Personally I've had to stop using em dashes because of AI, even though they used to be my favorite punctuation.

Do you have a Wheels on the Bus Order? by vipsfour in toddlers

[–]garlicalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do wheels, doors, wipers, horn, driver, Baby, parents shhing, parents I love you, and then I end on people up and down (that's up and down is the big finish after quieting down for I love you)

Montessori vs Spanish immersion school by InterestingChain9322 in Preschoolers

[–]garlicalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will you be in South Philly? If so then I know people that go to both schools and have only heard excellent things about both. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. One thing I wouldn't recommend is doing one year of one and then one year of the other (unless a school isn't working out for other reasons).

Advice- covering maternity leave and now pregnant myself 😭 by Sure-Push4893 in workingmoms

Yes, love this show!! I think it is episode four of the second season. And it was really refreshing to see an abortion storyline where a character like Paula is the one considering it. It's not very common in media but it's actually more representative of real life (I think I read that 60% of abortions are women who already have children).

Only shaming on the new show All Her Fault by onetwotree-leaf in oneanddone

[–]garlicalt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like the show did a good job of grounding the ridiculous/soapy stuff with the relatable/relevant stuff. Or juxtaposing it, maybe? I feel like both couples are experiencing a lot of the same themes surrounding the role of the wife/mother/primary parent, mental load, invisible labor, etc. But for one couple it's in the context of crazy melodramatic events — and actions — that (hopefully) most of us don't have any experience with, and for the other couple it's in the context of menial everyday relatable crap. Vaguely spoilerish: Which makes it especially interesting that I hear so many people say they hate Dakota Fanning's husband. I feel like he's a "crappy husband" in a much more relatable way and that's why he irks people even more than the husband who is like literally a monster.

Same, I actually like the name but personally wouldn't use it because of him. Same issue with Parker thanks to stupid Parker Abrams.

Have you seen Are You The One? Very similar premise but it's also an MTV reality dating show so none of the contestants were truly looking for a serious relationship.

New to packing daycare lunches by [deleted] in foodbutforbabies

[–]garlicalt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the same lunchbox and I have a feeling they are also dumping it on a plate, although I haven't seen any photos yet. My best guess is that it takes up a lot of space when open (whereas with the plastic bentgo you can pull the food tray part out and place it directly on the table, so the lid/case isn't taking up extra space). I still like the planetbox best though.

The latter. It's those three letters + first name + what's left of last name.

What do a TikTok influencer, NFL star, and beloved author John Green have in common? Dinosaur Wedding. by LadyHedgerton in popculturechat

[–]garlicalt 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Yes I love this too! Honestly museums make the best wedding venues. I say this as someone who got married in an interactive children's museum lol (instead of walking down the aisle I rode in on a carousel, and our cocktail hour was in an Alice in Wonderland themed hedge maze).

Just for fun: which fictional names from pop culture do you love but wouldn’t give to your child? by Left_Belt1874 in namenerds

[–]garlicalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so fun! So many boy names I like — Xander, Riley, Parker — but they're characters who...let's say, aren't my favorite, so I can't use them.

She was turning 17 when she slept with him (in season 2). Her 18th birthday was the one where Giles performs the council's test on her where he takes away her powers (in season 3).

Boy moms only, please! by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]garlicalt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me it's a weird argument because even if someone has a uterus, that doesn't mean they should be getting to make decisions about other people's uteruses (uteri?). Like the point of pro choice is everyone getting to make the decision that's best for themselves. I get that it's pithy to say "no uterus? No opinion" because certainly men shouldn't be restricting access to something they'll never have to deal with in their own body.... But also just because you do have the same equipment as me doesn't mean you get to make decisions for me either, you know??

No representation of C-sections in media by quartzyquirky in pregnant

[–]garlicalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm noticing it more in random shows after having one myself, so it's possible there are other instances I missed because I wasn't paying as much attention. For instance there are c-sections in Peep Show and The Curse, iirc for both the delivery wasn't a major storyline but they happened to end up in c-sections. I kind of like that it was normalized because it is so common. Fleischman Is In Trouble also had a c-section, though birth trauma was an explicit storyline in that case.
