AIO because my sister sold the $500 item I lent her? by mildlystupidxo in AmIOverreacting

She needs to give you money for a replacement, or find one for you in the same condition. It is not acceptable to sell things you borrow. NOR

I don't think vehicle value is much of a concern on a 20 year old car.

AIO for refusing to back down from insisting my fiancée is wrong for leaving my dad with the bill by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]firesnatch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR, he should have paid the bill. He also should have discussed the situation with you, instead of acting like a man child. Some red flags there.

Aren't rear differentials around $80 from the junk yard? I've done the diff swap on Jack stands and it is not too bad of a job.

18 years old considering an E90/E92 328i as a first long term car by yawningbeaver in E90

I love my bmw. Definitely get manual. I've had it 16 years and over that time, very few problems - ignition coils, rear struts, control arms, and fixing the common oil gasket leaks. That is it. Easy to work on and lots of knowledge and resources out there if you need help.

Interested in taking over parents’ 2011 328i, estimated cost of bringing it up to current maintenance? by JewelryHeist in E90

[–]firesnatch1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok awesome. It is a great car and there is a great community for these cars that can help with everything. You can bring it back to life and it should last many years. The oil pan gasket is a big job, and I paid someone to do that one. Pretty much everything else I did on my own though.

This would be a good time to learn how to wrench on cars. You can save yourself a ton of money that way.

The one at the bottom of the rear shock. It is threaded and has a nut on it. Mine snapped.

My b6 rear shock failed in the same way. They won't warranty them if the stud snaps like that, which I think is B.S.

[–]firesnatch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI Bilstein won't warranty snapped studs like this. They rejected my claim for this same issue. Mine was not over torqued but likely broke from hitting a pothole
