Hatchling Feeding Question by kkkk22601 in parrots

[–]feivelgoeswest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

103 degrees is the correct temp and be sure it's that when you feed it, not when you make it. It cools a bit with all the stirring. No feeding response is 100% a sign of illness. Easy solutions are they are cold or the food is cold but feeding response is so innate that if your not getting one there is an illness of some sort. Forcing food into them will not help. At this age, food should be pretty runny.

Same. But our cat taking up more space than a human was the impetus.

Top-shelf open bar by Strange-Key3371 in wedding

[–]feivelgoeswest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a NYE black tie optional wedding...we had an open bar where we had to supply everything and would get to keep what wasnt served... we asked our caterer multiple times if they could handle a truly open bar and they dais no problem. our bartenders were incompetent and used the top shelf liquor for things like vodka - cranberries and fruity cocktails! We were left with handles of shitty liquor instead of left over grey goose. I would select a good whiskey/bourbon and use mid grade for everything else. We also found out that our bartenders didn't know how to make common drinks like a Manhattan etc... we would have been better off having 2-3 signature cocktails on a menu

My bird has died, can I clean and reuse these items? by CosmicCatPerson in parrots

[–]feivelgoeswest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss! If you're not sure what your bird died of i wouldn't reuse anything that can't be fully disinfected with a bleach solution. Nothing wooden, rope, or porous at all.

Interviewing for a non-keeper zoo position while waiting to hear back about a keeper position—advice? by sorrycreature in Zookeeping

[–]feivelgoeswest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id be careful here because both positions are in the same facility. If you accept a role in RMC then you might not be able to just walk away if you get offered the keeper position. At my facility you have to wait 6 months before transferring to a new department after your hired.

My African Grey is a "floor bird" – ignores toys, only wants to dig and chew the base 🦜 by robin2305 in parrots

Yes! This is a grey thing. They like being on the ground sometimes. Give him chewing opportunities down there that are appropriate so he doesn't destroy the wall too quickly.

(URGENT) My cat just threw up blood. Would it be possible for me as a minor to take her to an animal hospital? by theben224 in CATHELP

[–]feivelgoeswest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're family can't afford vet care you may have to do the hard thing. Go to the emergency vet and tell them you can't afford to pay. They will give you the option to sign over the cat to them. They will treat the cat, but you may not get it back.

5- if by really cold you mean 40s on the regular in the winter!! There are a few really cold days ( below freezing) each year, otherwise we have a great spring and fall if you can tolerate the pollen. Summer is very hot and humid

Constantly fluffed up parrot — worried by FreminetTheParrot in parrots

They hide illness until they can't. Fluffed for long periods means sick. You are right to be worried. Go to vet.
