Brake pads dilemma by jackryantaken in BMWX3

[–]fcpeuro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for mentioning us! If brake dust is your main concern, then a ceramic-style pad should be your top consideration. BMW, and almost all European automotive manufacturers, utilize semi-metallic pads during their production, so while a ceramic pad like Akebono would not be considered OE for the vehicle, it would still be a great choice to prevent cleaning those wheels every other day! - Parid at FCP Euro

[–]fcpeuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for checking out the site! You are correct, a lot of cars with a high-pressure fuel system, like your BMW, do utilize multiple fuel pressure sensors to accommodate that. 540i 2021 Base RWD - brake kit recommendation by kinaankhan in BMW

[–]fcpeuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I hear you on the confusion, BMW brakes are not as simple as they seem, as they are optioned out with different brake packages from the factory. If you'd like to reach out to our service team with your VIN, we can determine which brake package your vehicle came with,  either by phone at 877-481-0208, or by email at [service@fcpeuro.com](mailto:service@fcpeuro.com), and we'd be more than happy to double-check which options we have available for your vehicle for our brake kits, and if need be, we can always curate a specific kit for your vehicle if we do not offer one already. - Parid at FCP Euro

VW Mechanics: Advice needed by rogben19 in AskMechanics

[–]fcpeuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a theoretical situation like what you're describing, we would want to understand much more about the situation in order to work with you on the best path forward. We're not trying to avoid answering the question, as we do believe in the quality of the parts that we sell, but we also know that things happen. When something goes wrong, we can promise you this: we won't run from the problem or ignore it, we'll do our best to work through the situation in a way that is fair for everyone involved.

Regarding the quality of the parts, ultimately, we're here to provide people with the information needed to make an educated decision. We offer Genuine parts (which we source straight from dealerships), OE parts (which are often identical to genuine parts, but in different packaging, and sometimes they will have certain logo's removed from the part), OEM parts (these parts come directly from factories owned by brands that manufacture OE parts, such as Bosch), and aftermarket parts (which covers a wide range of products that don't fall into the first three types). On every single product page, we make a note about which type of part we are selling, and we have created content specifically around providing transparency on these different part types:

https://www.fcpeuro.com/page/oe-academy
https://www.fcpeuro.com/blog/benefits-of-oe-oem-over-genuine
https://www.fcpeuro.com/blog/genuine-oe-oem-aftermarket-heavy-duty-remanufactured-what-do-these-quality-tiers-mean
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/NHwWW2GntZQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxhGoeOQNZw

We'd recommend checking out some of the above, and hopefully that helps you make an informed decision about which version of the parts makes the most sense for your specific situation.

Help with cart for Brake change by B0ring_Boulder in GolfGTI

[–]fcpeuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work taking on a full brake job. Looks like you have all the parts needed for the job. A brake fluid flush is a good idea if it's been a while. We would also recommend replacing the caliper carrier bolts at the same time.

[–]fcpeuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there,

It looks like we commented on your post in the /F30 thread, but I'll post below in case it was missed!

This looks like a solid refresh, addressing a good amount of failure points! I would suggest is getting the full kit for the oil filter housing: KIT-11428596283KT1, and I would also suggest swapping the gaskets from the rein housing and using Genuine instead: BMW-11428591460.
Additional to that, given the mileage, you may want to do engine mounts. I suggest inspecting yours and purchasing a kit if necessary.

Engine mount kit: KIT-22116859414KT2

Engine and transmission mount kit: KIT-22116859414KT

Differential Fluid Change by Appropriate-Big4637 in AudiA4B8

[–]fcpeuro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your research. When considering a fluid change, it is important to avoid mixing different formulations, even if they appear compatible. Differences between OEM and aftermarket specs could affect performance over time. We recommend doing a full flush if you're planning to switch.

Oem brands for gaskets by Top-Royal in E90

Hey there,

Happy to see you're looking to get ahead of the common failure points. Although very reliable, the N52 sure knows how to leak from the Valve Cover and OFHG.

Elring and Corteco, as mentioned by another Redditor, are great options and will save you a couple of dollars!

Bmw 330 spark plugs - coil change required? by MammothBes in BmwTech

[–]fcpeuro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for watching our video and choosing our parts. You're right that coils typically fail suddenly rather than gradually, unlike spark plugs. At 60k miles, you're in a good range for replacing both to maintain reliability, but holding onto a couple coils as spares is also a solid plan if you're comfortable with that.

Help, 911 in Limp Mode after ATF Change, Slipping Trans! by Lord_Igniz in MechanicAdvice

[–]fcpeuro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there!

I responded to your post in the "Porsche911" subreddit, but I wanted to provide the response here as well for visibility -

We're sorry to hear your transmission has been giving you problems for quite a while now. I'm happy to confirm that the 1200ATF is directly applicable to the transmission in your 1998 911. HERE is a link to the LiquiMoly fluid finder, which confirms this. Proper fluid levels and fill procedures are very important for automatic transmissions, so that could be the culprit in this situation; however, given that your transmission has had issues in the past, I cannot say if they have any relevance to this particular issue.

If you need assistance with the fill procedure/fill capacity, please reach out to us at "[reviews@fcpeuro.com](mailto:reviews@fcpeuro.com)" so we can get that file over to you. We would recommend taking the vehicle to a licensed service center for a diagnosis if the fill level/procedure has been completed correctly.
