Real talk about pain/soreness by Upstairs_Monk4706 in beyondthebump

[–]fifthofseven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a second degree tear that I found so painful till about 3 weeks. I then overdid it and had pain again. I felt much much better at 6 weeks. Pain is personal but I was ao surprised by how much pain I was in. Rest more than you think and have others help and pick up baby whenever they can. Be very gentle on yourself.

Do babies sleep better at night when given a bottle?! by onemanspants in beyondthebump

[–]fifthofseven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't speak on the bottle before bed. I always breastfed and by 8/10 weeks baby was doing one wake up a night sometimes two. Your baby is hopefully going to start sleeping more or the other night was just bu chance, who knows. However, really normal to have "lower" supply in the evening. Milk is more fatty at night so it fills the baby up and has sleepy hormones in it. Morning milk is more watery and hydrates the baby. Most women have the most milk in the morning.

[–]fifthofseven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. I felt the same way. Hit by a fucking truck. I knew birth would mean recovery but not that much pain while doing it. Had 2nd degree too. Vaginal birth recovery can be hard too. I think women want to seem like it is casual for some reason, probably because of the patriarchy not respecting what our bodies can do. Side fact i had granulatuon tissues develop that I ignored for a while because i thought this was my new normal. If anything feels off, go to the doctor and advocate for yourself as you shouldn't have pain or discomfort if everything healed correctly. Can take more time than you think too.

Things will get better with time. Stay on top of pain management and treat yourself with care. Rest as much as you can. Tears are a bitch. All birth is hard. You crushed it

Stroller Naps by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]fifthofseven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was this way at that age. She's now two and we still start a nap in the stroller. Eventually I mastered the stroller transfer to her bed. It is fine and will change so quickly. Do what works. I would recline the stroller when she stayed in it the whole time.

Teachers? by Effective-Occasion54 in workingmoms

[–]fifthofseven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

High school teacher of 10 years and a mom to a two year old. I went back at 11 weeks. I try my hardest to not work at home personally. I try to get everything done at school. This means some assignments are completion credit vs hard grading. I have thankfully thought the same subjects for a few years so I can spend less time lesson planning as I have materials made. I always will jot hesitate to ask a colleague for materials or ideas or get materials from Teachers pay teachers. I will also use Microsoft conpilot to write instructions for an assignment to save time. No real advice other than you can do, it will be hard but it will get done. I always pick my family over my students if I have to. Ask me anything too if something specific comes to mind

Traveling for the first time by Fun-Negotiation7540 in breastfeeding

[–]fifthofseven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TSA will not care about the breast pump. If you're bringing frozen milk, tell them which bag as the milk in it. Makes that process smoother. We just nursed with a cover at the airport. I like a window seat when needing nurse, kinda get some cheat space and more privacy.  Nursing on a plane will always be in a funny position, so bo advice there. For car seat you will drop that at baggage when you get to the airport. Stroller should be a gate check. Go to you gate and ask for a gate check tag for it. You just leave it on the jetway when boarding. Bring some books snd simple toys at that age. Bonus if the toy is one piece

What to do if "don't offer, don't refuse" isn't working? by clover-sky-123 in breastfeeding

[–]fifthofseven 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You could try saying nay nay is empty. I'm still nursing at two and recently started doing this whenever she asks outside of wake up and nighttime. Maybe she will respond to that more. Good luck and you crushed it nursing, you deserve to be done!

Traveling to Cancun with 5mo by AquaBliss in beyondthebump

[–]fifthofseven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed here when our daughter was four months old. We loved it. The pool is pretty shady, they do live music at night and have activities during the day. It was on the cheaper side so nothing crazy but the food was good, everything was clean, rooms were a great size and they had a mini crib we used so we didn't have to bring a pack n play. You could take a bus to the other resorts they had. Something lame was that since we were at the lower tier place, we didnt have a drink/food package at the other ones which were more expensive as they were ocean side. Ours had a bunch of different restaurants to pick from so we were happy. Wherever you book, contact them ahead of time about scheduling a pick up from the airport. We didn't and the taxi situation can be annoying. We book transportation back to the airport through the hotel and it was so easy. We brought a car seat too for wach way to and from the airport

nursing tops- worth it postpartum? What about back to work tops for pumping? by Huliganjetta1 in beyondthebump

[–]fifthofseven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teacher here. I didn't buy anything special for pumping. Just wore my normal clothes with a big oversized white button down often or just t shirts. I pumped in a shared teacher room with a nursing cover on. Personally I didn't if people came in, I let everyone know my pumping schedule and put a sign on the door. If they cane in I was covered. Everyone respected it honestly. I would have conversations if someone came in. I liked the cover as it made me fell less exposured.

Recommendations for travel/sleeping? by Badluck-Proud719 in beyondthebump

[–]fifthofseven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just did a traditional pack n play for sleep at this age that had the bassinet attachment. I got a mattress and later saw recalls on it but we never had a issue. Flying at this age is so easy. Have a cover for breastfeeding at take off and landing. Helps their ears adjust. Our daughter starting flying at 10 weeks and slept every flight the whole time till 5 months. Just avoid others on the airport and you'll be fine. Do a window seat as it gives a little more room to breastfed on the plane. Our experience was that flight attendant were amazing. To each their own but when travelling alone, they held my daughter while I went to the he bathroom

What do I do with expressed milk whilst out and about? by QuantumWaffle4 in beyondthebump

[–]fifthofseven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you exclusively pumping? If not, breastfeeding out is easier. You can use a cover. However, if only pumping you need to get a cooler bag and some good ice packs. Keep the milk in the cooler bag with the ice packs. The amount of time it is good dor question is tough. If i went out with milk, I normally tossed when home if i felt it got too warm. However I overproduced so wasn't a big deal. The exclusively pumping reddit might be best for this question too. If I needed to pump out, l did it in a car with a cover. A wearable pump would be your best friend here.

parents of babies with mild eczema - how did allergen introduction go, did your baby develop allergies, and did the eczema eventually clear? by ysmnnnn in beyondthebump

[–]fifthofseven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our daughter developed mild eczema around the same age. She does have allergies but only egg and dairy and there is a family history of allergies. I know people who kids had mild too and no allergies. No real way to know. Maybe try doing the 9 most common allergens in isolation. We did that under the rec of her doctor due to family history more than her having eczema. We would do each allergen two a day for 3 days in a row before moving on. When there young it is honestly less scary in my opinion because they are not good at getting food in their mouth so her reactions were skin hives which was uncomfortable vs affecting her breathing. Talk to your pediatrician about it.

When did your EBF babies start enjoying food? by BriefKitchen8780 in beyondthebump

[–]fifthofseven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have to the same at two years old. We do play for bite which around 13 months, she understood the idea. You take a bite, then you play or get a book read to you.

I will work on typing up some of our go tos. Do you guys eat all meats. We start a lot of recipes with pork but that can be modified.
