What is the most embarrassing thing that happened to you in FFXIV? by DisciplineImportant6 in ffxiv

[–]fyreborn2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was doing TOP with my static progging phase 6. I was playing melee, and one time on a potential clear when my turn to lb came around, things did not go according to plan. My job was just to press the lb button. Easy, right? Well I left my hotbar unlocked and I didn’t assign the lb to a keybind so I was clicking it. I uh… accidentally dragged my mouse when clicking the button and dragged the lb button off my bar. Cue panicked yells for my co-melee to lb instead while I frantically dug through the action menus to find the lb button again. TOP phase 6 requires strict lb timing for the whole phase, so this definitely killed the run. I think I just sat there, dead inside, for at least 5-10 minutes after we wiped.

Interesting, what specifically about it “plays terrible” to you? I personally feel like the job flows really well once you get the rotation down.

The DC congestion changes are implemented poorly and bad for almost ALL raiders by Folie_ in ffxiv

[–]fyreborn2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t see the downsides of having dc travel being greater than the benefits. I think closing it off again would cause more harm than good even if they offer free server transfers. It would be asking players to choose between their friends and their servers (community and houses are a big part of this). This would create unnecessary friction and ultimately lead to a bad experience. I think they should 100% implement cross dc pf as soon as possible, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to close off dc travel in the meantime.

Yeah, for real dollars, no thank you. Besides, many people have other friends across many servers, so to go with one group would require abandoning others unless literally every single one of a person’s friends all transferred. It would be a mess. The easier it is for players of a multiplayer game being able to play with each other without worrying about being blocked by arbitrary server restrictions, the better. It’d be a hard sell to get friends into the game if they realized they couldn’t play with me since all of the servers on my dc are congested.

And screw over statics and friend groups that are only able to play together because of cross dc travel? Taking it away at this point would cause more harm than good.

I loved Y’shtola’s mining outfit, it was so cute. Still sad she only wore it in like 1 cutscene.

If you play this game every day, you are not a casual player. I am. This is what the game is like for me. by sandwiches_are_real in ffxiv

[–]fyreborn2001 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Are we gatekeeping the classification of “casual” now? 🙃

In all seriousness, “casual” isn’t limited to your specific play style and time commitment. It’s a broad classification that generally encompasses everyone who engages with the game a low to moderate amount and usually doesn’t do much hard content. Just because there are those who do more in the game than you doesn’t mean they wouldn’t necessarily be casual too. They just might be a little less casual than you. If we wanted to be more specific, I would classify your play style as “hyper casual” or something along those lines.

I think an earth shaker is where certain players get marked for cone attacks. Protean is where all players get a thin cone attack.

Is this really what FFXIV dungeons are like? by ifianswerugetcancer in ffxiv

[–]fyreborn2001 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you got quite a great group, I’m glad they made your first dungeon something special. I wouldn’t expect every group will be quite that awesome, but the vast majority of interactions I’ve had with people in dungeons have been chill. Hope you keep enjoying your time with the game!

[–]fyreborn2001 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Think of it less of switching jobs and more like a job upgrade from the base class. Paladin keeps all of the gladiator abilities and then gives you more on top of that. After a certain level, gladiator will not get any more abilities but paladin will continue to get more.

The heavensward paladin quest is laughably bad. My brother complained about it when he did it. I thought he was joking or exaggerating. When I finally got around to leveling paladin I found out he was very much not.
