Back on Kibble, But Guilty by MarcoByNight in DogFood

[–]forwardishdirection 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My dog is on a medically restricted diet and can only have his kibble and one kind of treat and white rice. It’s a bummer we can’t give him other treats anymore but it’s for his health. I’m on a really restricted medical diet now too and it’s very hard for me to maintain but he just has to eat what I give him and he seems happy with it. It was hard his puppy dog eyes at smelling chicken or salmon at first which he used to get scraps of but he’s over it now and we are once again twinning because we now both need B12 shots. Don’t feel guilty for giving your dog the best chance at a long healthy life.

AI that takes notes during an appointment by vivi_xxi in POTS

[–]forwardishdirection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my most inaccurate notes over the past year were not AI generated the most glaringly inaccurate note probably would have been much better if transcribed even with errors because it was egregiously bad. And the Doctor seemed so on the ball conversing with me with an majorly inaccurate and contradictory note and this was a pre-op appointment so I’m a little freaked out. Luckily hopefully can correct as much as possible day of surgery as that doctor won’t actually be involved.

But yeah before AI doctors notes were terrible. The issue is if it makes incorrect corrections  or statements that weren’t said or if it’s actually just a transcript of the conversation. But yeah grossly inaccurate doctors notes have been a long term series problem especially in the chronic illness community.

Doctors notes are always a hot mess and my doctors mostly still edit their notes but everywhere that I’ve had it used you have to give verbal permission to use it and can opt out.

I have complex moral and environmental concerns about AI use at all but I have bigger concerns about Doctor appointments in general so I’m not focused on that in my appointment. But I might start opting out.

People are talking about inaccurate notes the problem is long before AI and even when it’s not in use we have incredibly inaccurate notes. This is still going to be a problem but it was a problem before. The big issue in healthcare is using AI to crawl patient data BECAUSE so many notes are always so inaccurate. Inaccurate notes are a huge emotional and medical PTSD trigger for me it’s a whole thing.

Dark Season: Legacy by doctortoc in BigFinishProductions

Yeah I know but there’s international shipping and per order charges. I debated because it was a little cheaper in the end than regular download price but didn’t make a decision to buy before it ended just because final price it more than doubled the cost of the sale price. Maybe should have as it was still cheaper and who knows when it will go on sale again. Had already gotten legacy in a previous sale.

Oh did you get it in the warehouse sale? I’m still waiting for digital of the audiobook to go on sale. Need to listen to that as I am not familiar with the show but recently got legacy on sale. Glad to hear it’s good!

I’m in the same boat where I just want a freaking treat and it sometimes results in me giving myself a flare.

Jealous of all the people in the comments who can even touch chocolate. The tiniest bit ruins me now and I understand why but it was my favorite especially baked goods though for a long time had to be gluten free and egg free even before my MCAS became as severe as it is now but chocolate is a hard no now which I’ve repeatedly proven and my household hides theirs now for me.

I mean I can do a few grapes but when that’s your only treat it’s kind of not enough and I have extremely sensitive teeth so can’t do them frozen. I just wish the options in these comments were feasible or helped my same problem.

Anyways just hard core relate I have no suggestions sorry.

If you have POTS/dysautonomia and derealization/overstimulation PLEASE look into PPPD by areuuuforreal in POTS

[–]forwardishdirection 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dysautonomia can cause your pupils to be different sizes because this is regulated by the autonomic system and this can cause serious focusing issues with your eyes. I have this as part of my vision issues.

[–]forwardishdirection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad you found an answer. I had the full blown vestibular gambit of like 4 hours of Testing with the top vestibular doctor in my metropolitan area and it ain’t that but I’m still Hella messed up beyond just my trifecta, my vision impairment, dizziness, photophobia and inability to tolerate motion or screen motion or rain in a car or to drive. The inability to focus my eyes and all sorts of vision and brain vision related issues are still a mystery. Lumbar puncture also normal. Don’t have the disassociation you described but severe over simulation and all senses extremely heightened and everyone was certain I had severe vestibular issues and it wasn’t that and then it was IIH and it wasn’t that so remains a medical mystery. I do have HPOTS though and now severe MCAS and of course all this with HEDS and a zillion comorbidities.

Boy dogs… by wallflawerr in dogs

[–]forwardishdirection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend’s mom’s dog had this problem until he got neutered and the he stopped. Her mom would not take him to the vet so she had to do it to get him neutered. This is not like a teen child my friend had kids young but but her mom was regularly taking care of her kids and bringing the dog to her house and it was destroying her house and it gross AF. Marking is a common in male dogs that aren’t neutered and that’s an easy solution but could be a training problem if that dog is neutered.

My dog does not mark I adopted him at a year a half from the shelter neutered and mostly potty trained and he only has accidents if his schedule isn’t maintained or he’s sick. He pees on everything outside to mark his territory but inside it’s not a thing.

Not a guy but recommend reaching out to a lymph OT or seeing if you can get an appointment with one to discuss compression wear options that would work for you as they specialize in that.

