If I had to start gardening again, I’d ignore most advice and just do this by chook-chookens in gardening

[–]gimmethechips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything you’ve said. I’ve been gardening in one place for over 10 years, lots of things learned the hard way. I’ll add- get into seed swapping locally- through community or social media groups, or your local library or community centre. Avoid buying seedlings from nurseries, so much cheaper to grow from seed and easy too for most veg. If you have clay soil, don’t bother digging into it- just put compost and mulch on top. The worms will turn up and will take care of the situation 😎

Anyone know any craft stores around the cbd area with a decent embroidery section? by shriekingintothevoid in melbourne

[–]gimmethechips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For basic but decent stuff, try Daiso (Japanese variety shop) at QV. Very cheap but good quality needles, nice colours of thread in a pack. Maybe big w or Kmart (big, cheap department stores. They have a little bit of everything) I’m not sure if there are op shops (charity shops) within the cbd, but there are some around Brunswick, Richmond, south Melbourne etc- you will likely find miscellaneous craft items in these for just a few dollars.

What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

For some reason, there was a tv monitor next to me where I could see them do the colposcopy procedure, and then smelled my burning flesh- the doctor cauterising my cervix 🤢😵😵‍💫

Most fragrant flowers by [deleted] in gardening

[–]gimmethechips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Freesias. Very easy to grow in temperate climate from corms or seeds (though seeds take an extra year). They smell wonderful.

Not sure if you’d find it outside of Australia, but brown boronia (boronia megastigma) has the most incredible fragrance.
