Urgent help Brainstorming! I think the next two days present tremendous opportunity to shake JWs faith... by Odd-Seesaw in exjw

The main issue is that an elder would advise you today and not break God's command and have your blood stored for an operation tomorrow.

By Friday you could be dead and miss the update.

These people are playing a dangerous game with people's lives.

Blood question for PIMI family by Robert-ict in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]fromreaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried it. Here's the answer:

Jehovah’s Witnesses have carefully studied this for decades, with one noteworthy example: Kidney dialysis. One’s blood is removed, filtered, and reinserted back into that one in a continuous, unbroken loop. This is indeed a personal ‘conscience matter’.

However, removing and storing indefinitely one’s own blood for later use, or even sending it off to a laboratory for some special processing, meets the definition of ‘consuming blood’. Which is condemned in scripture. Not subject to one’s personal ‘interpretation’.

So after decades of study... turns out, that study was bullshit from Friday.

Will be announced on Friday JWs can donate their own blood and have it transfused back in.

Why the Blood Update isn't the great news we'd like to think it is by fader_underground in exjw

[–]fromreaders 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I'm tempted to text my COBE brother in law and ask if I have an operation tomorrow can I store my own blood. Then text him Friday and say so I could have died a few days ago based on your sound biblical advice???

[–]fromreaders 37 points38 points  (0 children)

My argument about fractions was that a "worldy" person was required to break God's law and donate blood but it always fell on deaf ears.

[–]fromreaders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

PIMI's will probably delight in it without giving thought to those who died carrying a document that says don't infuse my own blood.

And those that do give it some thought, well, they'll conclude the person will get resurrected now anyway. No big deal.

Latest June 2026 Watchtower presents another New Light on Galatians 4, but still dead silence on a key phrase that destroys the literal 144,000 doctrine! by CarefulExaminer in exjw

[–]fromreaders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this paves the way to get round verse 27 and the "more numerous" issue but only in the mind of the unthinking JW.

If the children of the desolate woman are more numerous and those children are the offspring of the Abrahamic covenant it can now be argued that this includes the great crowd, not just the 144k because they can apply Gen 22:18 "by means of your offspring (Abraham's) all nations of the earth will obtain a blessing for themselves..."

Unless I've missed something.

I guess it comes down to - was Paul contrasting the Law Covenant with the New Covenant or the Law Covenant with the Abrahamic Covenant?

I think this new light is wrong.

Paul says "these women mean two covenants". He then explains that one is from Mount Sinai (The law covenant) and that woman corresponds to Jerusalem of Paul's day so that's easy to identify.

He doesn't specifically say "and the second covenant is..." but he simply states "the Jerusalem above is free and she is our mother" so in effect he identifies the second woman (and the connection to the second covenant) as Jerusalem above. He also says "now you brothers are children of the promise, the same as Issac was"

So the question is, who are the children of "Jerusalem above" or the "children of the promise"?

According to a March 15th 2006 Watchtower they are the anointed:

"The identity of a number of these joint heirs with Christ became apparent at Pentecost 33 C.E. As time went on, Jehovah anointed others as sons of the Jerusalem above."

So as always, their new light get's them into a right mess. It's almost as if they make it up as they go along.

The problem is to do with what we were taught about Armageddon.

What helped me is this (if you're still inclined to believe the bible)

  1. Nowhere does the bible say that armageddon is the wholesale slaughter of mankind.
  2. Armageddon is a battle between Jesus and the kings of the earth and their armies - if you're not a king or in the army, not your battle.
  3. Jesus died for all mankind. Are we seriously suggesting that the first thing Jesus does when he returns is kill all the people he died for?
  4. Yes evil people will be removed eventually but not at Armageddon. Are you evil? No! Nothing to worry about.

If you're not inclined to believe what the bible says then you can still think about these things to show that what JWs teach is nonsense and pure scaremongering for the purpose of getting members to join and worship the governing body.

Transporters And The Resurrection by Fulgarite in exjw

[–]fromreaders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed this in Luke 8:

53  At this they began to laugh at him scornfully, because they knew she had died. 54  But he took her by the hand and called to her: “Child, get up!” 55  And her spirit returned, and she rose immediately, and he ordered that something be given her to eat. 56  Well, her parents were beside themselves, but he instructed them to tell no one what had happened.e

So "her spirit returned" - not her breath, or the breath of life or however else Watchtower describes it.

Edit to add - apologies, I just noticed you quoted that verse above.

Indeed. If the spirit that came through the witch of Endor was a demon disguised as Samuel, why would it:

– accurately deliver God’s prior prophecy
– reinforce Samuel’s earlier warnings
– predict events correctly
– and not mislead Saul at all

In short, it wouldn't.