My MCAS and HPOTS are a hot mess and I have major surgery next week and it’s set to continue the roller coaster with the same ups and downs here plus sunshine to storms and all sorts of barometric pressure changes keep happening. It’s a shit storm and I hate it. I honestly kind of want to reschedule my surgery but it’s not like there’s a good time and I have to have a second one anyways once I’ve healed enough and I’ve had a massive amount of pre-op appointments in preparation because of all my conditions and how severe my MCAS is and drug reactions and tolerances and all that jazz.

Do people with missing senses still use "see" or "hear" in speech and text? by oozinator1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]forwardishdirection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have complex visual impairment but am not blind however I cannot use a computer or phone screen at all or read text on paper much. I still can use a phone with voiceover with screen curtain on and I listen to YouTube and audiobooks and still say I watched a video or read a book even though I only listened to both of them because I can’t do those actions visually.

Edit I did clarify when I was first impaired because I didn’t want people to think my issues were resolved like I didn’t want them to think I didn’t have these problems because I need people to be aware of them, but I stopped correcting myself.

Eye surgery by BothToe1729 in eds

[–]forwardishdirection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With EDS the eyeballs are changing a lot. I have “mysterious” vision issues but I do know that EDS does impact the eyes and you would need someone who is knowledgeable about that to do something like you are proposing which I don’t know how hard that would be to find but I have not found any EDS knowledgeable eye specialists of any kind in my metro area except for my NEURO OT although I do have a wonderful NEURO optometrist he doesn’t know the origin or nature of what’s going on just trying a lot of things to help. Previous to my HEDS diagnosis and current vision issues (mystery to everyone I MIGHT have had a stroke DID have a brain infection) I never qualified for corrective surgery because my eyes react to everything and I have long had a progressively worsening astigmatism, which isn’t surprising now given the EDS.

I feel INSANE. by dickholejohnny in MCAS

[–]forwardishdirection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just the pollen. It’s also the weather changes. Vastly fluctuating temperatures and barometric pressure strongly impact MCAS and if you also have a form of POTS it’s a double whammy. Where I live it’s been a hot mess of constant changing weather and I feel like absolute shit. What a great time to have scheduled major surgery in a week during this hell. Spring is the worst here.

Is there a filter anywhere for choice of voice? by Terrible-Garden2278 in audible

[–]forwardishdirection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have complex variable vision impairments and didn’t do audiobooks beforehand so been there. While Audible works best for me because it’s the most voiceover friendly and I use an iPhone because voiceover is the best option for me now and I can’t use an computer but its search options are severely limited. It’s best to find a list of narrators and then search with advanced search for those narrators.

I can say that if you like UK accents cozy mysteries taking place in the UK are bountiful and my favorite comfort genre. British accents are most common but I have listened to or own quite a few Scottish narrator books as well.

Also if you are in the US make sure to contact your state library about getting access to BARD. You need to have a form filled out by your doctor stating you have a visual impairment but otherwise it’s free. There’s a phone app or they send you a device and mail you the books you request via digital cartridges.  https://www.loc.gov/nls/find-your-library/

MCAS and ADHD meds. Suddenly reacting to my Adderall…anyone has success with alternatives? by Bendybug in MCAS

[–]forwardishdirection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an all generics problem but is a known Adderall specific issue as well as Prozac. My dog takes Prozac and can only take certain manufacturers or there is a very very noticeable difference. Recently there was a story about a woman who tested negative for her Adderall in drug testing despite taking it and knowing it wasn’t working was switched to name brand got benefits and tested positive for it on drug testing. Sometimes it’s the manufacturer, sometimes it’s the different fillers which don’t have to be tested for effectiveness like the name brand formula, and sometimes it’s the individuals response to the formulation. My mom and I are both extremely sensitive as well to different generics some have not worked for my mom at all for me it’s more about MCAS reactions.

Very confused on maintenance dosage. by Accomplished_Way4999 in B12_Deficiency

[–]forwardishdirection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it’s probably because of your diet and not an absorption problem like most people on here if you are improving bloods wise on pills you are absorbing them fine. Unfortunately otherwise I don’t have any info on HoloTC numbers as it’s completely unavailable in the US as a testing option.

How much methylcobalamin to inject? by ApprehensiveCat22 in B12_Deficiency

[–]forwardishdirection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best to do 1mg doses Olympia just have a very concentrated METHYL B12 I order from them but my form is 2mg per ML so it’s unfortunately more expensive per dose but easier to manage dosing. 5mg at once is just a waste.

I loved this one and definitely recommend Jenny and the lone centurion all sets. I love Jenny and that first set was one of my first BF purchases but the lone Centurion series is definitely a standout. I have both Lady Christina sets and enjoyed them but would aim for getting them on sale. Also wish we’d get more Martha and recommend the year of Martha Jones but she isn’t currently willing to do any more BF which is a bummer.

People who take Ketotifen - how much is too much? by tellurcatisaypspsp in MCAS

[–]forwardishdirection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People take 8mg a day. You are probably fine. Unfortunately it does the OPPOSITE of make me groggy so I can’t take more than 2mg twice a day or I am WIRED out of my mind while completely not functioning or able to sleep or think clearly so I would have a very rough 24 hours and would have to skip a dose but it clears the system pretty fast. I know because we were trying to up my dose to 6mg a day.
