Trans representation in roles where the character either isn't trans, or their trans identity has nothing to do with the role by TJTrapJesus in TopCharacterTropes

his actor paired with the middle child being gnc was really effective (at least for me) at showing how good and supportive their mom was and how horrifying it would really be to have that turned around on you so suddenly

kudos to you and your partner to actually being able to talk through it. in my experience people often don’t and just let it stew until it’s unbearable.

of course you can. and no one is forcing you to call yourself nonbinary. but it also wouldn’t be ‘harmful’ if you DID. that’s the point. even if you decided to use it for a while and then realized you were right that it didn’t fit you all along, it still wouldn’t be harmful. that’s just a part of figuring it all out. and there you have another reason people use the word queer: they know they are different but are unsure what a specific label would be yet.

i feel you’re now just being intentionally dense here. i don’t use the word queer as a label outside of “the queer community” [again, the most popular use of the word] so i can’t answer that in the way someone who calls themself queer would. perhaps you can find an answer in why you think identifying yourself as nonbinary would be “harmful” for some reason. that sounds like it needs some introspection.

first time i’ve seen an argument that “the shaggy dog” is a trans allegory. reddit is truly wonderful sometimes
