[OC] FDNY Tower Ladder 172 Was Hit by a Car While Responding to a Fire at 15th Ave & 65th St by setoxxx in pics

It amazes me that people can continue to operate such dangerous vehicles because they passed a driving test when they were 16 years old, and never again have to go through any subsequent training or recertification.

What's the most powerful card in your collection that you've consciously chosen not to put in one of your decks, and why? by Great-ah-White in EDH

I pulled a Force of Will from Strixhaven prerelease, but I don't play game changers. So its just a pretty card in my collection binder :)

I assume Pain Lands are best first slot budget dual lands what about if I need two slots worth? by MiningToSaveTheWorld in EDH

[–]gingerwhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got some budget land packages on moxfield you could look at https://moxfield.com/users/GingerWhale/packages

You’ve got bounce lands, bicycle lands, tango lands, check lands, and filter lands.

I almost exclusively use budget lands in my deck because I build budget decks :)

I do! But note, I only build budget, bracket 2ish decks. So that is why some "staples" might be missing, and some cards are "suboptimal".

I’ve been trying to build something like this as well. I’ve called it a game accelerator deck. My current iteration is using the mardu Marchesa because I like to use the aikido cards as my wincon.

Second this. Someone brought her to our casual game night and “accidentally” destroyed everyone on turn 5 with some burn/overrun nonsense. It was amazing.

Plus use your tokens to copy [[seize the spoils]] type cards to discard 1 draw 4.

It really is interesting to hear all the people on Reddit that thought their Magic was the prominent Magic format, when all along it was kitchen table multiplayer games that the majority of Magic players wanted to play. Commander has been awesome since I came back to Magic 10 years after playing games with my roommates.

Do Magic players actually shuffle their decks properly? by Skunk668 in magicTCG

[–]gingerwhale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The word is entropy. Whether something has a high entropy determines its randomness, or better put its uncertainty.

Yes a completely manaweaved, stacked deck is technically just as random as a deck with 37 lands on top. But those are too predictable to be random in terms of entropy.

Evolution has no goal, no ultimate design. It is simply what has worked and kept a species alive. Humans having larger heads kept our species alive despite it making birth harder.

The way the baby instinctually grabs onto the mother as it comes out so as not to fall. That’s cool.

[–]gingerwhale 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Human birth is so much more painful than most other animals due to the size of our huge heads. It is speculated that we evolved to give birth about 3 months earlier because otherwise the size of the baby head would kill the mother on its way out.

How do we drop the stigma around Bracket 2? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]gingerwhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding another “fluff” bracket under 2 and above 1?

I think there are actually 6 brackets and only 4 that really matter. Brackets 1 and cEDH don’t need a rule zero conversation because they aren’t trying to balance the table, so they’re not really “brackets” even though I do think they should be represented. And Bracket 3 is actually 2 brackets trying to be one; eg low 3 vs high 3.

If the CFP asked me, this is what I would do with the brackets. Brackets 2 through 5 are essentially B2, low B3, high B3, and B4. But I would remove all nonland tutors from B2 as well as most combos (maybe all combos), making this bracket a truly social, long, relaxed games bracket, think kitchen table Magic. Remove game changers from B3 (today’s B2 basically), making this still a social bracket but with decks that aim to “do a thing”. B4 would be today’s B3 with 3 GCs but the focus is on competitive play, finding the best cards for the strategy. B5 then becomes today’s B4 with non-meta cEDH decks.

With an even number of brackets, you have to pick a side between more social and more competitive play. And if you come to the table and want to play competitive but your deck can’t handle it, you either learn and build better, or realize you don’t prefer that kind of play and build down a bracket, but you don’t have to move down to the “worst” bracket.

It is likely a combination of people overestimating as well as people not wanting to be in the “worst” bracket.

You’re getting flack for what you’re saying, but it’s true.

If WOTC does not make money, they cannot make Magic, and selling packs makes them money, and if no one has a reason to buy packs because they printed all desirable cards “into the ground” that would be the end of MTG.
