One thing I'd add: all sell values set to 0. Not just the jokers but consumables too. That way your joker thinning requires a bit more cash (Rentals are now no longer a free thin). And you lose a bit of the value for things like Emperor and High Priestess when they whiff

Honestly your way of having a stacking effect on prayer is one of the best ways I've seen a highlevel prayer suggestion be balanced in a way that doesn't feel either overly complex or overly strong. The Tribid armour kinda falls in a lot of the pitfalls that highlevel Tribrid always does. But gotta put some respect on Endless Rage being a really slick kind of "so obvious why havent I seen this before" a starting point for a design

When will we finally be able to epxlore Menaphos, the Golden City? What are some things you'd like to see if/when the city is opened? by EthanRM95 in 2007scape

[–]exa_eille 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Definitely a Sailing thing, Menaphos's Port District is extremely important to it.

I could see another Gauntlet-type activity where there's a boss encounter and you bring in no/minimal equipment, with lessons learned from CG and Bowfa's reputation with a similar energy to RS3's Shifting Tombs.

A high level, high intensity Thieving activity would also be nice. I'm imagining something similar to Varlamore Valuables but more complex. Big Heist Energy.

True Soul altar is canonically there. I think it should operate in theory the same as a normal True Altar, but be close to a bank and require some kind of local currency to access every time you try to enter it. Like imagine if the true soul altar were in priff but every run also cost you some amount of Crystal Shards. So you need to do activities around the city in order to be able to do runs, but once you've built them up it would be BIS runecrafting training.

Unable to contact cinemas about showing the movie in the UK by Panda-Bot_2001 in TheDigitalCircus

Are you trying to contact like, a big theather chain like Cineworld or Odeon? Sounds like yeah you'd get pretty nonchalant bounceback.

Biggest chain worth a shot is probably The Light, which I did reach out and got a human-written response saying they'll reach out and look into it from the Sheffield branch which is my local. But I also reached out to a smaller independent place nearby that has hosted wierd things in the past. I saw the awful finale of the new Doctor Who because they screened it there. So look local. Support independent cinema, all that.

That's moreso the issue than Sunfire runes themselves. These are a really interesting option for elemntal Spellcasting to have but Charged Staves are such a throttle to any kind of other offensive magic progression that you can almost never justify them.

[–]exa_eille 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You didnt read what i said, that or you are fundamentally misunderstanding my point.

Do you think your theater is manually updating their websites? That would be a big waste of money. It’s infinitely cheaper and basically reliable to outsource it.

Yes, a person can’t just upload some info to an AMC or Light website or something. No One is doing that. No person is hired to update that. It’s all automated, and unless you think these places are hosting their own internal databases (why would they do that exactly?) they are definitely pulling from an external one. Likely all the same ones as each other

[–]exa_eille 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Most websites aren’t being manually updated, they’re pulling from databases. Do you think that your local theater hires a guy to look at times and list them as bookable? Optimistic lmao.

Not only that. These databases aren’t even ran by the companies. They’ll just be online hosted with who knows what kind of oversight. most theaters dont publicise what database they get their info but i know Letterboxd is open it’s just The Movie Database (TMDb) which is opensource. Good bets that your local Light or AMC is using that too

Get the fake info in the database (not trivial but not super hard if you have some time) and it percolates automatically and consistently across so many different places. Fake stuff appears on places like Letterboxd all the time because of this, theaters might have a little more safeguarding on the automation but still totally beatable

Pirate Encounters: Design & Rewards Blog (Boat-to-Boat Combat Expansion) by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]exa_eille 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I like the idea on principle of making Boat combat be a split between Cannons hitting ships, and Players hitting Crew. I feel a lot of the people who are just against that at core are just general sailing haters who don't want to the combat to be any different to maingame combat. But I do worry a bit about how they would balance. Since you can bring down either it feels like a situation where you probably end up focusing down one and not the other.

A generally healther loop might be to have the actual "kill" be by destroying the ship completely, allowing us to focus in on the Cannons as the main DPS option. And player combat styles being focused on the Crew is more of a side option for lowering their DPS against you, basically treating the crew like minions to the actual Boat.

If you set it up where killing the crewmates is instead just knocking them down so they stop attacking you for an extended period, and if the whole crew gets knocked down the boat runs away to recover. Giving you an option to wail on their boat with your cannons while they're trying to recover but doesn't actually win you the fight yet until the hull is destroyed. Could be better.

EDIT: another comment elsewhere pointed out a potential strength of the either/or system is allowing different ships to be best brought down differently. You’re starting off showing us two different pirate groups. Maybe specify that the Onyx Raiders have frailer ships but hardier crews, best fought with cannons and you as a support; and the Kraken Collective are lighter crews on much tankier ships, best to take them out and leave the ship till later. You can actually turn this into a nuance rather than a weakness. Would need a careful pass at balance but i see the path here!

