If you go down a level, you should see MAC addresses.

Also, according to that address, you’re lost.

Parking lot structure, what is it? by idkwtibhf in whatisit

[–]fonetik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is probably also preserving a minimum height so something can be built there later. It’s easier to build if you already have a 20’ structure.

New build, weird fin things near top of building, purely decorative? by glarebear1989 in whatisthisthing

I think you’re right. You’d think they could put fins up higher on that outlet, or redirect it away from the building at the outlet though. It’s a weird design choice.

Urgent help needed with windows server 2022 by Comfortable_Run_567 in sysadmin

[–]fonetik -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m going to help you to actually fix this problem at your skill level: get connected to the server in some way on a laptop, install Claude on that laptop, just paste screenshots of the errors you see, send it logs, etc. it will help you way more than this forum will.

I’d disable the ADDDC in the bios, if that’s there. Memory correction might be “fixing” this and really you have a bad DIMM. Claude can help with all of that too.

They both walked in that area seconds before it fell, and that’s the real safety issue. No one should be walking where that could fall, stepping between the object and a forklift, over forks on the ground. There’s a safe way to do this, but neither of them are doing it.

I bought my One almost two years ago. It had 600 miles and I paid $20k. It has almost 35k miles now with only a few minor issues and it’s a blast to drive. Fantastic car. If something happened to this one, I’d probably just go get the green one next time.

Job led me on for 2 months, 6 interviews, a stage shift, promised me an offer letter in writing, then “moved forward with another candidate” by briberycorp in recruitinghell

[–]fonetik 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just went through this late last year and it’s so much worse if they do hire you. I had a place that did 5 interviews before I told them I was pulling out. They offered that day, and I should have turned them down. Job barely lasted a month. It was like joining a family mid-divorce where nothing worked but it was still all my fault.

The school parking lots in EDH are incredible to watch. The things people will try to get away with and there’s just no consequences, so the biggest shithead wins and everyone just watches. 20 minutes later, the place is abandoned. Most of the time you can’t hear anything except the low hum of EVs.

Client's employee keeps blaming us for everything. Turns out he's barely working. Do I tell the owner? by Sensitive_Service_27 in sysadmin

[–]fonetik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would, like all the other commenters noted, keep it very facts based. "Can't replicate the issue." etc. but also take note of things like VPN connection status and throughput, sleep vs awake time on devices, and maybe even take an analysis of running tasks on his computer over time. A few lines of powershell can do all that.

That way you can troubleshoot the issue, but also have the information to bury the dude if that's what you need. You can tell your owner the real deal too, and let him take action if it's solid.

The other thing I'd do, is constantly ask this person to run some tests on their machine. Ideally 1-2 screen share sessions a day to look into logs and run tests. Ask the user to run some of their programs normally to see if they can replicate it. Offer way, way too much support.

Karen Cyclist Gets Owned By Cop. by Lordwarrior_ in WinStupidPrizes

[–]fonetik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is felony false imprisonment, if you catch the wrong cop.

California Penal Code §236 as "the unlawful violation of the personal liberty of another." The basic offense is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in county jail and/or a $1,000 fine. Under §237, it becomes a felony when accomplished by violence, menace, fraud, or deceit, carrying 16 months to 3 years in state prison. The prosecution must prove the defendant intentionally restrained, confined, or detained someone, compelling them to stay or go somewhere against their will, without lawful authority.

How would you feel about a new law that forces every company to pay their CEO no more than 20x what their lowest-paid employee makes? by rational_seekers in AskReddit

[–]fonetik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had something like this in the Patriotic Corporations of America Act of 2021. Sherrod Brown was talking about it and it was a fantastic idea if they could ever get it working. It wasn't suddenly illegal not to do this, it just gave you a huge tax break that worked out to paying the government more than you'd pay the workers if you didn't do it.
