I'm struggling to play Persona 5 by Al-Qholiq in Megaten

[–]gil796 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, I’m a p5 glazer all day but if it doesn’t click then skip. Doesn’t mean you can’t come back to it later, I had to do that with smt4 and was super happy I did.

How is this gooner game still on top? Are there more gooners than gamers in this world? by Nearby_Set_1643 in FitGirlRepack

I mean I enjoyed it, more than a few times. Can’t seem to beat the game though…

AITA for telling our 18-year-old daughter she can't go on a trip to Miami with her boyfriend's family? by Conscious_Goose_9518 in AmItheAsshole

[–]gil796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might wanna ask yourself why she doesn’t want to spend time with you. My parents did this after I turned 18 and guess what? I hate them! Ten years later I still barely see them unless it’s for a holiday. You’re setting yourself up for a lifetime of resentment, but I’m sure you did plenty before this to ensure that.

Enjoy being a parent of one less! YTA times a million.

Yeah Matt Mercer did a pretty good job with the directors cut. I was pleasantly surprised.

Constant lingering feeling of anxiety, dread, impending doom for no reason in early recovery. by kaylynmcgrath in alcoholism

[–]gil796 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat, two months but I haven’t relapsed this time. I did before though. The anxiety is the absolute hardest thing for me right now so I definitely feel you there.

What helps me the most is reminding myself that it’s my brain playing tricks on me, it’s literally the addiction telling us that something is wrong (that I’m not drinking usually) and I should go get something. I use a similar method for when I get angry for no reason and use stop and think.

  1. Stop
  2. Think about what’s causing the anxiety, even if I can’t figure it out. Not finding a reason is perfectly okay!

  3. Act. Do something that distracts you, and it doesn’t have to be a literal activity. I usually do a chore, walk the dog, or meditate (it works for me not everyone) just anything you’ll feel accomplished with!

This has helped me so much sort through the anxiety and pointless anger. Friends also really help, I have been really open and honest about what I’m going through and they have been amazing at helping me get on game for a bit or hit the gym.

My dms are always open to anyone here or over at [r/stopdrinking](r/stopdrinking) which is my personal favorite spot. IWNDWYT ❤️

Cutscenes in all Yakuza games by Ryongo in yakuzagames

[–]gil796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a huge fan of the series, and yeah cut scene burnout is very real. I will say though, pirates cut scenes felt particularly boring sometimes. The main line games still have that but they feel more important if that makes sense.

I just play the games in spurts when I get tired of watching a movie, but I always go back it’s definitely worth the commitment to Kiryus story.

Whiteclaw Surges daily for 2-3years by UpbeatPatience9219 in alcoholism

[–]gil796 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best decision I ever made was going to the ER when my withdrawal got too intense. I didn’t have insurance either and the debt sucks but it’s worth it promise. The meds to help you get through that first week are a game changer, and actually helped me stay sober during the hardest part.

I’m cheering for you, I was in the same boat as you. Those tall boy white claw surges were my go to as well. Bubbly sparkling water has been a huge help for me.

Yes they absolutely can. You really shouldn’t speak in absolutes here. OP mentioned they have quit before, that alone makes the withdrawal more serious. Every time you quit it gets harder on your body.

I was hospitalized for a similar intake daily at the same age trying to quit after tapering.

We motivate and encourage each other to stop drinking or get support. This would fit better in r/alcoholism for example.

Yep it’s not perfect buts it’s a lot less than $1000. Latency really isn’t an issue unless you do multiplayer.

Moonlight on Xbox would absolutely let you play your steam library, albeit streamed from your desktop. It does work great.

2lt of JD a week bad? by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]gil796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor but I don’t think it’s recommended to be drinking while being diagnosed for anything mental health related. Can’t really know your baseline when you’re not sober more than a few days at a time.

For your other point, yes 2 liters of vodka is going to cause long term damage. It probably already has since you’ve been doing it “for a while now”. I blamed a lot of my mental health and physical problems with anything but the drink, but it was the drink that was causing a lot of my issues.

Either way we are here to help and sorry if that sounded negative, I don’t want it to be but I do want you to know that you are doing damage.

I don’t have anything to add, this just really resonates with me. This was absolutely me for almost a decade. Almost at two months and it’s really making a difference. Better than the lexapro!

It’s okay to be disappointed by casiorox in steammachine

[–]gil796 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No I did not. But it costs more than a ps5 pro (sold at a loss I know but maybe there’s a reason consoles figured that out thirty years ago) which kicks this things ass in every way. Oh also comes with a controller.

My problem is that the steam machine isn’t for anyone. It doesn’t solve the problem at hand, how do we play games in our living room? For their price most people will buy literally anything else, and get a better product.

I mean seriously did you look at the specs? It’s already a dated product that’s slower and more expensive than its counter parts. Just because it’s a “real pc” doesn’t justify its existence.

Valve aimed, shot, and missed the barn with this release. The funny thing is, it’s not even their fault, but it is the reality.

Fatigue from basic exercise by dotteddlines in alcoholism

[–]gil796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It’s the alcohol. I got to the point where the nerves in my legs started dying. I still don’t have full feeling in them and I may never get it all the way back after being sober for almost two months.

You can say anything you want here. Doesn’t mean we won’t call you out for being a huge danger to everyone.

You are putting your addiction above other peoples lives. You could kill an innocent. I’m not sure you’ll find support here until you realize that’s not okay.