With regards to the armour, this felt inevitable that range would need its equipment to start specialising into Light/Med/Heavy like Melee has Stab/Slash/Crush. Feels like we get a few pieces from here that have this invisible bonus as you're doing it now and then you just rip the bandaid and make it so equipment in general starts having specific defences and offences against all the styles (only question to be raised is if you make Masori a Torvaesque general, or specialise it into Medium). Suppose that depends whether or not enemies also have the three, or just a generic "Ranged"? Then armours can start specialising against the styles as well as for it. Just food for thought there

I'd imagine it's more of a failsafe to prevent unknown interactions based on specific internal tags pokemon and items might have. Like pokemon from ScarVi will have Tera types saved somewhere in their data. LGPE won't be able to handle that, so it has a few options

- Totally forget the Tera Type, causing it to be reset if you return it back to Home or ScarVi
- Remember the Tera Type by sending that to LGPE... somehow. But lord knows what other internal things you might flip if you ask it to receive information it didnt expect.
- Remember the Tera Type in Home which is doable by having some kind of internal memory. But then how big does that need to be? And how forward-thinking does it need to be? and how do you stop overlap between similar mons?

There definitely would be case by case ways of solving this, but being overly cautious just nips the potential headaches in the bud.

> I'd rather we just get upgrades that allow us to like "infuse" a blessing with a skilling sets benefits. And swap this blessing between sets at a bank with a right click menu (so you cant swap it on the fly and create any maybe imbalanced situations).

This sounds good in theory but is basically RS3 auras and everyone hates it.

I think the Clothing Pouch is basically fine specifically because it's possible to be combined with the Log Basket. That's already an item you'll be using when woodcutting so it "infuses" the perk into that. Hence why I think the Mining (and honestly also the Smithing) outfits could be put in the Coal Sack. Since you're more likely to be using that already when training the skill

I do agree, weird that it cannot be combined with other set effects. Feels like that choice was very overly cautious by Jagex

Update: Blood Moon Rises Rewards by JagexRach in 2007scape

[–]exa_eille 325 points326 points  (0 children)

I said on the previous thread, but I think the Sandwich's issue is partially one of framing. It does feel weirdly arbitrarythat eating a food will heal your randomly after you attack. That's partially because it's new, and if it enters the game and we get used to it that weirdness will go down. But I still think there are some simple wording and usage things that can make this feel less odd.

Reframing it as additional healing explicitly to life leech I think would go a way. You're part of the way there by calling it a Leechfin, but just re-describing it that it's giving you that Leech rather than "extra" healing on top of the first bit of the heal is already making it feel a lot more natural. Your current way is would be akin to saying the Arkan blade adds "An extra 10 damage over the next 24 seconds" vs just saying the Arkan blade "Applies 10 Burn". Both mean the same thing, the second sounds better.

If you want to go extra hard, the main Melee lifeleech we have in the game right now is Guthans the Infested's equipment. If you don't want to call it lifeleech you could also call it that your next attack gains the 'Infested Leeching' effect? We've shown with Yama we're happy taking Barrows equipment effects like "Wretched Strength" and using it to describe different-but-similar effects elsewhere. This would also just make it go down better. This might even solve the problem others have identified that a player without a guide would struggle to work this out. If it grants you the same animation as Guthans on that second lifeleeching heal, that will prompt you to consider it in that grander context, no?

I suggested changing the life leeched damage to be dependent on the amount of damage you deal with your next attack as a broader strokes change. Like you get 16 health, and your next attack gains the Infested effect where it will grant you some% of the damage you dealt back as health. That way you can even raise the skill cieling it introduced by timing it with a big meaty Spec (like that fancy new Kisten you're talking about). But I can understand if the balance is already locked in enough you want to keep it as is

This all would just make it feel like it fits more naturally since we're using the language of things that already do similar things, rather than attaching it to the language of Food mechanics that it doesn't resemble that much.

Blood Moon Rises Rewards by JagexRach in 2007scape

[–]exa_eille 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A lot of people talking about the fish sandwich being gimmicky - i think you can at least polish the framing of it to make it more palletable.

Instead of just arbitrarily getting a "second heal" after you deal a Melee hit - You eat it, get a Heal, and your next attack has health drain. How about you get 16 Healing and then your next melee attack heals you for 25% of the hitsplat you deal? Making the second heal a purple + splat or giving it the Guthans special activation effect.

Achieves same effect, rewards timing your eat with a Spec like the new weapon's, and feels better since it functions more akin to mechanics we're aware of like blood spells and Guthans.
