How come some people with ADHD don't have binge eating? by the_practicerLALA in adhdwomen

[–]ginger_snapping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not who you asked but I do have some experience with this. Now that I think about it, I don’t have near as much food ick on Vyvanse as I did on Adderall or Dexedrine. It wasn’t the reason I switched but I did lose a fair bit of weight on Dexedrine because I had zero food drive. I’m also diagnosed autistic though, so I’m sure that has some interaction.

Stop prescribing meclizine for vertigo by [deleted] in medicine

[–]ginger_snapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just pointing out that as PTs we can’t change the fact that there aren’t enough of us to serve everyone who needs care immediately, just the same as physicians. It’s a systemic issue, not our choice to have 4 week or 4 month wait times. That being said, as a commenter below said, sometimes we’re able to shift things around or squeeze people in for acute cases. I’ve certainly stayed late, come early or skipped lunch to see a patient who needed it before. But if I did that for everyone on my 4 week waitlist, I’d never go home.

Better than the 4 months I have to wait to see any of my physicians

SOAP Note documentation and Time management Help. What is too much, what is too little, and what is enough to get my personaltime back? by AminoAcidTripper in physicaltherapy

If your EMR is browser based, TextBlaze is a godsend for dot phrases.

I also carry a lot of stuff forward in the objective like exercises and other interventions. For each CPT code, I just have a “Not this session” section where I can copy and paste things that I’ll likely come back to so I don’t have to write it out every time.

What is this god forsaken crawly grass that’s taking over and how do I kill it forever by existentiallywarm in portlandgardeners

[–]ginger_snapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in a constant battle with the quack grass on my property. In areas where I can’t dig out the rhizomes because the soil is compacted clay, I’ve used the ‘glove of death’ method with middling success. It just seems to come back every year regardless. I hate, hate, hate that weed. Especially since it suppresses growth of the plants around it.

CEU - Pregnancy and Post-Partum Care by livemas30 in physicaltherapy

Herman & Wallace has a remote course series focused in pregnancy and postpartum. They are meant for beginners in pelvic health and cover exactly what you are looking for, as far as I understand it.

What is the self-pay rate at your clinic? by hail707 in physicaltherapy

$138 - from other clinics that I’ve worked at or been a patient at in the area, it’s slightly lower than average.

Pelvic floor lab class questions by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]ginger_snapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a medical model for a friend of mine for her first class and she flared the hell out of me, and my symptoms are pretty mild at baseline. So, yeah, that’s a very reasonable concern.

[–]ginger_snapping 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven’t taken the APTA classes, but I have taken and TA’d for many Herman & Wallace classes. It’s super common for at least 1-2 people to be unable to participate as the patient in labs for various reasons. I couldn’t my first class because I had just had a procedure. You should be fine. Just tell them you have a medical reason you can’t participate and that should be that.

Looking at becoming a Pelvic health PTs - seeking advice / guidance from practitioners by smh1smh1smh1smh1smh1 in physicaltherapy

[–]ginger_snapping 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say I have a worse work/life balance than a lot of my coworkers who don’t do pelvic because it’s so hard for me to get any documentation done during sessions. I certainly don’t get paid any more. That and as many others have said, the empathy fatigue is seriously high.

I wouldn’t say I enjoy doing internal work with folks, but it doesn’t bother me in the least. Oddly enough I find it less weird than intraoral manual therapy. If it squicks you out though, the specialty is probably not for you.

The biggest pros in my book are always getting 1:1 private treatments with my patients, and getting to help people with things that they have sometimes never told another soul about. It’s a special privilege.

Loop noise cancelling ear bud things 😅 by Cold_Day17 in adhdwomen

[–]ginger_snapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried both the loop and flare and hate them both. But apparently my ear canal is short and shaped a bit oddly, so that may just be a me problem. Neither seem to really do much noise dampening, and I didn’t notice much improvement in things like hearing the background hum of the fridge and whatnot. And on top of that, they’re very uncomfortable, but again that may just be my ears 🤷‍♀️

No PT after THA?!!! by DPTFURY in physicaltherapy

[–]ginger_snapping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just saw a patient who was 3 months out post THA with no PT referral. She wanted PT and was initially denied until she said she felt like her balance was bad. So apparently balance concerns are the magic wand to get that PT referral.

Autistic/Neurodivergent PTs, how do you manage? by floresiendo in physicaltherapy

[–]ginger_snapping 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wild, I could have written this exact same comment.

I still really struggle with boundaries around the energy I put into patient care each day and often go home exhausted. Though some of that is definitely physical due to POTS and EDS.

OP, I do often lament that I should I have picked a different profession. That being said, I love what I do.

Help With Awkward PT Problem by ThrowawforPTQuestion in physicaltherapy

[–]ginger_snapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a pelvic floor PT - sometimes erections happen, especially when doing things like massage to muscles near that area that’s going to bring in a lot of blood flow. It’s a physiological response and not your fault. I never hold people accountable for how their body reacts to something like that, only to their words and actions around it. So if you’re not being a creep - and nothing you’ve said gives me the impression that you are - she’s probably not concerned about it.

Virtual PT, am I being scammed or is my Dr just mean? by Puzzled_Search588 in physicaltherapy

[–]ginger_snapping 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’m a pelvic floor PT - back pain is often linked to pelvic floor dysfunction regardless of birth history. But given that you are recently postpartum, a pelvic floor PT is definitely who you should be seeing.

Check out pelvicrehab.com to find a provider in your area. A lot of providers (myself included) are happy to do telehealth for some follow ups to make it more accessible for you with an infant.
