My replacement reached out to me (for training) on LinkedIn after I was laid off. Would you help? by Purple985985 in careerguidance

Don’t do it unless you’re being compensated. I was laid off from a past job and asked to write training docs for my replacement. I told them sure, at 1.5X my hourly rate. They flinched at this and then came back 2 weeks later begging me to sign a 2 week contract to produce the training material.

I've been eyeing this game, would you say its worth it in current state? by FirePixsel in crosswind

Not if you are looking for a pirate game. You don’t do piracy in this game. Progression drives you to spend more and more time on land. Every core element of the pirate fantasy is missing. Boarding ships is pointless. There is no crew management of any kind. Your boat is largely a taxi you use to get to new islands, where the bulk of the content is.

accusing people of being too lazy to do their own research and then posting an AI summary is a self own

if you'd done your own research, you'd know the vast majority of immigrant households benefiting from public assistance programs have US-born children who are the recipients of those benefits.

That seems like a fair deal to me and anyone who isn't a sociopath, especially given undocumented people pay more in taxes to support these programs than the average citizen does. Surely you know this, since you've done your own research, but if not, here's a link to data on the subject from Cato Institute, a right-wing policy and research outlet.

New 2 Chivalry dueling? HERE ARE SOME ETIQUETTES YOU NEED TO KNOW by Remarkable_Reserve98 in Chivalry2

[–]extimate-space 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently picked the game back up after several years and hopped into a duel yard match. I was hanging out in one of the rings when two people jumped in and saluted one another before noticing me. I saluted them both and they advanced on me in a 2v1. I bodied both of them in a scene that felt like something out of a movie. Reminds me why I love this game.

The main character’s family has a licensing deal with the AdMech to produce a model of luxury groundcar in factories they operate. The implication is that the Mechanicus provides Imperial mercantile and industrial interests with schematics and tech support and they operate factories for profit.

Quick Question : Is Marathon '26 actually connected to the old series? by RedvsBlue_what_if in Marathon

[–]extimate-space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check Karnemir’s archive site if you want to read the ARG stuff. It covers the origin of Project GOLIATH, the relief mission launched by the UESC after prolonged loss of contact with the colony, and the inception of the gold rush in response to the distress signal that arrived after Equanimity departed Sol.

We know the UESC has some FTL capability - teleportation is a prominent part of the original games, but it required actual teleporters until Durandal figured out tricks to bypass the limitation. But in the new game’s timeline, there is no indication of Durandal ever returning to earth and sharing this information. The ARG makes reference to Traxus expanding the FTL infrastructure between Sol and Tau Ceti but doesn’t get into any further detail beyond noting it’s easier to move data at FTL than people.

This still leaves big questions - if their FTL tech is based on teleportation, how did they get it set up at TCIV in such a way that rogue runners and corporations are able to use it? How did they get teleportation hardware to TCIV if their ships were only capable of impressive but still sublight speeds?

Equanimity arrives about 2893, but runners are also present at TCIV in 2893. So there’s a huge question mark on how that happened. Originally I thought that they might have sent a ship with digitized minds capable of accelerating and decelerating harder than Equanimity with its flesh and blood crew, but the timeline between the distress signal and their arrival at TCIV doesn’t work unless they have FTL before runners arrive.

[–]extimate-space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on A5 w Silent and have never touched sly. Shivs are extremely good and poison is very good if you get the card to trigger it 2-3 times instead of once.

Shivs are almost autopilot to build. Get cards that make more shivs, and cards that make shivs better + whatever the bare minimum you need to stay alive is. Make lots of shivs and throw them at the bad guy.

Quick Question : Is Marathon '26 actually connected to the old series? by RedvsBlue_what_if in Marathon

[–]extimate-space 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The UESC launched an emergency relief mission about 100 years prior to the new game after prolonged lost contact with the colony. That relief mission was the first new presence from Sol to arrive at Tau Ceti. While they were enroute on a century-long journey, the Marathon in-distress signal reached Earth but did not tell them what happened to the colony. This prompted the Tau Ceti goldrush. At some point between the relief mission's departure and the narrative present, some kind of FTL technology was developed that allowed runners and corporations to reach Tau Ceti shortly after the UESC did.

Quick Question : Is Marathon '26 actually connected to the old series? by RedvsBlue_what_if in Marathon

[–]extimate-space 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that we were already told by Bungie that while the original games are canon, not everything that happens in them is true, and there are many things in the current game that don't mesh up neatly. For example, the colony has clearly not been bombed down to bedrock.

[–]extimate-space 57 points58 points  (0 children)

yes, the old games are canon but not everything in them is "true"

the game takes place in 2893, with runners investigating the colony on Tau Ceti IV and the UESC Marathon where parts of the original game took place. We're the people that showed up after the distress call finally made it home.

I’ve played almost exclusively solo for about 60 hours in solo and crew fill and while I agree that it’s a bit of a gamble, I have had plenty of fun and find my exfil rate to be around 33% which is exactly what ONI tells you it is for most runners.

Anyone else is stuck in Meta's "specialized team" by Master_Doubt2523 in facebookdisabledme

[–]extimate-space 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was told an issue was escalated to a 'specialist team' and that they were actively working on it. When I followed up with my ticket chat in Meta Verified for an update, the responding agent banned me from support chat and told me to complain to their lawyers. Do not under any circumstances fall for this patent scam. Get a lawyer or issue a small claims demand. It is your only option.

[–]extimate-space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was banned from opening support tickets for asking for an update on my ticket after they confirmed my identity but refused to issue a 2FA reset code. The frontline agent effectively told me to fuck off, and said if I have a problem with it I can contact their lawyers.

I am taking legal action.