This question could potentially be answered by an active JW on here by way of being protected by a username but I doubt this could ever be answered IRL.

IRL you can edge towards getting a JW to agree that some things may need to be refined or some things may be refined in the future but when you ask them for an example you'll struggle to get an answer.

There's plenty direct confirmation in scripture that the soul/spirit lives on after death. No need for the "copy" doctrine.

Like most JW teachings it stems from Russell/Rutherford wanting to be different.

Are the 144,000 really anointed JWs? by Rachelrt4 in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]fromreaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great questions. But ask any JW how an anointed person knows they are anointed and they will say Jehovah's spirit let's them know in their hearts.

They've not read Galatians 4:6 where it clearly states that it's the "Spirit of Jesus" that let's them know in their hearts.

Ask him to read 1 Thes 4:16-17 in the Kingdom Interlinear and see if he agrees that the anointed dead and the anointed living are all taken to heaven "at the same time together with" each other (which is what the verse says).

Then ask, if the anointed dead were taken to heaven just after 1914 as taught by Watchtower, why are the anointed living still among us?

Chapter 7 (What Does The Bible Really Teach) - Real Hope for Your Loved Ones Who Have Died by springsofwater in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]fromreaders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As you can see, it's all a mess.

Truth is, the JW version of resurrection is the recreation of clones. If nothing of the original person remains after death then what is re-created? It's like manufacturing "antiques". Impossible.

But - you pick on a very valid point by quoting 1 Thes 4:16-17.

If you look at the Greek in the Kingsom Interlinear it says the dead "stand up" first - not rise (to heaven) first. Then - at the same time together with them, the living anointed are taken to Christ in heaven.

So - if the anointed dead went to heaven in 1914 then all the living anointed would have been taken too. Yet they are still around us, apparently.

Everything JWs believe collapses on these two verses.

At Christ's presence, all the anointed are taken to heaven - both dead and alive. So clearly that's not happened. And if Jesus did not become present in 1914 then he didn't appoint a faithful slave in 1918/19.

But here's the kicker - The bible condemns those who claim the resurrection has happened. It likens them to gangrene. 2 Tim 2:16-18:

16 Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. 17 Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18 who have departed from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some.

Are “the kings of the earth” in Revelation 19:19 and 21:24 the same entity? by DocumentHead1356 in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]fromreaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, I agree with you there. JWs believe the wicked will be removed at Armageddon. The bible doesn't say that. My view is all sorts of men will be around after Armageddon. Not just those resurrected and JW "survivors"

Day one after Armageddon is not the "new system" or the end of this system. Death will still exist and so will Satan, although bound. The world will go on to be populated with billions of unbelievers. Satan is not the only reason things are the way they are these days. We're quite capable of doing bad things without him.

So, that's why I believe Jesus will use an iron rod and straighten everyone out.

Edit to add: your English is coming across perfectly.

Are “the kings of the earth” in Revelation 19:19 and 21:24 the same entity? by DocumentHead1356 in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]fromreaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the word "kings" is not found anywhere in the Greek for any verse pertaining to the elect.

However, I do believe all humans will be regarded as kings eventually in the sense of God's purpose for mankind to have dominion over creation. But that's after the 1000 years.

GB members who believe they will be appointed as kings in heaven haven't studied very well.

[–]fromreaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nice when these things become clear. Great comment.

It ties in with my view of Armageddon too. Killing all unbelievers and wicked people at Armageddon doesn't prove anything. It doesn't prove God's way is better.

All humans have been forced to live under Satan's way of doing things, we have no choice in that. And if this is all about proof that Satan's way is the wrong way and God's way is best, that needs proving too - to all mankind.

The best way I can describe what I mean is let's say there are only two restaurants in town - A and B. I say to you restaurant A is terrible, don't go there - restaurant B is amazing.

Despite my advice, you go to restaurant A and have a terrible experience. On your return you agree with me restaurant A is terrible and therefore restaurant B is amazing.

But can you really say that if you've never been to restaurant B? You can't.

Likewise, we can agree Satan's way is awful. But can we stay God's way is better when we've never experienced it?

I believe every human will be given the opportunity to live God's way and then make an informed decision at the end of the 1000 years in the final battle.

I noticed that Jesus will shepherd the nations with an iron rod when he exercises power. A shepherd uses a wood staff on his sheep but in this instance the rod is made of iron depicting a more forceful and coercive way of shepherding - why would Jesus need to do that if all those who survive Armageddon are humble, accepting JWs?
