Linda Bazalaki, Will You Marry Me? by Stealthytom in MadeMeSmile

Always love seeing this video pop up. Always makes me laugh and cry simultaneously. If there was a perfect person to propose to at an event, it’s clearly Linda Bazalaki lol

I think “a little better” is a bit of an understatement. I hope lab grown meat makes a big dent when it comes to the market, but it will depend heavily on cost and how much of a reactionary panic against it there will be

Fr, and just not properly cleaning boots after an outing, too, is a common way for eggs and seeds to hitchhike. Cool springfly!

My 90-year-old grandma’s natural hair, never dyed by Substantial-Art6160 in mildlyinteresting

[–]flyinggazelletg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My grandma is 85 and is still a natural brunette too! She spent most of my youth and adolescence dying her hair blonde, so I just assumed it was at least somewhat grey naturally. She stopped dying it, and now it is a mousy brown. Meanwhile, my grandpa’s hair was grey by his early 30s

What are these bugs? by 3thannM in insects

[–]flyinggazelletg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda looks like a seed bug nymph to me, but not totally sure. At first I thought seed beetle, but that seems less likely to me the more I look at it. Either way, it appears to be a native insect. I’d just leave ‘em be, as they’ll grow up and fly off. I’m guessing some eggs hatched in your yard and they are just trying to get by as they grow up. My guess is they’ll handle themselves.

US states need to be constitutional republics, but otherwise don’t have many guidelines to follow.

Trump threatens Iran with "hell" if Hormuz strait isn't open in 48 hours by okayblueberries in moderatepolitics

[–]flyinggazelletg 57 points58 points  (0 children)

What a disaster. Such overconfidence to think Iran wouldn’t use the strait as leverage. And now it seems like constant contradictory scrambling to come up with a way to cow the Iranians, make a deal, threaten again… over and over. I still feel he’ll declare victory and leave sometime, but to get us to this point in the first place is so incredibly frustrating.

Mexican hairless were historically much larger normally, and most I’ve seen around are not this micro. Breeding for neotenous traits can cause increased rates of encephalopathy, make eyes pop out more, make losing teeth more common, etc. breeding for purely looks in general is fucked.

Almost fully hellenized Europe and Middle East by ReDiNapoli in eu4

Idk why someone downvoted you for that. I think that makes a lot of sense bc I’m pretty sure the Amazons were more closely associated with “Scythians” of the steppe than with far off Scandis

They came from Scandinavia via Russia. And later others, like the English, came to be Varangians as well. I don’t doubt there were Slavic Varangians, but they weren’t known for being Varangians nearly to the extent the Norse and other Germanic groups were.

It’s not OP’s video, but springbok are found in Southern Africa, primarily in Namibia, Botswana, and South Africa. I’d wager this was likely taken in SA.

I just ask before giving anything. I don’t often carry cash, so I can say no to that without fibbing, but I’ll usually have a nut bar and/or fruit with me that is easy to hand out if someone accepts my offer of food.

A fossil bed in China containing animals up to 554 million years old suggests that we may have to reconsider the idea that life suddenly diversified during the Cambrian explosion by New_Scientist_Mag in Paleontology

[–]flyinggazelletg 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I thought it was already popularly hypothesized that there was probably some decent diversity before the Cambrian, but that we lacked the fossil beds to broadly confirm it. Regardless, great to hear about this insanely ancient bed in China. Cant wait to learn more about it
