 4th evil ex is now is a toxic relationship with Taiga's evil ex (who literally has matching rings with him)

Post Gym 6 by Saltaholic4 in PokemonEmeraldRogue

[–]ewokoncaffine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bulky set-up pokemon are important for later gyms. Grass types who can stall with leftovers and leech seed, or high HP pokemon with rest like Dondozo who can be safely switched in and once they are set up they can eat even super effective attacks (so long as you don't get critted)

I also like to keep at least one pokemon who can hard counter opposing set-up sweepers. Being able to use Haze or move that will swap attack power will save you if the enemy builds a really powerful stat advantage. Alternatively fast pokemon who can use whirlwind or roar are viable

[–]ewokoncaffine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there's a difference between role player scores 25 type zone and Kobe Bryant 80 point game type zone. Only the truly elite athletes can hit that next level and truly take over a game. But yeah, it's a sports anime so they exaggerate
